Bishop Montgomery

For the month of April, our club participated in a Wheels and Reels Outdoor Movie Event administered by the Autism Society of Los Angeles. Volunteers directed traffic, assisted in maintaining social distance amongst visitors, and admitted guests into the event. In May, our club is planning on continuing Charity Miles. We will be supporting the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), an organization that works with disadvantaged youth to protect and provide them with a fulfilling life. In addition to Charity Miles, we will continue to participate in Free Rice. We will also be volunteering at South Coast Botanic Garden for their SOAR Butterfly Pavilion Event. Volunteers will be able to help take care of butterflies and interact with guests. This event will run from May to June. On May 31, we will collect water bottle caps to make a park bench for the Kiwanis Bottle Cap Collection. - Stephanie Pacheco

Carson

This month, Carson High had our officer elections after the first election we held was invalid. As the new board was just announced, we are discussing how we should handle filling in the open positions we have for our board and how we can recruit more members, specifically younger classmen. Due to having difficulties in our elections, we have not yet been able to hold a service event, but we are planning and brainstorming some service opportunities and fundraisers that we can hold for the summer going into our new term. This upcoming Tuesday, we will be holding our first meeting for the 2021-2022 term. We are going to be holding our bi-weekly meetings for the rest of this school year and convert back to meeting weekly once we start the new school year. That means that our last meeting for this school year will be held on May 25, 2021. - Sydney Higa

Mira Costa

This April, Mira Costa Key Club raised $270 during the American Lung Association’s annual Fight For Air Climb! Every year, the ALA hosts walks all over the country to raise money and spread awareness for lung health, clean air, and this year, the end of COVID-19. Our club encouraged our members to donate and share with their family and friends. With the help of the Hermosa Beach Kiwanis Club’s generous contributions, we more than doubled our $100 goal. To show our support, several of our club members participated in a two hour hike along the Abalone Cove Reserve in Rancho Palos Verdes. - Dashiell Rumble

Narbonne

During this past month, as the school year is ending, Narbonne Key Club has been continuing to complete volunteer hours and deciding on what to give the seniors for the end of the year. This month's service events include Free Rice app, Ocean Hero, Ecosia, Card Making for the elderly, Color-A-Smile. As for teh graduating seniors, we have decided on giving them stoles and medallions, as well as certificates for some. Another thing that happened this month was the preparation for spring club rush. We created a flyer for the club rush to promote Key Club and hopefully increase membership. The flyer will be posted on our Instagram page and our school's monthly video. - Ekene Duru
