Mayor says no to coastal retreats Eurobodalla Mayor Liz Innes says calls from some in the community to close borders were not feasible.

“The message from our civic leaders is very clear. Do not travel unless it is essenDal. ACT Chief Minister Barr said on Monday this means no holidays on the South Coast. I have asked Canberrans to stay at home.

“But we must be realisDc. Almost 40 percent of homes in Eurobodalla are owned by people who live outside the shire. Those people have a right to be in their own home.

“However, we’re seeing mandatory lockdowns across the globe. By traveling to the coast to isolate, people risk being stuck here and placing a huge strain on our health services.

“I ask those planning a coastal retreat to consider staying where they are, and those who’ve already arrived to return home. You will be much be7er served in the city where medical faciliDes are more accessible, and goods and services more abundant.”

LGNSW welcomes certainty of council elec.ons postponement - Eurobodalla Councillors remain un.l Sept 2021 The NSW Government has introduced an emergency Bill to Parliament this week comprising a broad range of amendments to exisDng laws to help combat the spread of COVID-19.

A7orney General Mark Speakman said the Government is acDng swiHly to ensure we are as prepared as possible to respond to the evolving threat of coronavirus, while reducing the risk of further transmission in the community.

“Our number one priority is the health and safety of the people of NSW,” Mr Speakman said.

“These necessary changes will mean that essenDal public ameniDes can conDnue to operate effecDvely while maintaining the wellbeing of our frontline workers and the broader public.”

"In response to panic buying and stockpiling, an amendment to the Retail Trading Act will allow supermarkets to stock their shelves and trade throughout the Easter long weekend and ANZAC Day this year, ensuring food and other essenDal items are available at standard retail prices.

"When combined with the decision to liH the supermarket delivery curfew, customers should have greater confidence that essenDal goods will be available from well-known, trusted suppliers. The Bill will also protect staff from being compelled to work on these addiDonal days; it will be their choice to work and earn addiDonal income, or to enjoy the holidays."

The Local Government Act has been amended to allow councils to hold official meeDngs electronically, rather than physically. The Act was also amended to give the Minister for Local Government the power to postpone the September council elecDons for 12 months, with a possible further extension to 31 December 2021.

Think COVID-19 won’t reach your us? Think again!

If rural and remote Australians think their town is too isolated to be impacted by COVID-19, they should think again, the Rural Doctors AssociaDon of Australia (RDAA) and Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine warned today.

“News travels fast in the bush – and so will coronavirus unless more rural Australians ensure they are doing the right thing and self-isolaDng” Dr Adam Coltzau, Clinical Lead for RDAA and ACRRM’s COVID-19 Rural and Remote Response, said.

“Cases of coronavirus have already been confirmed in numerous rural communiDes. But some rural Australians are sDll walking around in La-La Land, thinking COVID-19 is only a big city issue. This couldn’t be further from the truth. The hard fact is that COVID-19 infecDons will increase in rural and remote Australia. “As a rural or remote Australian, you must now do the right thing to reduce the spread of the virus and reduce your risk of geWng it.

“Whenever possible, you and your immediate family members should self-isolate at home – and work from home where that is possible.

“It is also cri.cal that those from the ci.es or other regions – including your distant family members – refrain from coming to your community at this .me, as this will be a sure-fire way for the virus to spread.

“It will also put incredible pressure on our local health services and hospitals if they fall ill with COVID19 while in your community, and we can’t guarantee we’ll be able to provide the care they may need.

“This is not a Dme to panic, but it is a Dme for rural Australians to help protect themselves and their community by acDng for the common good.

ReallocaDon of medical staff into rural areas is urgently needed to stay ahead of the increased demand expected due to the COVID-19 crisis. The Rural Doctors AssociaDon of Australia (RDAA) are saying that medical workforce is going to be a key issue over the next few months, and more needs to be done to ensure that this is coordinated on a naDonal level so that rural is not leH behind. RDAA President, Dr John Hall, said that both state and federal governments need to work together manage the demand as it waxes and wanes across the country.

“We need to get on our toes and act quickly to stay ahead of the game here,” Dr Hall said.

“A locum workforce needs to be mobilised to support not just big city centres, but also our smaller rural communiDes, the one or two-doctor towns, and in the more remote locaDons of Australia.

“RDAA was one of the organisaDons calling for the cancellaDon of elecDve surgeries to free up people so we can develop a flexible workforce to meet the COVID-19 demand, and we are pleased to say that government has heard this and acted.

Council Business as usual, minus the visits It’s business as usual, just minus the personal visits. That’s the message from Eurobodalla Council as measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 temporarily close more doors.

of business today. The main administraDon building in Moruya will also close, from midday Monday.

General Manager Catherine Dale said the vast majority Council business can be done online or over the phone.

“These are challenging Dmes, and we know not everyone feels comfortable online, so I really encourage residents to call our customer service team on 4474 1000. They’re great people you can rely on for the right informaDon and to take the Dme to guide you through any of our services,” she said.

“Our staff are sDll working away, many from home, while some essenDal staff are split between our two adjoining buildings in Moruya to ensure conDnuity of business.

“While bushfire recovery conDnues, the last thing we want is the enDre DA assessment team geWng sick, so we’ve split them across two buildings to make sure we can keep processing those all important development applicaDons. We’re taking similar precauDons with our customer service and IT teams.

“Our outdoor staff – parks, roads and water and sewer crews - will conDnue their work, with increased hygiene pracDces and modified working arrangements aligned with the government’s health advice.”

Dr Dale said aHer registering more than 5,000 bushfire-affected households, Eurobodalla’s Recovery Centre will close on Saturday. The recovery point in Narooma closed yesterday.

“The support services and financial packages stay in place and the welfare agencies, NSW Government agencies and Council teams will conDnue working together to idenDfy and provide the bushfire recovery help our community needs,” she said.

“There is sDll much to do and we’ll keep talking with individuals and communiDes, just in a different way.

Clearly meeDngs are no longer an opDon, so bushfire-impacted residents can expect to hear from us soon with important informaDon and contact details to make sure they can conDnue towards recovery and get the help they need.

“Property clean-up is a priority for many impacted residents, and today we’ve taken measures to make sure our three waste management faciliDes will be able to conDnue bushfire clean-up and meet domesDc waste needs in the face of COVID-19.”

Change to waste services in response to COVID-19 Eurobodalla Council’s SurXeach and Brou Dps will close to the public from this Sunday in response to COVID19. The move comes to ensure essenDal waste management services can conDnue for the community, including bushfire clean-up.

Kerbside collecDon for general waste, green waste and recycling will conDnue as normal, and Council’s third waste management facility in Moruya will re-open with extended hours from Monday 6 April for domesDc waste and recycling.

Surf Beach and Brou remain open for contractors and builders to dump waste from essenDals like bushfire clean-up, construcDon and demoliDon, medical and hospital services, and commercial and retail.

General Manager Dr Catherine Dale says these strategies will maintain criDcal waste services while limiDng the number of people coming to the Dps who require contact with staff.

“Contractors and builders have accounts with us and don’t need contact with our staff at Surf Beach or Brou.

The loads are weighed and they move on, so the COVID-19 risk is reduced,” she said.

“We’re racing to get Moruya waste transfer staDon back online aHer it was badly damaged in the fires. It will open seven days per week from Monday 6 April for domesDc waste and parDcularly so people not on the kerbside collecDon can drop off their waste and recycling. All transacDons will need to be via EFTPOS, no cash.

“We acknowledge this change to Dp arrangements might be less convenient for some residents. However, it’s an essenDal change to protect our staff and the community from the coronavirus risk while maintaining the criDcal waste management services we all need.”

Dr Dale encouraged residents on the kerbside collecDon to use their bins to their best advantage during this challenging Dme. “It might be tempDng while you’re staying home to have a big clean out, and if that’s the case, please use your bins to gradually remove your waste and recyclables, rather than do one big trip to the waste transfer staDon,” she said.

“It’s likely the annual hard waste collecDon won’t proceed as usual this year. It normally starts in July and while our planning conDnues, whether it goes ahead will depend on health advice from the government closer to that Dme. “Bushfire recovery is sDll our focus and we know waste removal is criDcal for impacted residents. These strategies will allow that to conDnue while sDll ensuring the whole community retains access to essenDal waste management services.”

SNSWLHD Daily COVID-19 Update - March 27th 2020 Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD) has confirmed a total of 24 cases of COVID-19 have been formally idenDfied within the District (as at 5:00pm 26 March, 2020). This includes the addiDonal case in Goulburn of a person who is an ACT resident. The announcement follows recent tests which were verified in Vol 16 September 15th 2017 the last 24 hours.

Southern NSW Local Health District Public Health Unit is in contact with each confirmed case and their close contacts, advising them to self-isolate for 14 days from when they were last with the confirmed case.

They have also been advised to seek medical a7enDon should they experience symptoms.

IdenDfying close contacts ensures that those people who may be at risk take the necessary steps to avoid any further transmission. It is essenDal that everyone plays a part in containing the spread of COVID-19 by pracDsing good hygiene measures including: • Clean your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand rub. • Cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with Dssue or a flexed elbow. • Avoid close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms. • Stay home if you are sick.

Southern NSW Local Health District has established COVID19 Assessment Centres throughout the District, so those with symptoms may be tested and treated quickly.

The purpose of these clinics is for people who have respiratory symptoms or fever and who are at risk of COVID-19, for example because they were in contact with a COVID-19 case, or have returned from overseas in the 14 days before onset of symptoms.

Any one heading to an assessment centre MUST call the SNSWLHD Central Intake Service – 1800 999 880 (opDon 1) before a7ending. You will ONLY be tested if you fit the COVID-19 tesDng criteria.

First COVID-19 infringements issued A Sydney massage parlour owner, three staďŹ&#x20AC; members and a returned traveller from the Lake Macquarie area are the ďŹ rst individuals and business in NSW to receive infringements following amendments to the Vol 16 September 15th 2017 Public Health Act. Vol 28 December 7th, 2017 Vol 48 111April July 27th 12th 2018 2019

Earlier today (Thursday 26 March 2020), oďŹ&#x192;cers from Sydney City Police Area Command were conducDng a patrol in the Sydney CBD as part of a proacDve police operaDon to ensure individuals and businesses were complying with all ministerial direcDons related to COVID-19.

As a result of these inspecDons, a massage parlour on Sussex Street was idenDďŹ ed as sDll operaDng, contrary to a Public Health Order.

OďŹ&#x192;cers spoke with the female owner of the business and issued her with a $5000 Penalty Infringement NoDce (PIN) for failing to comply with a direcDon under SecDon 7 of the Public Health Act 2010 (NSW).Three female staďŹ&#x20AC; members were also issued with $1000 PINs. In a separate incident, last Saturday (21 March 2020), a 65-year-old woman arrived at Sydney InternaDonal Airport on a ďŹ&#x201A;ight from Bali. She was advised she was subject to a Public Health Order and was required to quaranDne for a 14-day period.

AHer receiving informaDon that the woman had contravened the order, oďŹ&#x192;cers from Lake Macquarie Police District a7ended her Redhead home about midday on Monday (23 March 2020) and issued her with a warning for breaching the order.

Police received further informaDon that the woman had leH her home during the morning today (Thursday 26 March 2020) and was in breach of the order. About 1.45pm, oďŹ&#x192;cers returned to the womanâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s home and issued her with a $1000 PIN for failing to comply with a direcDon under SecDon 7 of the Public Health Act 2010 (NSW).

Minister for Police and Emergency Services, David Ellio7, said the rules could not be clearer and they apply to everyone. â&#x20AC;&#x153;No one is above the law. If you decide to ignore a direcDon, you will be caught, and you may very well ďŹ nd yourself slapped with a heHy ďŹ ne,â&#x20AC;? the Minister said. â&#x20AC;&#x153;The fact that people are sDll not complying is the reason why we have police out in full force enforcing these direcDons. This behaviour is not only reckless and stupid, but potenDally deadly.â&#x20AC;?

NSW Police oďŹ&#x192;cers now have the addiDonal power to issue Penalty Infringement NoDces (PINs) to anyone found to be in contravenDon of a ministerial direcDon under the Public Health Act. PINs carry on-the-spot ďŹ nes of $1000 for individuals and $5000 for businesses.

In a media release issued this morning the NSW Labor Leader Jodi McKay has called for Premier Gladys Berejiklian to press for a full lockdown at today’s NaDonal Cabinet crisis meeDng. "If the NaDonal Cabinet fails to act", the NSW Labor says "Premier Berejiklian should go it alone and announce a full lockdown of NSW with 48 hours’ noDce - and she would have Labor's complete support to do so."

Ms McKay said: “Premier; you must announce a full lockdown. I will back you. You have my full support.

Everyone must go home and stay home.”

There are 1,405 known COVID-19 infecDons in NSW, with an alarming 145 not knowing how the virus was transmi7ed to them. 6,500 doctors and medical experts have publicly called for NSW to be locked down.

“I’ve been calling on the Premier to close our schools in NSW since the start of the week,” Ms McKay said.

“170 countries around the world have closed their schools yet we sDll have all our 2,200 schools open. Why are teachers, parents and students sDll congregaDng in a school environment when we know that this virus is out there in the community?

“We also must close our borders. Right now, no one from NSW can go into South Australia and Queensland but people from South Australia and Queensland can come into NSW. “There is inconsistency on NSW’s borders. This is ludicrous.”

Caravan Parks and Camping Grounds directed to restrict campers Under the new Public Health (COVID-19 Gatherings) Order (No 2) 2020 the NSW have directed that only permanent residents of caravan parks and people without a permanent address may remain on site. ALL others were told they must vacate caravan parks by midnight Thursday 26th March.

This means that our south coast caravan parks and camping area MUST close to all non-essenDal travellers including general tourism and annual sites.

This will remain in effect unDl at least 23rd June 2020 unless further extended by the Govt.

Camping and picnic areas in NSW State forests are closed from midday Friday 27 March 2020 as part of the public health precauDon.

Forestry CorporaDon’s Tourism and Partnerships Manager, Louise Faulkner said this move followed the Government direcDon. “State forests are popular tourism desDnaDons but unfortunately, right now with the COVID-19 situaDon, groups of people congregaDng and using shared faciliDes is not possible.

“Visitor areas including camping areas, picnic areas and public toilets in State forests are closed unDl further noDce. “People currently in these areas are asked to move on and we ask anyone planning on heading to a State forest for camping and picnicking to change their plans.

This applies to all State forests in NSW including naDve forests and pine plantaDons.

#AskAZookeeper Campaign AND Temporary Closure for Mogo Wildlife Park Vol 16 September 15th 2017 28 December 7th, 2017 Vol 48 111April July 27th 12th 2018 2019

Australian Wildlife Parks group, which incorporates Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park in Doonside (Western Sydney) and Mogo Wildlife Park located in the Eurobodalla region of the NSW South Coast, temporarily closed its parks this week.

During the closure period, Australian Wildlife Parks Managing Director, Chad Staples, aka Zookeeper Chad, will drive a social media community campaign, #AskAZookeeper to provide comfort to the community and show their commitment to animal welfare amidst the evolving COVID-19 situaDon. Zookeeper Chad and his team of keepers generated considerable hope for the community by saving the 65acre site at Mogo Wildlife Park and 200 animals while unaided from the disastrous fires which ravaged Mogo and surrounding areas of the NSW South Coast in early January 2020.

With both parks temporarily closed due to government mandates around COVID-19, Staples and his team have been working Drelessly to ensure the daily rouDne of the animals in the care of Australian Wildlife Parks goes unchanged.

“Our animals and their welfare are our first priority. Our park may be temporarily closed, but our animal care rouDne remains unchanged” said Chad Staples, Managing Director of Australian Wildlife Parks.

Eurobodalla Councilâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s sustainability team is working to control water catchment inputs, including sediment, ash and organic material to help ensure water quality and protect our aquaDc environments and aquaculture industry.

Immediately following the ďŹ res Council worked with South East Local Land Services to undertake training sessions for landholders, Local Aboriginal Land Councils, Landcare groups and contractors on how best to control erosion. Erosion is likely to conDnue for some years and areas that are unlikely to regenerate quickly on their own are candidates for strategic planDng to foreshore planDng. Weed control will also play an import role into the future, helping to minimise compeDDon with naDve species in vulnerable areas.

These acDons will stabilise soil in water catchments by encouraging vegetaDve regrowth and slowing water ďŹ&#x201A;ow. On top of environmental protecDons, the shireâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s drinking water supply, our ďŹ sheries and oyster industries, and recreaDon and tourism industries all beneďŹ t.

To assist, Eurobodalla Council has applied for funds from the NSW Department of Planning Industry and Environment, Coastal and Estuary Grant Program for BushďŹ re AďŹ&#x20AC;ected Coastal Waterways, and is working with neighbouring Shoalhaven and Bega Valley Shire Councils in a region-wide approach to waterway restoraDon. Both Council and the NSW Government have planned addiDonal water quality sampling and installaDon of remote data collectors that automaDcally record changes in water quality, providing a be7er understanding of the impact of bushďŹ re on coastal waterways and the eďŹ&#x20AC;ecDveness of our acDons in targeted areas.

Columnists love peering into the future, especially when their readers are in a tough spot.

Everyone wants to know what’s going to happen tomorrow. And if we get it wrong, almost no Vol 16 September 15th 2017

one much more concerned with the next prognostication. Just ask the 28 December 7th, 2017 Vol remembers; 48 2018 111April July 27th 12ththey’re 2019 astrologers.

So here’s a few thoughts from our Tuross retreat, based on the current state of play and looking, I hope, on the bright side of life.

Education: Every mum and dad who has spent months ‘home schooling’ will have fallen in love with teachers. In fact, when classes finally resume, little Jane, Johnny, Ahmed and Weilian, will bring big posies of flowers to class.

Health: Doctors, nurses, Ambos and other health workers will be honoured with a National Memorial in Canberra. A massive campaign will arise for a free National Health Service like the UK; private health cover will be abandoned in favour of a bigger Medicare levy (and about time too).

Travel: All those years of smaller aircraft seats, knee-room and cattle class service – and the ludicrous salaries of top executives - mean that henceforth we’ll all prefer trains. Public demand will force improved rail links and new ones between cities, towns and the coast (like Canberra to Bateman’s Bay.) ALL THOSE MASSIVE CRUISE SHIPS WILL BE CEREMONIOUSLY SUNK TO PROVIDE ARTIFICIAL REEFS FOR FISH AND FISHERS. AS THEY SINK, THE APPLAUSE FROM AUSTRALIA ALONE WILL BE HEARD IN DEEP SPACE. Welfare: Newstart will stay above the poverty line forever (or until we forget).

Grooming: Long hair will be ‘in’ until the vaccine, then ‘crew cuts’ and ‘cropped’ will be de rigueur (and that’s just the women).

Reading: Many ‘self-isolating’ hours will be spent rediscovering books. Authors will take the place of the celebrity chefs. But only briefly. Like the chefs, their products are tastier than the producers (though sometimes with writers it’s the other way around.)

Australian Politics: There will be a rush to the polls to chuck out the incumbents. Poor Gladys is history. Scotty from Marketing might have given it his best shot, but he started with a ‘trust’ deficit and all those early mixed messages from the bushfires and the pandemic will never be forgotten. A tourism and treasury guy, he cared as much about economics as health, and the voters put survival first by a country mile. (And he left Albo out of the ‘National Cabinet’ to comment from the sidelines, ‘constructively’, of course.)

International: Emperor Xi Jinping will ride high for a while, but the second wave of Covid-19 will mean the end of him and a period of chaos comparable to the Warring States (475-221 BC) before a new emperor ascends the Dragon throne.

Europe will fracture then reunite in a different form. India will collapse; and no one even thinks about Africa.

USA: Joe Biden is an obvious Covid-19 candidate; and after they carry a squealing Donald J Trump out of the White House, your guess is as good as mine.

Vaccine: Here’s the really the big question:, who will be first to produce the effective vaccine, once the first version fails to turn the tide? I like to think it will be Queensland Uni combined with Melbourne’s Peter Doherty institute. But that just shows out subjective predictions are. ‘The wish,’ they say, ‘is father of the thought’. Plus ça change by Trevor Moore SomeDmes I wake up in the morning and see the sun is shining. I’ve been awakened by the kookaburras cranking up. Nothing much has changed; it’s an early autumnal day like many another. Well, except perhaps that we are changing to or from (I can never remember which) daylight saving Dme much later this year …

Vol 16 September 15th 2017 April, so my27th wife tells me. And then I check my phone and there are invariably a ton of alerts from The New 28 December 7th, 2017 Vol 48 April 2018 111 July 12th 2019 York Times. I subscribe to The New York Times because I cannot make my mind up whether US poliDcs is a comedy show or a tragedy – in the Shakespearian sense. I read the alerts and see that the world changed overnight while I was asleep. The $2 trillion rescue package which was nearly all done and dusted hasn’t passed aHer all. $2 trillion … it doesn’t really bear thinking about; it’s not a number that you can really get your head around.

On the other hand, it’s not that much; the US naDonal debt stands at about $15 trillion. Go and put that in your pipe and smoke it Mr Morrison. And that’s just the public debt. If you include inter-governmental holdings, it’s $23.6 trillion.

There’s a site that you can visit to see the US naDonal debt Fearless leaders both who might have had to get their hair done in rising. There’s a similar site that lets you see how the less than 30 minutes but now they don’t need to worry.

Australia naDonal debt is going. It was $1.105 trillion as I write. Per capita the US naDonal debt is $72.9K and our naDonal debt (per capita and using today’s (26 March 2020) exchange rate) is $25.2K. I made the mistake the other night of watching Morrison’s press conference aHer the meeDng of the socalled NaDonal Cabinet. I say mistake because he is very boring. I say “so-called” because it’s not really “naDonal”. They do not seem to be making decisions that are sectarian rather than collecDve. I know that makes it difficult for Morrison who probably feels like a one-armed wallpaper-hanger.

One brilliant statement made as a result of Wednesday’s NaDonal Cabinet was that hairdressing appointments would sDll be allowed but needed to be kept to 30 minutes. Now I am bald as a coot and this went over my head. But my wife was quick on the draw as she pointed out that most women need (I am not sure about “need”) to spend a good deal more than 30 minutes at the hairdresser. Then this morning I see that this restricDon may have been rolled back. That may well be sensible but what I wonder is how this decision slipped through the NaDonal Cabinet without some of its members speaking up. I could understand this if it were the case that the NaDonal Cabinet was composed enDrely of middle-aged white men. But two of its members are women Gladys Berejiklian and Annastacia Palaszczuk. I wonder why they didn’t point this out. Perhaps they weren’t paying a7enDon. Of course, business by tele- and video conference is new to our poliDcal class. They are used to be whisked hither and thither at the front of the plane at our expense. Now they have to sit sDll and pay a7enDon on a conference call. Now, the large corporate I worked for pracDcally ran its business on conference calls. These always had several streams. The top-level stream was the conference itself in which everyone (theoreDcally) parDcipated. But underneath that pairs of parDcipants would be instant messaging (usually disparaging) remarks about the current speaker. The trouble is that the instant messaging would detract from the conference call which, of course, is where the decisions are made. Perhaps this is what happened to Gladys and Annastacia. Who knows?

I haven’t managed to work out why people are stocking up on stuff from the supermarkets. I am used to seeing this behaviour on Christmas Eve when people seem to forget that the shops will open on Boxing Day. beagle weekly : Vol 148 March 27th 2020

The toilet paper thing is unfathomable … so far as I understand COVID19 does not give you what my old housemaster at school called the back-door trots. And flour. Are suddenly people taking to baking? Will we see many more entrants to the baking Vol 16 September 15th 2017 compeDDons at the Moruya Show next year? I doubt it. Too much flour; too 28 December 7th, 2017 Vol 48 111April July 27th 12th 2018 2019 many weevils. And eggs. Why would people panic about eggs? AHer all they don’t last forever. Perhaps these people know something about chickens that I don’t. Perhaps the chickens know something about COVID19 that we don’t and have stopped laying. I can only suppose that people will run out of space and that all will return to what passes as normal.

But I did get some amusement from a news arDcle this week about a chap in the UK who has created a loo roll requirements calculator. The site tells me that it was created by “soHware developer Ben Sassoon and ArDst Sam Harris aHer they had a discussion about how much toilet paper they each used on a day to day basis and how that would change during the pandemic. It has now been used by over 5,000,000 people and is helping to reduce toilet paper shortage round the world.”

Maybe so.

On the face of it the calculator is over-simplified. It has two sliders: one for the number of rolls you are currently holding (ranging from 1 to 200) and one for the number of visits to the toilet you make each day (this ranges from 1 to 40). Then you noDce the advanced opDons. These give some finer granulaDon. It would be useful if this calculator allowed for the input of the gender make-up of the household as I suspect there are some usage differences between men and women. I am pleased to say that when I calculated our supply it was but 107% of a potenDal quaranDne period. We clearly need one of these for flour and eggs.

I suppose that the prize for the worst decision of the coronavirus crisis so far is the person who let the people off the Ruby Princess. Now, there is such a person. Someone somewhere sent an email or electronically signed an approval and as a result the passengers were let off. Not a good move and all will come out in the end … but not now: there are more important things to do and we are where we are. It’s happened. We need to live with it.

We are not quite locked down … not as in the UK and some other countries but we may well be. At the moment people seem to be keeping their distance and it is noDceably quieter and people are talking more. I stood in a queue at the butcher’s the other day and found myself locked in conversaDon with people who, in the normal course of events, were far too far away for a civilised conversaDon. This is a good thing. Social distancing does not necessarily mean that social contact stops. And people are creaDve. I like a wee dram and next week I am doing an on-line whisky tasDng. They send the whisky ahead of Dme and then they stream the event.

Now that’s a good idea.

And there’s plenty of humour going around. Someone sent me this today (see right); I am afraid I cannot a7ribute it much as I would like to.

Wash your hands. Keep your distance … … do whatever it says on the Federal Government Health Website.

Your Up to Date fishing report from the team at Tackle World Moruya Moruya River The16fishing is good the lower secDons of the river at the Vol September 15th in 2017 28 December 7th, 2017 Vol 48 April 27th 2018 111 July 12th 2019 moment. There is a definite delineaDon between the sDll fresher, tannin stained water and the incoming Ddal influence in the system. Areas around Preddy’s wharf and the hole in the wall are producing good catches of bream and flathead, as are the areas around the airport boat ramp on the northern bank. Reports of kings to 85cm have come in from the spur wall down near the airport. The kings have been chasing bait on an incoming Dde, so live baits worked around this area have a chance of being hit. The areas around the bridge are sDll a bit on the murky side, with a mixture on incoming Ddal influence and tannin stained run off making life a li7le difficult. Time will remedy this, but for the present oily baits such as mullet and tuna fillet as well as pilchards are your best opDons.

Tuross River Good catches of bream, flathead and whiDng are being reported again down the front of the system this week. The Ddal influence down the front of the system is providing more opportuniDes to find the fish at the moment. 3”-4” soH plasDcs are working well as a prospecDng pa7ern whilst looking for fish. Try using Berkeley Gulps, Z-Man or Squidgy Grubs to find a feed of fish. Good tailor conDnue to turn up around dusk as well. Pilchards presented on gangs, or long shank hooks are your best opDons to stop being bi7en off whilst trying for the razor gang.

Rock and Beach The Moruya breakwall conDnues to produce very good numbers of salmon, trevally and bream. If you are going to fish the wall, just remember to give anyone else fishing the wall plenty of space. If the wall is crowded, there are plenty of beaches that are also producing fish. Try around Tuross, Pedro’s and the wind sock. There are plenty of good gu7ers all with good numbers of bream, tailor, salmon and whiDng in them.

Off the local ledges, good drummer have been reported, as well as salmon.

Offshore We really haven’t had any reports this week. So I don’t really have anything to report from offshore this week.
