E
nough cannot be said for the commitment that Coach Britt, his assistants, and the players have shown to date this season. None of us have seen before the challenges that the COVID – 19 virus has placed on everyone and, amid this deluge of decisions, Coach Britt has fashioned a team that the BC Community can take much pride in. Obstacles have been overcome, and the challenges have been many. Our hats are off to this team for the discipline, high morale and focus they have displayed.
So much credit belongs to our seniors for the leadership they have displayed in maintaining a team that has persevered through unprecedented challenges. In times past, a senior class could rest assured of its final memorable season. This year, the team can only hope that their expectations of such a season will be realized. Each week has brought its own unique questions, and the team’s leadership, coaches and players have faced them bravely and candidly. Thank you for your support this season. Forward always forward. elcome back to BC Football! My how time flies, and it sure has been a roller coaster ride. In the face of all this uncertainty, our coaches and young men have continued in the face of adversity by devoting so much time and effort toward playing football this fall. Athletics adds so much to our cadets’ experience at Benedictine, and our offerings serve as a constant light for the entire Benedictine Military School community. Our football team may only represent one of many extracurricular activities offered; however, it represents everything that we hold dear as an institution: team over self, hard work, discipline, dedication in the face of all odds, leadership, resilience, and mental toughness. Please join me in celebrating our football program, which is the best in our greater area. This is only possible thanks to your support, the passion of our coaches, and the studentathletes who dedicate themselves to perform at the highest levels. Dear BC Football Fans,
L
ike you, I am beyond excited to see our Cadets on the field this season. Through all the challenges and adversity over the past few months, our players, coaches, and staff have continued to work as hard as ever, while taking every precaution necessary.
The pride and tradition which is ever present with Benedictine are unmatched on the high school level. The same can be said for our football program. From the legendary Thanksgiving Day games at Grayson Stadium to the State Championship victories at the Georgia Dome, the BC spirit has never faded. I look forward to that unwavering support from the BC faithful again in 2020. As we move up in classification to AAAA and take on the most challenging schedule in the area, I have no doubt our Cadets will represent our school, alumni, and community in such a fashion that everyone who wears maroon will be proud. Thank you so much for your support of our young men and Benedictine, and I look forward to another great chapter of BC Football! Hut 2! Hut 2!

CADET COACHING STAFF 2020-2021 DANNY BRITT Head Coach Danny Britt is entering his 10th year as the head football coach at Benedictine Military School. Coach Britt is a 1990 graduate of The Westwood Schools and was inducted into the school’s Sports Hall of Fame in 1998. After high school, Britt attended Georgia Southern University, where he was a member of the 1990 National Championship Team and 1993 Southern Conference Championship Team. In 1994 he was selected as the 1994 Co-Defensive Captain. Britt’s first coaching experience was for The Westfield Schools in Perry, Georgia, where he served as the team’s Defensive Coordinator. He held that post for two years while completing his master’s degree in educational leadership at Georgia College and State University. In 1998, Britt moved to Savannah and began work as the Defensive Coordinator and Strength Coach for the Calvary Day School Cavaliers. He held that post for 3 years and in late 2000 he was selected into the Mitchell County Sports Hall of Fame, in his hometown of Camilla, Ga. In January of 2001, Britt became the Head Football coach and the Middle School Principal at Calvary Day School. During his time as head coach, he amassed a record 0f 32 wins and 21 losses. After five years of working at both positions, Coach Britt stepped down from coaching and worked strictly in school administration for two years. In 2008 he came back into coaching as the Defensive Coordinator at Calvary and he remained in that spot for 3 years. In 2011, Danny Britt became the Head Coach at Benedictine and has compiled a record of 98 wins, 21 losses, and 0 ties in his ten years as Head Coach. Danny and Stephanie Britt are the proud parents of Demarcus Dobbs and Southern and Saylor Britt, and grandparents of Deagan and Delilah Dobbs.
KEVIN PRISANT Asst. Head Coach / Special Teams Coordinator / Defensive Backs Coach Kevin Prisant is a native of Albany, Ga., where he was a 2003 graduate of Deerfield Windsor School and a member of the 2002 AAA State Championship football team. Prisant earned two degrees from Georgia Southern University in the areas of Special Education and Secondary Math while minoring in Kinesiology. While a student at GSU, Prisant began coaching at Bulloch Academy as a wide receiver coach and working his way into the Offensive Coordinator roll upon graduation. In 2011, while the Athletic Director and Offensive Coordinator at Randolph Southern School, Prisant earned his masters degree online in Educational Administration with The University of North Carolina. Prior to his time at BC, Prisant was the Head Football Coach at The Heritage School where he posted a school best 2410 record including the school's first region championship in 2012 as well as a state runner up finish. Prisant was named Newnan Times Herald Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2012, Coweta Rotary Club Coach of the Year in 2011 and GISA AAA Coach of the Year in 2012. Coach Prisant and his wife, Morgan Donaldson Prisant, were married in 2018.

CADET COACHING STAFF 2020-2021 TREVOR COLEMAN Co-Offensive Coordinator / Offensive Line Trevor Coleman graduated from South Effingham high school in 2003 and attended the University of Georgia. He transferred to Georgia Southern University in 2005 and graduated with a degree in History Education in 2008. While attending GSU, he coached Offensive Line at South Effingham High School from 2007 to 2009. Coach Coleman married his wife, Shana, in March of 2009. He began teaching at Benedictine Military School in February of 2012. He has coached Football, Baseball, and Basketball for BC. Trevor and Shana welcomed their son, Avery, into the world in October of 2014.
AJ DEFILIPPIS ‘08 Co-Offensive Coordinator / Quarterbacks Coach Coach DeFilippis graduated from Benedictine Military School in 2008 and went on to play football at Savannah State University where he earned a B.A in History. He then attended Armstrong State University and earned his Master’s in Secondary Education. He began teaching and coaching at Benedictine Military School in 2014. Coach DeFilippis and his wife, Melanie Spitznagel DeFilippis, were married in 2017. AJ and his wife welcomed their son, Michael Enzo DeFilippis, to their family in November 2019.
GALEN HOUSTON ‘04 Defensive Coordinator / Linebackers Galen Houston is a proud 2004 Benedictine alum, having been named as a football All-Region player, Defensive Player of the Year, Team MVP, and Team Captain. He also won the distinct Bill Gaynor award given annually to the best student-athlete at Benedictine. In college, Houston was 2004 Defensive Rookie of the Year and lead his team to two CIAA Conference Championships on the gridiron at Shaw University. While completing his studies at Savannah State University, he began a coaching career at Savannah Christian Preparatory School where they won a GHSA Class A State Championship in football in 2011. Returning to work at his alma mater in 2014, Houston is poised for academic and athletic legacy. He’s earned his Master’s Degree in Secondary Mathematics from Armstrong University and gained notoriety having recently coached the Cadet track and field team to an unprecedented region championship. Without question, Houston has an athletic winner’s heart, mind, and leadership gift. Galen is the son of Randy and Rhonda Houston. He has two sisters, Carisa and Camille. He is the proud father of son, Jayden Micah.

CADET COACHING STAFF 2020-2021 MATTHEW BURKE Running Backs Coach Matthew Burke is entering his eighth year of coaching football and his first year as the running/slot receivers coach at Benedictine Military School. Coach Burke comes from Shorter University where he served as the running backs coach, and compliance liaison for the 2019 season. Coach Burke’s running backs led Shorter’s team with 11 total touchdowns and accounted for 40 percent of the total offensive output. Prior to Shorter, Coach Burke served as the Interim Offensive Coordinator, Offensive Line coach, and Technology Coordinator at Worth County High School for the 2017 season. After taking over mid-season as the offensive coordinator, the offense rushed for 800 yards in the final four games, raised its season total in yardage, and increased its scoring output. Prior to Worth County, Coach Burke served as the offensive line coach and video coordinator at Statesboro High for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. Before Statesboro, he served as assistant offensive line coach, ninth grade head coach, and video coordinator at Fitzgerald High for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
CALEB COLLINS ‘09 Wide Receivers / Head Freshman Coach Coach Caleb Collins graduated from Benedictine Military School in 2009 and went on to play football at Shorter University where he earned a B.A in Business Administration. He began coaching at Benedictine Military School in 2015.
SEAN HOLCEY '92 Assistant Strength Coach Sean Holcey is a native Savannahian and a 1992 graduate of BC. He is a competitive powerlifter and weightlifter with Team Savannah and Viking Strength sports. He is a current Masters USAPL GA Record holder.

CADET COACHING STAFF 2020-2021 CHARLIE JUNG Fullbacks / Equipment Specialist Coach Charlie Jung graduated from Savannah High School and went on to attend both Georgia State University and Savannah State University. While attending college he worked for Savannah Fire and played Semi Pro football with the Savannah Indians. Before coming to BC, he coached at Windsor Forest High School for nine years and at Bryan County High School for 2 years. He coached the Dawgs football team for 2 years and coached at St. James Catholic for 4 years. He began coaching at Benedictine Military School in 2006 with the enrollment of his son, Zachary Jung, class of 2010. Coach Jung is starting his 13th year at BC.
HENRY MEYERS III Strength Coach Coach Henry Meyers, III graduated from Herschel V. Jenkins High School. He is a Senior International Weightlifting Coach and has coached at the World Championship. He has coached numerous National Champions (Junior and Senior) and has coached four Olympians. He began coaching at Benedictine Military School in 2011. Coach Meyers is married to Michelle Meyers and father to Henry Meyers, IV.
TONY ORSINI Outside Linebackers / Head JV Coach Coach Orsini is the youngest of the five children of Sebastian “Poppa” Orsini’34, he attended high school in Aiken, South Carolina, at Saint Angela Academy. After high school, he continued his education at Newberry College where he earned an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and then attended Georgia Southern College to pursue his Master’s degree in Education Leadership. This will start his 19th year at BC. He is married to his college sweetheart, the former Susan Morris, and they have 3 kids, Donald, David and Carmela. They also have 5 grandchildren and enjoy spoiling these grandkids at their Tybee home. Tony’s daughter, Carmela, may be the only girl that lettered at BC in something other than cheerleading. While at St. Vincent’s she was the equipment manager for the football team and the head coach at the time, Tom Brackett, awarded her a football manager’s letter for the work and effort she put into her position.

CADET COACHING STAFF 2020-2021 HOWARD WILLIAMS Defensive Line The Savannah High School graduate attended Armstrong State College and Savannah State College earning a BA degree in Business Management. Coach Williams coached for 21 years at Calvary Day School on the Middle School, Junior Varsity and Varsity levels. Married to wife Bev for over 30 years with 3 daughters Amy, Kim and Kelli and proud grandparents of Ashton, Jada, Caleb and Patton.
CAREY HARRIOTT ‘76 Director of Equipment Transport Carey Harriott graduated from Benedictine Military School in 1976 and then attended Armstrong State University. He began helping with BC Football in 2007 and is starting his 13th year with the program. He and his wife Lisa have been married for 33 years and have two son, Carey, Jr. ’09 and Stewart ’14.
DAVID M. SEDORY, MD Team Physician, Board-Certified Orthopedic Medicine, Sports Medicine Specialist, Optim Orthopedics David Sedory, MD, has been BC's team physician since August 2017. As a board certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Sedory specializes in sports medicine surgery for musculoskeletal injuries. He joined Optim Orthopedics in July 2017. His procedures include joint replacements along with shoulder, hip and knee reconstruction. One of his most popular techniques is hip arthroscopy surgery, which he regularly teaches at national orthopedic meetings and training courses. Notably, Dr. Sedory is one of only two surgeons between Atlanta, Savannah and Jacksonville who perform hip arthroscopy. In 2005, Dr. Sedory earned his medical degree from the prestigious Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic internship and residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas, where he had the honor of taking care of many of our country's injured soldiers and amputees returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Dr. Sedory deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 and then had the privilege of serving as team physician for the 75th Ranger Regiment at Hunter Airfield. Dr. Sedory played high school football in Tampa Bay, Fla. He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Stacey, since 2005. In addition to spending time with his wife and his son, Dr. Sedory enjoys golfing, weightlifting, fishing and spending time near the water. The family is actively involved with animal rescue and currently shares their home with two dogs and two cats.

CADET ATHLETIC TRAINERS 2020-2021 BRIAN TUTEN Head Athletic Trainer Brian Tuten has been the Head Athletic Trainer at Benedictine since 2004. Brian is employed by St. Joseph's/Candler Hospital where he has worked since 2002. Prior to his position at St. Joseph's/Candler, he was employed as the Sports Medicine Coordinator for Appling County Healthcare System where he served as Athletic Trainer for Appling County High School from 1999-2002. He has also held an internship with the Denver Broncos of the NFL in 1998 and 1999. Brian is a native of Savannah, Ga., and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education with a concentration in Athletic Training (internship program) from Armstrong Atlantic State University in 1998. He earned a Master's of Science in Sports Medicine from AASU in 2004. Brian has been a nationally board certified Athletic Trainer since June 1998 by the NATABOC and is licensed in the state of Georgia. Brian has a wife, Diana, and three wonderful children: Kyler (BC '21), Kaden (BC '23) and Briana (12).
ED LIVINGSTON Athletic Trainer Ed Livingston comes to Benedictine Military School with 22 years of experience as an athletic trainer. He has spent 17 years in the Savannah area as an athletic trainer for St. Joseph’s/Candler Sports Medicine. While at Savannah Country Day School over the past 9 years, Ed served dual roles as the Head Athletic Trainer and the Director of Strength & Conditioning the last 6 years. The North Carolina native got his Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Medicine at The University of North Carolina @ Wilmington and his Master’s Degree in Exercise Science at The University of Mississippi. While at Ole Miss, Ed worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer with various Rebel teams. Professionally he is a certified athletic trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association and a licensed athletic trainer in the state of Georgia. He also holds a Certification as a Strength & Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength & Conditioning Association and a Level 1 Coaches Certification from the United States Weightlifting Association. He is also a member of the National High School Strength Coaches Association. Outside of work, Ed enjoys time with his family wife Tifffanie and daughter Payton. Many activities include watching his daughter Payton participate in multiple sports, movies, an occasional book, working out & running, and paddle boarding.

It honors the memory of Father Raphael Arthur, O.S.B., a much loved member of the Belmont Abbey Community, much admired by this class as a member of the faculty of Benedictine and as beloved Headmaster. Benedictine values Catholic teachings and the Benedictine principles of prayer, work, and hospitality. Benedictine supports a deeper commitment to faith, prepares them for life through a quality academic program, and instills leadership skills through a JROTC program, athletics, extracurricular activities, and community service.
The Class of 2020 was accepted to more than 60 different universities and colleges, and received more than $4 million in scholarships, not including GA HOPE or Zell Miller scholarships. For 34 consecutive years the Benedictine Corp of Cadets has been recognized as an Honor Unit with Distinction, ranking in the top 20% of JROTC units nationwide.
Benedictine Military School offers 43 Advanced Placement (AP) and Honors courses to more than satisfy HOPE Scholarship Rigor requirements.
The Class of 2020 completed more than 10,000 hours of community service during their four years at BC.
