The 2022-2023 Annual Report provides a glimpse into key happenings along The Avenues of Ingersoll & Grand over the past fiscal year.

Our activities align with the goals of our organization to:

It was a busy year along the corridor as we completed construction projects, added more art, welcomed businesses and hosted new events As always, thank you for being part of what makes our corridor so vibrant and special!

We look forward to continuing our work with you to champion The Avenues of Ingersoll & Grand and position the district as a treasured destination in our community for decades to come.

INFRASTRUCTURE

Duringthe2022 constructionseason,eightblocksof streetscape(that’s1/2mile!)were completedalongthesouthsideof IngersollfromMLKJr.Parkwayto 28thStreet.Improvementsmirrored theworkthatwasdoneonthenorth sideduring2020and2021,including widersidewalks,protectedbikelanes, parkingpavers,enhancedpedestrian amenitiesandplanterbeds.This transformationalstreetscapeproject keepsourdistrictsafe,welcomingand navigableforallmodesoftransport. TheAvenuesalsopartneredwiththe CityofDesMoinesonamarketing campaigntosupportlocalbusinesses andkeepthecommunityinformed duringthisimpactfultime.What's next?Reconstructionisslatedfor 2024toaddprotectedbikelanesand parkingstallstothestreetscape between28th-31ststreets.

IN MEMORIAM

Soozie McBroom (1946-2022) was one of the founding members of Restoration Ingersoll. She served nearly 25 years as President of the Board of Directors The board is dedicated to honoring her vision for Ingersoll Avenue and legacy through our continued efforts.

The Avenues of Ingersoll & Grand is a SSMID and 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides economic development, marketing & promotion, enhanced maintenance and beautification of this commercial, cultural and residential district located in the historical heart of Des Moines. New public art was added to the corridor this year including (from top) a City Sounds piano, the first of eight DART art shelters and utility box wraps. All installations feature the work of local artists.
