from the director For me, The Weir is about love – the love that can only be found in friendships that are developed by a shared past & the experience of growing up in a small regional community. It’s about how lost love can be just as haunting as any old ghost story you may hear. How memories are like ghosts and how hope can be found in such memories. It’s been a tough time for our small regional community lately and for our company. The floods have brought with them stories of heartache and resilience that can only come from a small community bonding through experience. And personally, our company has also suffered the loss of treasured loved ones whose spirits will haunt this company in all the best ways. In honour of Aunty Ed & Dee.

WHO ARE WE? TheatreiNQ is committed to providing positive, professional and vibrant theatre experiences to regional Queensland through live productions, training opportunities and promotion of regional artists and works produced in the region. We have been serving the Townsville community as a professionally driven theatre company for nine years led by actors Terri Brabon and Brendan O’Connor.
THEATREiNQ ENSEMBLE Much like a dance company or orchestra, TheatreiNQ has a firm basis in the work of ensemble. While most Australian Theatre Companies operate from project to project, hiring freelance directors and actors for each production, TheatreiNQ are programming seasons to both challenge and celebrate the strengths of our core and extended ensemble. The unity of the TheatreiNQ Ensemble extends to behind the scenes. Our 40 member strong ensemble includes Stage Management, Technical Crew, Designers and Administration. The company is joined each year by Guest Professsionals from Metropolitan cities as well as local guest performers. This is not a new idea, in fact it was the same principle of Shakespeare’s own company but it is rare to find such a company in Australia. Since launching as TheatreiNQ in 2010, the company has produced 37 full length productions, facilitated over 200 workshops and master classes, directed the Australian Festival of Chamber Music’s Families’ Concerts in 2013 and 2014 and are the Drama Specialists for the Catholic Education Office’s Mulkadee Arts Festival. TheatreiNQ currently survives thanks to the generous support of local businesses, the local city council and the community. Thank you for your support tonight.
If you would like to become part of our ever growing family of local supporters please contact us at theatreinq@gmail.com or website www.theatreinq.com for more information regarding sponsorship and donations.
