From the Director…
This play was chosen specifically for our 2nd Year Bridge Project Actors. Earlier this year Brittany, Jayden & James all excelled at playing teenagers in X-STACY and Anna proved her classical theatre chops in THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST. So I chose THE SHAPE OF THINGS to continue to stretch them even further and challenge them with a move into young adult roles and more contemporary adult themes and characters. This production was also designed to give the actors a sense of what it is like to independently produce a piece of theatre. To find a space, turn it into a theatre, create a show, and sell it to the public. They have participated in all areas of production including Set, Costumes, Marketing, Direction and all the other myriad of tasks that are involved. This young ensemble have been working together over the past 12 months on a variety of productions as well as weekly acting sessions with Brendan and myself. Their commitment and development has been fascinating to watch and I am extremely proud of who they have become, both as actors and as people. Terri x

THE BRIDGE PROJECT The Bridge Project is the brainchild of TheatreiNQ's Terri Brabon and Brendan O'Connor, who both ventured from Townsville to carve themselves careers in the professional theatre industry. With a genuine desire to assist regional emerging talent to launch careers in the mainstream industry, The Bridge Project was officially launched in 2012 with 8 young talents between the ages of 17 - 20. Through a series of masterclasses with guest industry professionals from Sydney & Melbourne, ongoing professional development, and involvement on professionally-driven local productions with TheatreiNQ, The Bridge Project aims to give our promising emerging talent the best start possible, on-going guidance and mentorship throughout their careers. Two members of the original team are now studying further afield with Sarah Murr at Griffith Uni in Brisbane and Badai Muftah-Flynn at the Actors Centre in Sydney. In 2013, The Project launched a second year programme and introduced 4 new members to the team.
