Brendan is the Associate Producer of THEATREiNQ, also performing in their productions of LAST POST, KING LEAR, WHEN THE RAIN STOPS FALLING, COSI, THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR and RICHARD III. Along with his partner Terri, Brendan received the Jean-Pierre Voos Theatre Award at the 2012 Townsville City Council Arts Awards for saving the annual Shakespeare Under the Stars Event. Brendan was lucky enough to work with Jean-Pierre Voos for 6 years as a founding member of TROPIC LINE THEATRE. He has spent the past 17 years with the AUSTRALIAN SHAKESPEARE COMPANY in Melbourne under the direction of Glenn Elston. TV and Film credits include NEIGHBOURS, STINGERS, BLUE HEELERS and NED KELLY as well as campaigns for MITRE 10, RACQ and CAMPBELL’S SOUP.

hugh sexton........................................ algernon moncrieff

Based in Melbourne, Hugh is a long serving member of the AUSTRALIAN SHAKESPEARE COMPANY. Memorable productions include, RICHARD III, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, ROMEO AND JULIET, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, TWELFTH NIGHT and THE TAMING OF THE SHREW. TV credits include NEIGHBOURS, CITY HOMICIDE, RUSH, DIRT GAME, WELCOME TO THE COSMOS, KILLING TIME and WENTWORTH. Film credits include BODYJACKERS with Gary Sweet and GHOSTRIDER with Nicholas Cage. This is Hugh’s first production with THEATREiNQ and we are delighted to have him as our guest professional in 2013.

bernie lanigan ............................rev. canon chausible d.d.

Bernie has appeared in too many local musicals to count and also worked for professional theatre companies HARD SUN and TROPIC LINE. In 1996, Bernie received a Townsville City Council Arts, Culture and Entertainment Award for his services to the performing arts. Bernie is an Executive Member of THEATREiNQ and received a JeanPierre Award in 2011 for his contribution to Shakespeare Under the Stars. Memorable roles for that event include Gloucester in last year’s KING LEAR, Dr Caius in MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR and Hastings in RICHARD III.

Beth has played principal roles in over 47 plays, operas and musicals. Some of her favourites are A TOAST TO MELBA, a Townsville Summer Stock Production; Burdekin’s LES MISERABLES, ONCE UPON A MATTRESS, NUNSENSE, touring Queensland with Brisbane’s TN!THEATRE COMPANY’S THE ELECTRIC MIKADO and TROPIC LINE’S OUTSIDE LIVES; A CHRISTMAS CAROL, a Civic Theatre initiative for The Smith Family; Flora in LA TRAVIATA and NQOMT’s MAN OF LA MANCHA. Beth has worked on many productions with THEATREiNQ including COSI, RICHARD III and WHEN THE RAIN STOPS FALLING. She is delighted to be a member of the THEATREiNQ team taking on the challenging role of Lady Bracknell.

sally mccutcheon ................................. gwendolen fairfax

Sally graduated from QUT with a Bachelor of Arts (Drama) performing in THE KID, MUSICAL CHAIRS, THE SILVER CIRCLE PROJECT, CONSUMED, CINDER-CHILD and LOVEJUNK for DEBASE PRODUCTIONS. After a long hiatus, Sally returned to the world of theatre to join THEATREiNQ’s ensemble in 2011 playing the role of Julie in COSI by Louis Nowra.

Anna is an ensemble member of THEATREiNQ performing the roles of Cordelia in KING LEAR, Anne Page in THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR and Princess Elizabeth in RICHARD III. In 2011 Anna received the Martin Gibson Medal for promising young talent at the Jean-Pierre Awards. Anna continues her training with THEATREiNQ through The Bridge Project and will next be seen as a Weird Sister in MACBETH and as Jenny in THE SHAPE OF THINGS this November.

terri brabon .................................. director / miss prism

Terri is the Artistic Director of THEATREiNQ, directing productions of KING LEAR, WHEN THE RAIN STOPS FALLING, THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR, COSI and RICHARD III. Born and bred in Ayr, Terri began her career under the direction of the late Jean-Pierre Voos and along with her partner Brendan, she received the JeanPierre Voos Theatre Award at the 2012 Townsville City Council Arts Awards for saving the annual Shakespeare Under The Stars Event. For the past 9 years, Terri has been a proud member of the AUSTRALIAN SHAKESPEARE COMPANY in Melbourne. TV & Film Credits include: NEIGHBOURS, UNDERBELLY, JOHN DOE and advertising campaigns for CARLTON DRAUGHT, KRAFT and MCDONALDS.

rod wilson .................................................. merriman / lane

This is Rod’s first THEATREiNQ experience but he has been involved with Theatre in Townsville for over thirty years. His first stage appearance was a role in one of his favourite musicals, GUYS AND DOLLS. Since then he has appeared in many other stage productions and musicals with the TOWNSVILLE CHORAL SOCIETY, NQOMT, TOWNSVILLE LITTLE THEATRE and SHAKESPEARE UNDER THE STARS. Rod has also hosted the TOWNSVILLE CHORAL SOCIETY’s annual Theatre Restaurant for over 25 years. Some of his previous shows include CABARET, MY FAIR LADY, CHICAGO and THE TEMPEST to name a few. Rod enjoys comedy and adds two more roles in tonight’s production.

brittany santariga .................................................... maid

Brittany began her career with PROPS YOUTH THEATRE and in 2012 joined THEATREiNQ’s The Bridge Project, continuing her training with the company this year. Brittany has appeared in X-STACY (2013) as Stacy and in the Shakespeare Under The Stars’ productions KING LEAR (2012) and THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR (2011). Earlier this year she was awarded the BELL SHAKESPEARE Regional Scholarship travelling to Sydney for a series of workshops with the company. Brittany will next be seen as a Weird Sister in MACBETH and Evelyn in THE SHAPE OF THINGS this November.

joanne renton ............................................................ maid

As a member of THEATREiNQ’s The Bridge Project, Joanne was the Directors Assistant and Understudy for the Shakespeare Under The Stars production of KING LEAR in 2012. Most recently, Joanne has appeared in THEATREiNQ’s production of X-STACY as Zoe and Production Assistant for LAST POST. Joanne began her career with local children’s theatre company PROPS YOUTH THEATRE and was awarded the Stan Newman Bursary Award at The Festival of One Act Plays.

Emma is currently studying a Bachelor of New Media Arts majoring in Contemporary Theatre at JCU. In 2012, Emma took a placement with THEATREiNQ on their production of WHEN THE RAIN STOPS FALLING and hasn’t looked back, making her stage debut with the company in Shakespeare Under The Stars’ KING LEAR, and continues her training in 2013 as a member of THEATREiNQ’s The Bridge Project. This year Emma has appeared in THEATREiNQ’s production of X-STACY and was a Production Assistant for LAST POST. Emma will next be seen in the Shakespeare Under The Stars’ production of MACBETH in September.

james thomasson ..................................................footman

James has been a member of THEATREiNQ since 2010, appearing in the past three Shakespeare Under The Stars productions KING LEAR, THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR and RICHARD III. In 2012, James joined THEATREiNQ’s The Bridge Project and continues his training with the company this year, most recently appearing as Ben in X-STACY. James will next be seen as Malcolm in MACBETH and Phillip in THE SHAPE OF THINGS this November.

from the director…

I was first introduced to THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST when I was 23 and was cast in the role of Cecily. My director was Jean-Pierre Voos. I fell in love with Oscar Wilde’s caustic wit and delicious characters and this play has remained a firm favourite of mine. I have had the pleasure of appearing in the play 3 times previously and have long desired an opportunity to direct my own production.

I have relived many “Jean-Pierre Moments” over the rehearsal period and have strived to give this cast the same thrilling experience of Wilde that I was given by J-P all those years ago. Many thanks to the cast and to the entire THEATREiNQ Team who continue to inspire and challenge me, and make me so very proud.
