From the Director It is with great pleasure that we are able to bring a taste of Martin McDonagh’s work to the company and to Townsville with The Cripple of Inishmaan. This is by far the most light-hearted of his work, which gives you an indication of how darkly comic he can be. It’s been an absolute joy to work with this cast & production team. There is an amazing short-hand to leading an ensemble who have all worked & trained together for many years. This production is a true collaboration of The Bridge Project, our Core Company and our Professionals. This is exactly what we have been working towards with TheatreiNQ and it is a truly rewarding working environment. Like most plays I direct, I have fallen in love with this script and with the characters. This is a play about belonging. No man, woman or family is an island and in McDonagh’s work, it literally “takes a village to raise a child”.
