SYNOPSIS
Upon the news that his father, the King, has died, Hamlet returns from his studies abroad, only to discover his mother’s plans to hastily marry his uncle. Hamlet’s childhood belief that his parents were the perfect specimens of honour come crashing down around him.
When a Ghost appears, instructing Hamlet to take revenge against his secret assassination, he is unsure who to trust. Is the ghost the spirit of his beloved father or a demon sent to tempt him to do evil? His search for answers will have disastrous results on all those around him.

FROM THE DIRE CTOR
I actually can’t remember how long ago James & I started talking about doing HAMLET together, but it has been a plan for many years. I first met James in 2010 in his first year out of high school. He was already so incredibly passionate about the theatre, soaking up absolutely every opportunity and learning experience he could get his hands on. We always knew he would have a bright future, and now, fresh from graduating from NIDA, we have had the immense pleasure of working with him now as a peer and a friend. And we couldn’t be more proud of him as an actor and as a person.
This is the first time in our 21 Year History that Shakespeare Under the Stars has produced HAMLET and also my first experience with this play. I am incredibly grateful, as always, to the TheatreiNQ Team, who are such a supportive, enthusiastic and dedicated group of people and I am so blessed to get to work with you all year after year. Big thank you also to Townsville, for your continued support of our company and in particular this event.
X Terri

WHO ARE WE? TheatreiNQ has been serving the Townsville community as a professionally driven theatre company for six years lead by leading actors Terri Brabon and Brendan O’Connor.
TheatreiNQ is committed to providing positive, professional and vibrant theatre experiences to regional Queensland through live productions, training opportunities and promotion of regional artists and works produced in the region.
THEATREiNQ ENSEMBLE Much like a dance company or orchestra, TheatreiNQ has a firm basis on the work of ensemble. We do not adopt the traditional Theatrical meaning of this term, but instead, we look to the world of music, where an ensemble is “the degree of precision and unity exhibited by a group performing together.” It is this unity to which we adhere to and strive for. While most Australian Theatre Companies operate from project to project, hiring freelance directors and actors for each production, TheatreiNQ are programming seasons to both challenge and celebrate the strengths of our core and extended ensemble. The unity of the TheatreiNQ Ensemble extends to behind the scenes. Our 40 member strong ensemble includes Stage Management, Technical Crew, Designers and Administration. The company is joined each year by Guest Professsionals from Metropolitan cities as well as local guest performers. This is not a new idea, in fact it was the same principle of Shakespeare’s own company but it is very rare to find such a company in Australia. Since launching as TheatreiNQ in 2010, the company has produced 26 full length productions, facilitated over 50 workshops and master classes, directed the Australian Festival of Chamber Music’s Families’ Concerts in 2013 and 2014 and were Drama Specialists for the Catholic Education Office’s Mulkadee Arts Festival from 2012 – 2014.
