De Griekse choreografen Danae Dimitriadi & Dionysios Alamanos hebben in 2018 tijdens de Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition de XL Production Award gewonnen van € 100.000. Dit is de grootste dansprijs van de wereld! Met die prijs maken zij ‘Free At Last’ samen met Theater Rotterdam. Zij laten zich inspireren door Akram Kahn en door danstradities van over de hele wereld. 21 Pornographies METTE INGVARTSEN Mette studeerde bij P.A.R.T.S, de school van AnneTeresa De Keersmaeker, en werkte als artist-in-residence bij het Kaaitheater/Brussel en de Volksbühne/ Berlijn. Ze is inmiddels op de internationale podia en festivals een veelgevraagde choreograaf. The techniques of pornography have seeped into all aspects of our culture. Twee avonden lang presenteert Dansateliers spraakmakende en opvallende voorstellingen die onder de vleugels van het huis werden ontwikkeld. Choreograaf Joseph Simon, gaat in première met Ballet Russe en verschillende pareltjes uit het verleden van choreografen Jan Martens, Tabea Martin, Liat Waysbort en Marta & Kim komen terug. Haar werk is nooit voorspelbaar en weet zich altijd te omringen door krachtige performers. Corpo Santo is a ritual where you dance to find a sublime moment, transcendence. Tzeni Argyriou heeft jaren in New York als performancekunstenaargewerkt waar zij vooral videoinstallaties maakte. Terug in Athene richt ze zich op chroreograferen. In Anonymo interpreteert zij Griekse tradities als antwoord op de vraag; kunnen we terug naar de basis van dans, het samen vieren van geboorte, dood en het leven? The opening scene of the performance Anonymo is indicative of what is going to follow; seven performers covering their faces with masks made by their own hands. This transformation through masks is doubly symbolic; reminded of the Facebook “wall”.

Marco Goecke’s Midnight Raga (2017) received a Swan award for ‘most impressive dance performance’. Together with Hans van Manen’s Simple Things, he is a big name in the Settle for More production. Bryan Arias and Felix Landerer, dancers from establishments such as NDT and Scapino Ballet Rotterdam are exploring new avenues as choreographers.They are preparing their first show for Settle for More for NDT 2. “Midnight raga is heftig en grotesk” (Theaterkrant)
