Hundreds join anti-Trump protest in Vancouver

Police from at least two jurisdictions rushed to a Canadian Tire story in East Vancouver Thursday, where a man dressed in a dark green hunting jacket and carrying a rifle was shot dead after stabbing an employee and a police officer. Continued on Page 6...

Hundreds of people turned up in downtown Vancouver on Thursday to protest the results of the United States presidential election. Dozens of placards bobbed above the crowd with various slogans disparaging president-elect Donald Trump, ranging from “Build kindness, not walls� and “Proud supporter of love,� to “Make America safe again,� and “Prejudice kills.� The Republican ended a divisive election campaign on Tuesday by pulling off a widely unexpected upset, defeating Clinton in the race to the White House. Hillary lost despite getting more votes than Trump Hillary Clinton just couldn’t hold onto the Obama coalition. And that proved to be a large part of her undoing. African-American, Latino and younger voters failed to show up at the polls in sufficient numbers Tuesday to propel Clinton into the White House. Clinton conceded the race after 2 a.m. ET. Before polls closed her campaign had been confident of victory. In the end, however, she lost even some states thought to be safely in her column, like Wisconsin. She trailed in others, like Pennsylvania and Michigan. While she won the key demographic groups her campaign targeted, she underperformed President Obama across the board, even among women, according to exit poll data. Continued on Page 7...
