The Ashcombe Sixth Form offers a wide range of courses designed to develop students’ interests and skills, allowing for a smooth progression into higher education, employment or apprenticeship.

OUR CURRICULUM OFFER The curriculum model for Sixth Form students comprises a strong academic focus at its core and several layers of opportunities around this core for students to extend themselves beyond the pure academic provision.

Our 3+1 Curriculum is achieved by students taking three A-level courses, forming their core portfolio. In addition the +1 Supplementary options (one year long), the enrichment and co-curricular programme provide further opportunities for students to extend their skill-set.

Students will sit their progression exams in the summer of 2024 before A-level exams in 2025. RATIONALE • All students start with three subjects following the Open

June. • The +1 options, enrichment and co-curricular programme enable students to broaden their qualifications and skill-set. • Students will be able to gauge their progress following their progression exam results, which will help them make an informed decision regarding University choices. 3+1 CURRICULUM • First year: 3 A-level subjects • First year: +1 supplementary options + Enrichment • Second year: 3 A-levels • Second year: Enrichment • A-level students may take English or Mathematics GCSE (if required)

ONE YEAR PROGRAMME One year Cambridge Technicals Business course: with Mathematics and English GCSE (if necessary). If any students are interested in studying any other subjects at A-level please discuss this with Mr Blackband.
