Message from the Board President
It is both exciting and humbling to be serving as President of the Board of Directors of The Arc of Chester County – an outstanding organization that has spent the last 70 years being a voice of equity, respect, and inclusion for individuals with disabilities and their families.
Let me first extend my sincerest gratitude to Matt Holliday, our Immediate Past President, who during his Presidency led The Arc through incredibly challenging times with tremendous dedication and leadership. He has certainly left BIG shoes to fill! I am equally touched that, for the third year in a row, every board member has renewed their service on the board. This organization is truly blessed to be led by such talented, smart, and incredibly passionate leaders with an unwavering dedication to individuals with disabilities and their families. I am truly honored to be serving with them and for all of you!
During the past year, The Arc of Chester County kicked-off an 18-month celebration campaign to recognize its 70th Anniversary milestone. As we reflect on the last seven decades, we pay homage to trailblazers of the past whose extraordinary work broke down barriers and dispelled many myths. Significant legislation was passed, many entitlements were secured, and, while not nearly enough, funding was made available to support individuals with disabilities and their families. The journey of advocating to ensure that individuals with disabilities are afforded the opportunity to choose how they live, work, and spend their leisure has been legendary. But as we know, the work is never done and true to our roots and our founder’s vision, we will continue to meet with legislators and community leaders to provide more resources and better service access so this marginalized population can live with the quality of life we all aspire to have.
Every year the impact and successes of The Arc are directly linked to the hard work of many employees, volunteers, board members, families, friends, and agency partners. In the pages that follow, we are proud to highlight the significant work being done by our skilled and compassionate staff, as well as the incredible impact that our donors and partners have on those entrusted in our care.
In closing, I would thank the individuals and families we serve for the privilege to support and advocate with you in your homes, at work and our community at large. As we celebrate the pioneers who have built a solid foundation for The Arc of Chester County, we gratefully acknowledge the many that have joined us in the past seven decades. Together, we are helping individuals with disabilities and their families to Achieve with us every day!
Yours in service,
Adam Lamb Board President
