Mark Stoner is a Melbourne-based sculptor whose career spans more than four decades. His work often draws on the textures, rhythms, and forms of the natural world, translating them into largescale public installations and intimate studio pieces. If you’ve ever wandered along the Geelong foreshore, passed through Adelaide Airport, or visited the Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne, chances are you’ve encountered one of his sculptures.
Mark’s practice has taken him from the classroom—where he taught ceramics and sculpture at the Victorian College of the Arts for nearly thirty years—to major exhibitions like Sculpture by the Sea and the Biennale of Australian Art. His work is held in national collections, including the National Gallery of Victoria and the National Gallery of Australia, cementing his place as one of the country’s respected voices in contemporary sculpture.
Today, he continues to create from his Mt Martha studio, exploring how land, water, and memory can be shaped into form.
