H.V. Montgomery Follow the Curve 2 Dec - 24 Dec 2023

H.V. Montgomery The seed for this exhibition was planted some 25 years ago whilst stacking firewood. I came across a solid block of seasoned redgum and thought, ‘Mmmm, this is too good to burn!’ So I took it home and created my ‘Visitors’ with it.

Ever since then I have continued to eke out the time and energy to pursue my chosen craft, constantly juggling work and family commitments as well.

With each new work I have burrowed deeper into my psyche to create more complex and curious creations.

My process is simple.

I just ‘Follow the Curve’ and I’m on my way.

I would like to sincerely thank all of the crew at Perrin Sculpture Foundry for helping me to realise my visions.

H.V. Montgomery Consistently fascinated by our natural world and the elemental forces that shape our universe, local artist H.V Montgomery strives to create sculptural work that uncovers a secret world hiding just out of our view. Ruminations on life forms mutating and evolving on this and other planets feed this artists imagination and drive his creative force. Preconceived notions of perfection are vigorously challenged through the work, the only desired outcome is to find harmonious balance and homogeny. After sculptural explorations in a wide variety of materials including welded steel and recycled Australian timbers H.V Montgomery is currently focusing on cast works in limited edition. The works are born in the natural environment on numerous camping trips and beach excursions and completed in the workshop and foundry.
