ACC Field Hockey Season Wrap-Up North Carolina finished the season with a perfect 5-0 mark in conference play to clinch the No. 1 seed in the ACC Championship for the second straight year. ACC teams finished the season with a 56-21 record against nonconference opponents, including 22 wins over teams ranked in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll. North Carolina and Maryland both held the No. 1 spot in the nation this year, with the Terrapins starting the season at the top and the Tar Heels holding it for six weeks. Three schools - North Carolina, Maryland, and Virginia - stayed in the top 10 in the country for the entire year while all six ACC teams were ranked in the same week six times. North Carolina’s Karen Shelton became the first coach to reach 100 career ACC victories in September. ACC teams have won the last ten NCAA Championship titles.
