It is imperative that school facilities stay “in the mix” in conversations regarding improvements to education. It has been shown in countless studies that modern facilities play a crucial role in the quality of a child’s education. School district facility managers should be certified in areas of health, safety, code compliance and operations. Facility managers should also be knowledgeable in building systems, up-todate and have the skills necessary to properly manage the facilities.

School personnel, who have appropriate experience in facility management, receive satisfactory recommendations, and who complete the required coursework, are eligible for certification. Participating individuals will receive as a Certified Facilities Director (CFD) a final official certificate upon completion of the program. To learn more about the CFD Program, find the Constituent Groups tab on the AAEA web site, click on the tab, and then scroll down to the ASPMA page. Information on the certification requirements can be downloaded.

Exciting News! AAEA and Dr. Bill Daggett, Successful Practices Network (SPN), have teamed up to work with Superintendents and their teams to chart a bold course of action to continuously improve conditions for children and their families. Superintendents cannot achieve large scale innovative change alone. Transformation requires an intentionally aligned team, focused on providing youth with the skills and knowledge they need for success in their future. Building capacity within the system for intentional, controlled innovation can be enhanced with personalized coaching.

The Arkansas Innovative Leadership Cohort is a yearlong blended support model for superintendents and their leadership teams to work together, to study best practices, to stretch and be supported by such national thought leaders as Ray McNulty, Bill Daggett and others. For additional information, including how to sign up for the cohort, click here.

The Cohort will kick off with the Innovative Leadership Conference June 1, 2020, in Little Rock. The conference is open to everyone.
