BORN FOR THIS

A public person for life

My name is Constance Philomena Chasi, now Mrs Chifamba. I am also known as MC Ginger. I was born in Harare in the early eighties and grew up in Norton, Zimbabwe. I attended the University of Zimbabwe for my first degree in Social Work and Administration, and for my master’s I enrolled at the Midlands State University in Gweru.

The events planning business I run started off as a passion. However, I later discovered I was gifted to be an amazing public speaker, actress, chorister and stager. My attendance of some poorly organised community events was eye opening to the extent of giving me a problem statement to resolve. I took a chance in one event as an MC. From then, I have performed remarkably well at any opportune moment, much to the amusement of guests from all walks of life. Before I knew it, official invitations grew in number, thus marking how I became an Events Specialist. I get to manage almost everything linked to an occasion. The process to formally register my one-stopshop investments company is well on course.

I should hasten to say my staging business has a linkage to Art, due to my background. I was in the Writers and Drama clubs and choral groups, both at church and school. The exposure I got prepared me enough to be who I am today. I wrote and presented a number of poems and performed theatrical arts on so many occasions.

My late parents (Mr and Mrs Chasi), the Lord Almighty and the community at large, played a pivotal role at inspiring me to dream big as a stager. Now that I have already started, I shall continue to run my race to a formidable end, for all the support I got I'm truly grateful. Not forgetting the teamwork plus support from my loving Hubby "Chief", "Baby Chief" my son Nashe and Nashe's onestopevents staff.

The name "Lady Ginger" was given to me by Mr. Micah Moses, a church elder and Father who discovered that I had an amazing talent and had potential to grow in the Arts industry. I am a Registered MC and Events Director with Zimbabwe Directors of Ceremonies Association under the Zimbabwe Arts Council.

I consider myself to be smart, as a matter of fact, I am very intelligent in my service delivery tactics. Being a female in a male dominated industry, one would question why choose MC Ginger? Well, I do not operate on gender basis, but I perform my work passionately. I do what I know best. I am extremely hilarious, well organised, flexible, and professional. I exude a lot of confidence. The fact that I am a qualified administrator is an enhancing advantage. I thrive for excellence in Events Management, and I carry out diligent research so as to provide the best equipment and services to my clientele. This is one of the reasons why they call me "Ginger," as in tsangamidzi (Shona word). They view me as a cure to a problem solved at a moments' call, #heavylikeleather.

The value additive roles I now partake as a chef and decor designer came merely as per the experience gained through my operational years, though I have attended short courses to enhance my practical knowledge. To a greater extent, I am almost perfect now, though I learn every day because every event is unique.

By and large, I believe I can fly. So far I have implemented most of the dreams I had. However, I want to grow bigger and better as a stager, service provider and consultant. I am honoured and blessed to be part of the Hundred Sailors. I get inspired in so many ways through the work of prominent Artists like my brother Takudzwa VaChikepe The Poet, Tallence Sanyangowe my little sister, Advocate Nyanduri and a countless others. It is a unique group of serious creatives ranging from writers, editors, actors, and actresses who are success bound. I like the zeal, dedication, and hard work we put in our projects. I will never leave this group, so help me God.
