Mr. Steven Edelson (TMA 2009), went to Franciscan University to continue his love for and double major in Theology and Philosophy He came back to Montfort in 2018 where it all started. This year, Mr Edelson took on a new role of being the Dean of Students on top of being the Theology teacher for juniors and seniors, and freshman and senior boys Chivalry

The first question I asked Mr Edelson was, “How has your role as Dean of Students changed your day to day routine at Montfort?” The main difference is being more present to and for the students. During lunch and after school he makes it a point to be around and interact with students more frequently He explains how he got to know them on a more personal level through the promotion of his position Mr Edelson highlighted how being present during lunch and dismissal helped him better understand the needs of the students zawwad@themontfortacademy.org

Mr. Edelson who graduated from Montfort in 2009, agrees that he has a special connection to the school and the students. "Yes," he immediately added He believes that it is a privilege to be a fellow Montfort knight with all students.

“I think that shared of experience and formation of having gone through a Montfort education is part of what moves me towards the greatest good of the student body” He also appreciates the bonds that he has cultivated with students even more. “I love how many different personalities and characteristics of our Knights. The conversations I have with them are always different based on their own unique passions ” Mr Edelson describes how he has taught the students, and the students teach him. Most importantly, he says, "I am here to serve."

I asked some of our teachers what music they are in love with The first person I asked was Mr. Edelson. He said he enjoys opera, classical, reggae, and older Disney classics Some of his favorite musicians are Beethoven, Bob Marley, John Denver (who released “Take Me Home, Country Roads”), Celene Dion, and Whitney Houston He also enjoys the music from the musical Les Misérables

Mr. Boyle has a quite different musical taste. He enjoys classic rock and country. His favorite artists are Midland, Eric Church, and Tom Petty Fr Leo enjoys classic rock as well, as he grew up on it. He also listens to classical opera and sacred music (especially during Advent and Lent). Sometimes he will even listen to pop music!
