BOHDAN “BUD” HERCYK BOHDAN “BUD” HERCYK
BATH, NY: Bohdan "Bud" Hercyk of Bath, New York, passed away peacefully at home on ursday, July 27, 2023. He was 89. Bud was born February 02, 1934, in Ukraine and was the son of the late John and Maria Kobernicka Hercyk. Bud was married to Beverly Joy (Waldo) Hercyk.
Bud moved to Bath in 1953. In addition to being a US Veteran, he owned a burial vault and general contractor business. Bud was a master cra sman who built and beauti ed many homes in the Bath area. He continued to enjoy working around his home and ower garden long into his retirement. Bud was also a lifelong soccer player and enthusiast and would regularly be seen at local matches. Bud and Bev were also adventurous global travelers and visited numerous locations across the US, Europe, and Africa. ese travels included visiting his homeland of Ukraine in 2004.
Bud is survived by his wife of 68 years, Beverly, and their children, Darren Hercyk (Lori) and Je Hercyk (Corinna), and daughter-in-law, Julie Hercyk. Bud is also survived by seven grandchildren, Grace Nofzinger (Johnathan), Rose Nicol (Joshua), Christian Hercyk (Caroline), Caleb Hercyk, Ezra Hercyk, Jacquelyn Seeley (Justin Jurek), and Jessie Hercyk. Bud is also survived by four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Darrell Hercyk. In addition, Bud was predeceased by his sisters Ann Mulyk and Olga Brodyn and brothers Samuel Hercyk, Joseph Hercyk, and Eugene Hercyk.
A family statement read: Bud was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was endlessly generous and lived a life of Christ-like service to his family, community, and beyond. We will miss him greatly, but his life will live on through anyone who knew him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Bond-Davis Funeral Home, 107 E. Steuben Street, Bath, New York on Saturday, August 26th. Calling hours will be from 2:00PM-3:00PM and a memorial service will follow at 3:00PM.

Elaine Howell Elaine Howell
SAVONA, NY: Elaine Howell 60, of Savona passed unexpectedly on April 29, 2023. She was the daughter of Elwood T. Hilligus and Joyce Eaves, born on May 1, 1962 in the town of Urbana.
Her dedication to her work ethic had her in the bakery business for the majority of her 45+ working years. Elaine was the hardest working woman you’ve ever met. Starting with babysitting at the age of 13, followed by the old pizza shop in Hammondsport, where she grew up. She started at P&C Foods in 1980, and spent over 30 years at various locations and in many departments. Her favorite department was the bakery, where she had a deep love for her work, and she spent the greater part of her career at P&C and nishing as the Bakery Manager at Tops Markets. During the early years of her professional career, she worked full and part-time, all while being the best mother anyone could want and providing for her two children as a single mother.
Elaine loved to shop as much as she liked to keep busy. She frequented Mac’s Dairy Bar, Oak Hill and Dutch Kuntry, o en with family and friends and penny shopping at the local DG’s. Spending time with her family was always on her to-do list. Her love of family was a trait she possessed beginning in her childhood, always making sure everything and everyone was taken care of and thought about. Elaine had a deep a ection for animals, especially her furry son Kenseth, and grandpup Olive. Taking care of her “babies”, the hummingbirds, was her favorite time of year and she always watched for visiting cardinals.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Richard. Her best friend and daughter Kaylie Nichols (Eric Zurlick). Her sons, Kyle Nichols (Jennifer Catron), Kavan Howell (Taylor Dillon), and Tristan Howell.
Sisters, Carolyn Hilligus (Steve), Marcia Guiles, Deb DeCamp (Roger), Kari Adams (Todd) and Amy Farrand (Steve). Brothers, Brian Hilligus (Mary), Richard Eaves (Lisa), Bruce Hilligus (Kelli), Gus Hilligus, and om Tebo (Mary). Her mother and father-in-law, Peg and Tom Tebo. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Pam Turner. Mom was one of the best humans to grace everyone’s world as well as the best Mother, wife, sister, friend, cornhole champion and smack talker.
To know her was to love her. And in the words of her idol, Dolly Parton, “I Will Always Love You”. Elaine was always helping those in need and paying it forward. She had a long-time devotion and respect for animals and our country’s Veterans. In lieu of owers, donations in her name can be made to your local SPCA or Veteran related association.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 1:00PM-6:00PM at White Tail Ridge Farm, 9311 West Road Savona, New York.

HAMMONDSPORT, NY: Linda A. Grimes, 71, of Hammondsport, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening, August 1, 2023 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania.
A graduate of Frostburg University in Maryland, Linda received a master’s degree in business administration. She was a devout member of St. James Episcopal Church in Hammondsport.
An animal lover, Linda loved the Hammondsport area and enjoyed traveling.
She is lovingly survived by her husband of 40 years, Wayne Grimes; two brothers, Floyd Gooding, Jr. of Maryland and Brian (Jenny) Gooding of Oregon; as well as several nieces and nephews, who she adored.
