JOHN W. COUMBE

BATH, NY: John W. Coumbe, 84, passed away on Monday July 10, 2023 at the Steuben Centers with his family by his side. He was born in Bath, NY on June 6, 1939 the son of the late Warren Coumbe and Julia (Potter) Coumbe.

John graduated from Haverling High School and from Alfred State College. John married Claretha Townsend on April 24, 1965 in Bath, NY. John served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969.

John worked at Corning Inc. as a Programmer and retired in 2003. He was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church and Steuben Bowl. John enjoyed bowling and was one of the Bath Ramp Guys, and the Web Master of the Centenary United Methodist Church.

He was predeceased by his parents, and in-laws

Clarence and Oletha Townsend.

John is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Claretha Coumbe; two daughters Deanna (Bret) Jacoby of El Cajon, CA, Susan Lyon of Woodhull, NY; grandchildren Tamera (Noe) Ramirez of Livingston, TX, Beth Williams (Derek Gauss), Mitchell Williams of Woodhull, NY, Brent Williams (Madelyn Bliss) of Woodhull, NY; brothers Bill (Brenda) Coumbe of Anchorage AK, Allan (Dorothy) Coumbe of Creal Springs, Il, and Dale (Becky) Coumbe of FL; many nieces and nephews and close friends Carol (Kaky) Reppert.

A private burial with Honors will be at Bath National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
