BATH, NY: Joyce A. Kautz, age 79, of 6003 Bonny Hill Road, Bath, died ursday, February 16, 2023 at her home.

Born in Jersey City, NJ on January 26, 1944, she was the daughter of Kenneth & Ann (Bobownik) Downey.

Joyce grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1962). She had been employed for a time as a Nurse’s Aide at the former St. James Mercy Hospital and has resided in the Bath, New York area since 1972.

She enjoyed knitting and making beautiful sweaters for family and friends. She also loved watching the “soaps” on TV — especially “ e Young & e Restless” and was passionate about wildlife photography. Joyce also had a deep love of family and always looked forward to visiting the Bobownik & Downey families.Joyce had a deep a ection for animals and was especially fond of her pet yorkie, “Toby” and feline companion, “Peek-A-Boo.”

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Kautz who died in 1998 and her sister, Elizabeth Stevenson who died in 1999.

Surviving are her “signi cant other”, David Bacon with whom she resided; her daughter, Maryanne (Joe) Sears of Midland, NC; three sisters, Judy (Mike) Crook of Canisteo, Kathy (Al Reynolds) Chiarelli of Hornell and Susie Cook of Painted Post, NY; her brother, Ken (Lisa Postilli) Downey of Hornell; four grandchildren, Alexandria “Alex” (Matt) Goins, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Coulter, Adam Sears & Mya Sears; one great-grandson, Cameron “Cam” Underwood; several nieces & nephews.

At Joyce’s request there will be no calling hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, New York.

Donald J. Bates peacefully le this earthly life to reunite with his heavenly family on April 8, 2023. He was born to a family of nine children and o en told stories of his fun childhood.

Donald was a proud 52-year employee of Mercury Aircra , in Hammondsport, starting as a shipping clerk and then a purchasing agent, a job that he enjoyed right up until his retirement.

Donald relished his time at the country place; hunting, shing, and keeping the grounds. It was a place that lled his retirement years with much joy. It was in his twilight years that he enjoyed the simpler life, such as sitting on the porch to visit with friends and family, enjoying an occasion a game of rummy, or a trip to Depot Park in Hammondsport to enjoy the sights and sound of the tourist and the lake lovers.

He is survived by his loving partner of 35 years Wilma (Hallett) Storm; son Donnie (JoAnn) Bates; daughter Jenifer Miller; sister Barbra Jones; brother Roger Bates; sister Linda (John) Frey; and many nieces and nephews. He was Grandpa to Bradley and Leah, Poppy to Andrea and Kathryn, and Great-Grandpa to Grady, McKenna, and Sage. He was predeceased by his parents Francis and Flosie (Smith) Bates; brother Richard Bates; sisters Pauline Stratton, Mary Wagner, Nancy Gleason, and Lois Ellis. To honor his wishes the nal arrangements will be private.

Donna was born to the late Donald Sr. and Doris Horton on September 28, 1950 at Corning Hospital. She was a graduate of Campbell Central School.

Donna worked for many years at Westinghouse/Philips Lighting in Bath, NY. Donna was a lifetime member of the Campbell American Legion, Bath Legion and the Moose. She was also a member of the Legion Riders.

Donna is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Bill Park, that was with her to her last breath. ey were always together and loved each other beyond words and through all obstacles life threw their way. She is also survived by her daughters, Tracy (Paul) Payne and Amy Park and her granddaughter, Kalyska Payne. She is their hero and they love her with all their heart.
