HAMMONDSPORT /LAKEMONT/PENN YAN: omas Mandell ''Tom'' Chadwick, age 92, formerly of Hammondsport, NY died Sunday January 29, 2023 at Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home, in Penn Yan, NY.

Honoring the families wishes, there are no calling hours. Graveside services will be held in Lakemont Cemetery, Hayes Road, Lakemont, NY, at the convenience of the family.

Tom was born February 7, 1930, in Geneva, NY, the son of the late Peter Mandell and Helen Frances (Clark) Chadwick, Lakemont, NY. He graduated from Dundee Central School in May of 1947. On Feb. 7, 1981, in Annapolis, MD he married the former Glynis M. ‘Lyn’ Smith.

Tom ran the family farm until 1964 when the family moved to Hammondsport, NY. Tom was employed by Taylor Wine, of Hammondsport from 1965 – 1993, retiring as Director of Grower’s Relations. Mr. Chadwick was a very busy man all his life. A member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hammondsport; an active founding member of the Curtiss Park, and Depot Park in Hammondsport; and a former member of the Urbana Town Board. Other former memberships include the Dundee Flying Club, Dundee Rotary Club, and former President of the Lakemont Cemetery Assoc. In his limited spare-time he could be found in his yard gardening, or cutting rewood, unless it was hunting season.

He is survived by his wife of almost 42 years ‘Lyn’ Chadwick currently of the Penn Yan Manor; his daughter Catherine A. Chadwick of New York City; step son Roy L. (Sandy) Hepler of Himrod, NY; 5 grandchildren Michael (Michelle) Baker, Kelsey Baker (Jonah), Curtiss (Jeni) Hepler, Christopher (Colleen) Hepler, and Craig Kapp; 4 great grandchildren Emerald, Etta, Asher, & Hunter; former son in law Peter Baker; and sister in law Elizabeth 'Betty' Chadwick; along with several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by daughter Nancy Jane Chadwick in 1954, and his brother Alden Clark Chadwick in 2001.
