BATH, NY: Clara D. Leonard age 89, of Bath, NY passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 25, 2022 following a long illness. Clara was born in Bath, NY on June 22, 1933 to George Carl and Stella (Rarrick) Wise, the only daughter of 8 children. She married Donald Leonard in Bath on July 21, 1962 and they enjoyed 55 years together. After leaving the Leonard family farm in 1971 they resided in Kanona until Don’s death in 2018.
She retired from Phillips Lighting in Bath, formally Westinghouse, after many years of service. She and Don enjoyed camping with the Keuka Campers of NCHA and cherished the friendships made over the years participat ing in this organization. Clara was a member of Bethel Assembly of God church in Bath which her father helped to build, and she attended faithfully. She loved her family, and we all have fond memories of her hosting holiday meals which were always later than planned. Clara very much enjoyed making various crafts, especially with her grandchil dren, quilting and was an avid reader. In her later years she participated in the local TOPS chapter and looked forward to breakfast out with the ladies after the weigh-ins!
She is survived by her daughter Marcia (John) Miller of Lancaster, PA; son Richard (Linda) Selbig of Scottsburg, NY; son Ron (Deb) Leon ard of Hammondsport, NY; daughter Debbie (Mike) Preston of Bath, NY; grandchildren Melissa Miller of Ellicott City, MD; Todd (Liz) Miller of Eddystone, PA; Amy (Steve) Thur ston, of Lancaster, PA; David (Catalina) Leon ard of Fuquay-Varina, NC; Amy (Richey) Oliver of Belleville, MI; Aaron (Samantha) Preston of Campbell, NY and Megan Preston of Bath, NY; great-grandchildren, Trey Miller, Anissa Miller, Ty Miller, Judah Miller, Sofia Thurston, Sofia Leonard, Gabriela Leonard, Henry Oliver and Theodore Preston. Her brother, Jack (Evelyn) Wise of St. Petersburg, FL; sisters-in-laws Celia Wise of Bath, NY and Mary Wise of Willow Street, PA. As well as many nieces and nephews who were all very special to her.
She was predeceased by her husband; her parents; brothers Eldon Wise; Ralph Wise; Franklin Wise; Theodore Wise; Dick Wise and David Wise as well as several sisters-in-law whom she enjoyed time with through the years.
Calling hours were Saturday, December 3rd from 12:00-2:00PM at Bond-Davis Funeral Home, 107 E. Steuben St., Bath, New York where funeral services followed at 2:00PM with the Rev. Moses Baker officiating. Burial was at Grove Cemetery, Bath, NY following the service. The family would like to thank Dr. Cranmer and CareFirst for the wonderful care they provided our mother.

SAVONA, NY: Carolyn A. Van Housen passed away on Tuesday November 29, 2022 at her home. She was born June 3, 1933 to Catherine Rogers and Andrew Jensen. She married Sterling Van Housen on October 21, 1951 in Penn Yan, New York.
She is survived by her sons Wayne (Dawn) Van Housen, Keith (Dee) Van Housen, grandchil dren Jenise (Steven) Howard, Kelly (Mark) Gurnsey and David Van Housen, great grand children Garrett (Alexandra) Howard, Dakota (Alexis) Gurnsey, Sierra Gurnsey, Bryant (Sierra) Gurnsey, Jordan Van Housen and Aiden Gurnsey, sisters Elsie (Roger) Eighmey, Dorothy Worrel and brother Donald (Jean) Jensen and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Sterl, son Dale E. Van Housen, her parents and stepfather Harry Rogers and brother Andy Jensen. Mom belonged or helped many organizations in Savona, she loved working in the Savona Central School cafeteria, all the students were her grandchildren and supported them all until mom's retirement in 1992 as a manager.
Mom's greatest joy was her family, she loved and supported them all, especially the care and love that mom and dad gave Dale, they taught us all what family and love was all about and how to raise our own families.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. She will be buried along side of her husband at Seaman Cemetery Savona, NY.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a special meeting of the qualified voters of the Bath Central School District shall be held at the District Office in said District, on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, between the hours of 12:00 Noon and 8:00 P.M. The following proposition will be submitted for voter approval at said meeting:

Shall the following resolution be adopted to wit: Resolved that the Board of Education of the Bath Central School District is hereby authorized to undertake certain capital improvements consisting of construction and reconstruction of existing school buildings and facilities, various site improvements and the acquisition of certain original furnishings, equipment, and apparatus and other incidental improvements required in connection therewith for such construction and school use, all at an estimated maximum aggregate cost of $42,500,000; and to appropriate and expend from the existing capital reserve fund $1,000,000 for such costs, and that the balance of such cost, or so much thereof as may be necessary, shall be raised by the levy of a tax to be collected in annual installments, with such tax to be offset by state aid available therefor; and, in anticipation of such tax, debt obligations of the school district as may be necessary not to exceed $41,500,000 shall be issued.
NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that the text of the aforesaid proposition may appear on the ballot labels in the following abbreviated form:

The School District, acting as lead agency under the State Environmental Quality Review Act and the applicable regulations promulgated thereunder (“SEQRA”), has completed its environmental review and, on September 14, 2022, has duly issued a negative declaration and has determined that the implementation of the type I action as proposed will not result in any significant adverse environmental impacts.
AND NOTICE IS GIVEN that military voters who are not currently registered may apply to register as a qualified voter of the School District by requesting to be registered by the District Clerk at (607) 776-3301 or dpatterson@bathcsd.org.
