Dear Friends, It is that special time of year when we hold our loved ones a little tighter, count our blessings and celebrate the meaning of the season by reaching out to those less fortunate. For many of us, our holiday festivities often include our treasured companion animals, as they so enrich our lives with unconditional love & loyalty – all year round.

While you’re busy making holiday preparations, we hope you will take some time to remember the many cats and dogs without good homes or caring families to share their love. “Callie”, “Moose”, “Ace”, “Jupiter”, “Ginger and Freddie”, “Big Ben” are just seven of the over 100 canines and felines currently being cared for by our shelter while they await adoption. FLSPCA is currently providing a sanctuary for 8 homeless equines, 16 pigs, 3 cows, 5 chickens, 3 ducks and one rabbit as well. It would be just wonderful if all our orphan animals could find forever homes for the holidays.

Unfortunately, many will still need the protective care the Shelter provides — all through the season.

Over this past year, private contributions to the FLSPCA have saved the lives of animals, reduced animal suffering, provided care for pets of financially struggling families and supported community education. In 2019, we helped hundreds of homeless animals find loving families. We spayed/neutered ~ 400 family pets & community cats through our Project Catnip & TNVR clinics for low or no cost. We provided canine training classes to over 70 human and canine students. We responded to a multitude of requests from law enforcement to aid animal cruelty and accident victims and “at risk” animals. In 2019, we also provided humane education and tours of our new shelter to hundreds of area youth and adults in our community. The Shelter is not a government entity. Our operating budget is funded primarily by private donations. Gifts help sustain orphan animal care, subsidized spay/neuter, humane education, adoption, canine training and outreach programs which prevent cruelty. These services directly help needy animals and preserve & strengthen the human-companion animal bond. Your gift stays in our region and benefits your neighbors and community animals.
