1) Many cities and villages in New York State appoint their Highway Superintendents along with many towns (see listing below).

2) The Fremont Town Board believes the duties of the Highway Superintendent are fundamentally apolitical. All residents need and deserve safe roads and bridges, and efficient snow removal.

3) The Elected Town Board believes the professional qualifications and accountability associated with appointed positions can ensure quality of public service for all residents and assure that its team of professionals can work together to achieve goals set by those elected to represent the people of the Town.

4) To change these positions from elected to appointed, the Town must organize a referendum for voters to decide if the law should go into effect, hold a public hearing and pass a local law 5) A chart outlining some of the differences between elected and appointed highway positions appears below as well.

TOWN OF BRADFORD, NY Hello, let me start by introducing myself to the community members that do not know me. My entire life has been dedicated to the communities I have lived in. At an earlier age I felt the need to do all I could to help the people of my community. I have been in the Volunteer Fire/EMS field for over 15 years, as a firefighter, EMT, Chief and Department President. I am certified and have worked with heavy equipment for over 30 years as an operator/driver. I am committed to making the Town of Bradford a better place to live.

Over the past several years, I have had many community members approach me with concerns as to how the current highway department has been run, more so after the latest NYS Comptroller’s report. High mileage on the town pickup, fuel expenses out of control, and over all lack of accountability. These are the areas I WILL resolve if elected. I am a hands-on supervisor and will continue to work side by side, day in and day out with the highway department crew. It is time to provide our community tax payers with what they deserve.
