Strata Florida
Strata Forida: I worked at the ruined Abbey site every day for about a month. I kept a visual diary/map of each day. Each panel shows where I went, what happened, how the weather changed and who I met. It actually starts on day 3 as I hadn’t thought of the idea till a couple of days into the job. The drawing of the figure (left), is a piece of sculpture on a hill top close by, called ‘The Pilgrim’ by Glen Morris, with panoramic views all around. I could see this sculpture from my working position every time I looked up. I had to walk up there to see it close to. The drawing of the archway I gave to a member of staff working at the site. I was introduced to a new friend called Shaun, we rode mountain bikes around the surrounding countryside and explored the area. My task there, to permanently display two poems written specifically for the site by Gwyneth Lewis one in English and one in Welsh.
