WHAT IS SOONERS’ CHOICE? H

ere at ESCAPE, we like to know what YOU like. What are the things that make your day and keep you going? Thus, thanks to our wonderful advertising department, Sooners’ Choice was born. We sent out a survey to the entire campus asking for your opinion on your favorite services, shopping, food, parts of campus and more. Each winner will receive a Sooners’ Choice certificate, letting them know they mean a lot to the OU community. We think it’s important for your voices to be heard, so this issue contains the top three picks from each category. Use them as a guide to try new places you’ve never been before, or as a point of pride that you picked the best place around. Here are a few facts to keep in mind as you browse the issue:

There were 678 respondents to the sooners’ choice survey online. voters had the option to pass over categories they were’nt familiar with.

This year, we added a write-in option. if you didn’t like any of the choices, you were welcome to provide your own.

LOOK FOR: TREND TALK These little blurbs will explain the general voting trends in each category.

see these yellow thought bubbles for interesting facts about specific categories and explanations on ties between some winners.

The blue thought bubbles will contain social media shoutouts to some of the winners.

the survey was given through the oklahoma daily website, and links were provided through twitter and facebook.

Unlike the food category, the shopping category showed Sooners don’t always head straight to Campus Corner for their shopping needs. Larger chains like Best Buy and Forever 21 were winners in this section. Still, local haunts like Balfour and Stella Rae’s also won their categories, so all is not lost for local businesses when it comes to shopping. There was only one tie between two winners in the Bargain Hunt category. It seems Sooners’ shopping preferences are mostly decisive.

with so many great professors on campus, it seems sooners had a hard time deciding on their favorite professor. this category had the most write-ins of any category in the sooners’ choice survey with 240 write-ins. Out of the write-ins, david ray and wayne thomas tied with six votes each, but doug gaffin still beat them all with a total of 102 votes.
