Election remains too close to call Some states continue to tally record number of votes, extending presidential race results indefinitely the opportunit y to spend election night w ith his fellow members of the College Republicans.

College Democrats also held an election night watch to discuss the results as they came in. The club gathered in the Dahnke Ballroom in the Duncan Student Center, and around 150 people joined the watch over the course of the night.

With several states still counting ballots, no clear w inner has been determined and the 2020 presidential election is expected to continue for days.

Trump secured the electoral votes of battleground states including Florida, Ohio and Iowa early Wednesday, but a number of other key states — Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan — are still too close to call.

Arizona was the first state to f lip from its 2016 results and favor Biden over Trump.

Cities across the nation are still counting ballots by mail.

Officials in Pennsylvania expect most votes to be counted by Friday, and Michigan’s secretar y of state said she expects finalized results to be in by Wednesday night.

Trump’s Florida w in was among his most significant v ictories. He won a number of votes in Miami-Dade Count y unexpectedly and gained 29 electoral votes by w inning the state.

As of 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Democrats picked up Senate seats in Colorado and Arizona, but Republicans f lipped A labama and maintained a stronghold in states Democrats were hoping to break through. Democrats are expected to maintain control of the House.

Speaking to supporters in Delaware early Wednesday, Biden said he remains optimistic regarding the outcome of the election. Biden also urged patience throughout the night and expressed a commitment to the democratic process.

“It’s not my place or Donald Trump’s place to declare who’s won this election,” Biden said. “That’s the decision of the American people.”

As his w ife Jill Biden clapped and cheered beside him, Biden thanked his supporters in Delaware and across the nation.

“I’m grateful to the poll workers, to our volunteers, to our canvassers,” he said.

Around an hour after Biden delivered his statement, Trump addressed a room of supporters in the W hite House. He declared v ictor y, though several key states had not yet been called, and made false claims regarding election results and ballot validit y. He also vowed to go to the Supreme Court to stop

counting ballots.

“We want all voting to stop,” Trump said. “We don’t want them to find any ballots at 4 o’clock in the morning and add them to the list.

This is a ver y sad moment, to me this is a ver y sad moment, and we w ill w in this.

As far as I’m concerned, we already have.”

Notre Dame College Democrats and College Republicans both held election watches Tuesday night to follow along w ith the results in real time.

Gathering in Room 102 in DeBartolo Hall, the College Republicans cheered on the incumbent as they tuned into Fox News. Sophomore Adam Mor ys, president of College Republicans, said he holds conser vative ideals “across

the board,” and he feels that while Donald Trump is not “100%” conser vative, he still agrees w ith the president on most issues — most importantly, abortion. “[Trump’s] definitely a lot more pro-life than Joe Biden is,” Mor ys said.

Mor ys thought the biggest surprise of the night was Arizona f lipping to favor Biden. Despite the loss for Trump, Mor ys still believed the president had a path to reelection, and he expressed skepticism regarding the loss.

“There’s some people who are contesting whether Arizona has really been won by Biden yet or not,” he said around 2:40 a.m.

Junior Emma Dudrick, one of the co-presidents of College Democrats, said she was disappointed to watch Trump maintain a stronghold in states Democrats were hoping to f lip. Since many states had not yet counted absentee or early votes at that time, around 1 a.m., Dudrick thought the results are likely to be skewed toward Trump.

“Those [votes] that have yet to come in are probably going to look prett y different from the votes that have a lready come in,” Dudrick said.

Dudrick, a native of New York, a lso said she was a little disappointed by the Senate races, but she was happy to see A rizona leaning to Biden.

Both Dudrick and Mor ys agreed that there has been no clear w inner as of early Wednesday morning, and it w ill likely ta ke days until the results are in.

“We’re not going to k now tonight, and that’s okay,” Dudrick said. “It’s probably for the best. I think in a true democracy, it’s important that ever y single person’s vote is counted. I’m more than happy to wait a few days to ma ke sure that ever y single person gets the change to have their voice heard.”

Indiana Gov. Holcomb, Republicans keep legislative control with big wins in state races

Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb was elected for a second term by a hefty margin as the Republican party swept the state to retain supermajority control of the state Senate and House of Representatives.

Indiana, home to Vice President Mike Pence, was also one of the first states to go to President Donald Trump on election night, gaining him 11 electoral college votes.

Holcomb won his reelection campaign defeating Democratic nominee Woodrow Myers

and Libertarian Donald Rainwater. Holcomb first became the Republican nominee for governor in 2016 when former governor Mike Pence ran as Donald Trump’s vice president. The Associated Press called the gubernatorial race around 7 p.m. Tuesday night with 12 percent of the vote reported.

Holcomb ran his reelection campaign on the promise to usher in a new era of record job commitments, record infrastructure investments and new career training opportunities. Holcomb succeeded to hold onto his supporters as the leader of the state’s coronavirus response despite

some pushback on ongoing mask mandates.

“Around here in Indiana… we don’t just dream big things. We do big things and we aspire to be a positive inf luence all along the way,” Holcomb said at a watch party with Republican supporters Tuesday night.

Myers conceded to Holcomb and called him to congratulate the governor about an hour after the election was called. Myers thanked Hoosiers who supported him in a tweet shortly after.

Sophomore Claire Kloska, a native of South Bend, said she was not “too surprised”

Holcomb came out ahead.

“Just because Indiana has had a Republican governor for the past 15 years and the general population tends to vote red, making it probably the most likely outcome,” Kloska said.

Shelby Riehle, a sophomore from LaPorte, said she also was not surprised. Despite the disputes and concerns over the pandemic, Riehle said she thought conversations over the health crisis were productive.

“I feel like both candidates addressed the virus considerably in their platforms,” Riehle said. “I am pleased and think [Holcomb] will

continue to be a strong leader for our state.”

In the general assembly, the GOP appeared as of late Tuesday night, to keep its lock on legislative control to hold onto its two-thirds majority in the House and the Senate.

Though the Democratic party heavily focused its efforts on the contested attorney general seat, Republican candidate former Indiana Congressman Todd Rokita won with 60 percent of the vote against Democratic candidate former Evansville Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel.

Election Night 2020: Minute-by-minute at ND and SMC 7 p.m. — President Donald Trump wins Kentucky, and Democrat Joe Biden wins Vermont, the Associated Press reports.

7:10 p.m. — Flaherty Hall: As the first polls begin to close, the energy in Flaherty Hall is almost like any other night. Watch parties have not yet begun, and students shuffle out the doors to get dinner in a steady stream.

7:15 p.m. — Duncan Student Center: CNN announces first race call with Trump winning Indiana with 64.5% of votes against Biden’s 32.8%. Some 30 students observe election coverage in the Duncan Student Center main level, with around 15 students watching from the tables in Midfield Commons.

Students characterized this year’s election as “stressful” due to the uncertainty regarding the time in which results will be announced due to a uncharacteristically large number of mail-in ballots.

“I think it’s going to be a really long and interesting night,” junior Megan Lulley said.

Junior Ella Sanger said she expects the country will find out the results in a couple of days, making for a tense election.

“It’s definitely an emotional election for us,” Sanger said.

7:30 p.m. — Trump takes five electoral votes in West Virginia.

7:36 p.m. — Biden wins Virginia and gains 13 electoral votes.

8 p.m — Trump takes Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Tennessee, and Biden wins Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Rhode Island.

8:05 p.m. — Le Mans Hall: Saint Mary’s sophomore Sam Swanson was not surprised when Biden took her home state Illinois. “I didn’t expect the results to be any different. I knew my vote would go for the Democrats because we’re such a blue state.”

8:09 p.m. — LaFortune Student Center: LaFortune is uncharacteristically empty as results start to roll in. Students quietly work away on their computers in the main lounge, looking up toward the TVs occasionally and whispering with one another.

Senior Courtney Sauder walks into the building to get food from the Huddle and looks at the results while she takes a break from homework. A group of first-years approach the TV by Smashburger, hands full of snacks, to watch and comment on CNN’s coverage of the election.

8:30 p.m. — Trump wins Arkansas, gaining six electoral votes.

8:30 p.m. — Duncan Student Center: Students remain entrenched in homework, mostly unfazed by the election updates. Some students can be seen regularly switching between detailed essays and election updates. Democrats of Notre Dame speak optimistically on NDTV, anticipating to see more blue on

the election day map as the night progresses.

8:54 p.m. — Trump wins Indiana, gaining 11 electoral votes.

9 p.m. — Debartolo Hall Room 102: Around 40 people are gather for the ND College Republicans election watch, as three big screens are tuned into Fox News.

“I’m happy,” sophomore Jason Maxwell said of the results in his home state of Oklahoma. But he’s not surprised, he adds — “it’s always red.”

As people trickle in, sophomore Adam Morys, president of the College Republicans, walks around to make sure people are social distancing and to ask attendees to sign a thank-you card for the custodian who is staying in the building.

First-year Joseph Kiely enters the room wearing a blue blazer with white stars, red pants and a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat.

He says he bought the outfit for the first presidential debate, which was canceled on campus. But he got to wear it for Halloween and tonight. A handful of others wear red MAGA hats or masks with the U.S. flag printed on them.

9:01 p.m. — Trump wins Louisiana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming and Nebraska, and Biden takes New Mexico and New York.

9:04 p.m. — Duncan Student Center: The atmosphere grows a little louder in the Midfield Commons as some more students begin to trickle in.

Students multitask between doing homework and checking election updates, switching between the essays on their computer and NDTV’s updates on the big screen.

9:25 p.m. — LaFortune Student Center: Sophomore Oscar Noem, watching results come in on NBC, admits some nervousness about the election.

“I’m kind of anxious, to be honest.

It’s a lot closer than I thought it would be,” he says. “It feels almost like watching a thriller.” Noem, who grew up in South Bend, says he voted in person a few days ago. “I doubt that they’re going to reach a full decision tonight,” he says, but he’s nonetheless keeping an eye on the news as results trickle in.

9:28 p.m. — Biden wins the District of Columbia, gaining three electoral votes.

9:28 p.m. — Duncan Student Center: The College Democrats’ watch party in the Dahnke Ballroom is crowded, with many students gathering to show support for their party.

Their excitement could be heard down the hall. Sophomore Riya Shah said that she has enjoyed the night so far, and that there is a “good energy” in the ballroom.

“Definitely tense, stressed,” Shah said about the important election. “But it’s just nice to share that with other people and not

keep it bubbled up.”

“Being together is really important in fostering that sense of connection during these difficult times,” sophomore Grace Franco added.

“I’m going to stay optimistic,” Shah said when asked about how she thinks the election will shake out. “I think we’re looking okay, especially if the Mock Election is any indication.”

Franco voiced similar sentiments. “I think I’m definitely cautiously hopeful,” she said.

9:33 p.m. — LaFortune Student Center: Passing through LaFortune, J.C. Wackowski pauses to check the status of the election on the television in the main lounge. “No matter what happens when we get out of this, it’s going to be an interesting road ahead,” he comments.

For Wackowski, a sophomore from California, “uncertainty” sums up his feelings about this year’s election. He says that in general, he has found open minds on Notre Dame’s campus. “I’m just thankful I’m an American,” he says as he adjusts an American flag face mask.

9:37 p.m. — Biden wins Colorado, gaining nine electoral votes.

9:42 p.m. — Debartolo Hall Room 102: At the College Republicans election watch, firstyear Abraham Figueroa asks for a picture with Joseph Kiely, who is still sporting his U.S. flag ensemble.

Figueroa says he believes Biden will win the popular vote. But Trump “is still gonna win the electoral college, by a small margin.” Perhaps a smaller margin than in 2016, he adds. Kiely is feeling “a little bit apprehensive,” he says. “I cannot call [the election results] either way.”

9:45 p.m. — Duncan Student Center: NDTV ends their broadcast. Election coverage has yet to be shown on the big screen in the Midfield Commons following their show.

9:56 p.m. — Pasquerilla West Hall: The vator lounges are empty, and instead, some Purple Weasels have turned to decorating their doors for Christmas, trying to ease the rising tensions with holiday cheer instead. The first floor has become an election free zone, and a couple of students turn to Louie, the resident mini golden doodle, for comfort.

10 p.m. — Trump wins Kansas, gaining six electoral votes.

10 p.m. — Holy Cross Hall: Saint Mary’s sophomore

They are illuminated by the glow of their computers as they type away at their assignments and simultaneously glance at the news. A student paces back and forth before the television for several minutes and then proceeds to sit down.

10:13 p.m. — Johnson Family Hall: First-year students gather in a common room to watch as the numbers come in while they do homework and chat.

“I’m frustrated with the results of Florida,” freshman Erin Pfeifer says. “I remember in 2016, my dad and I were really analyzing Florida because we wanted it to go blue.

We were just trying to do the math of how Clinton could win Florida, but as more results came in we realized it wasn’t possible.”

10:33 p.m. — Trump wins Missouri, gaining 10 electoral votes.

“That’s the decision of the American people.”

1:02 a.m. — Biden wins Minnesota, gaining 10 electoral votes.

1:03 a.m. — Duncan Student Center: Only a few small groups lingered around TV screens to wait for results.

1:05 a.m. — Trump wins Texas, gaining 38 electoral votes.

10:55 p.m. — LaFortune Student Center: Connor

Patrick, a sophomore in Dillon Hall, watches the election updates. “It’s a lot closer right now than I thought it would be,” he says. “I understand it’s still early, especially because so many votes have not been counted yet with the unique nature of this election during a global pandemic. But, nevertheless, it was much closer than I thought it would be.”

10:57 p.m. — Biden wins New Hampshire, gaining four electoral votes.

Junior Alesis Juntunen said she thinks a candidate will claim victory at some point Wednesday.

“I think [the election] is pretty well mirroring the election of 2016, but honestly I’m not super surprised by anything that’s happened so far,” Junteunen said.

In contrast, junior David Fleming said, “I’m surprised by how well Trump is doing.”

11 p.m. Coleman Morse — In Coleman Morse’s main lounge, PrismND and the Diversity Council held a space free of any election news and talk until 11 p.m., as the building closed.

Essential oils, canvas painting, and hot cocoa were the main distractions, alongside friendly chatter and a large screen showing a video of fish and turtles swimming underwater. Around 60 to 70 people showed up throughout the night, according to junior Matthew Bisner, vice president of PrismND. 11:01 p.m.

— Biden wins California, Oregon and Washington State, and Trump wins Idaho.

11:10 p.m. — LaFortune Student Center: NBC plays on both ends of LaFortune Student center main lounge, with very few students in between. Roughly 30 seats are vacant, while six students work on their laptops.

12 a.m. — Le Mans Hall:

Sarah Staniforth watched the results from her room. After seeing results stall in her home state of Michigan, she said, “I’m hopeful that there will be more mail-in ballots brought in over the next several hours. I was disappointed that Trump won Michigan in 2016 and I am hopeful for Biden’s chances this election.”

Sam Swanson turns off the election coverage in her room, hopeful that she will find out more later in the day once more votes have been counted. “I think it’s just important to remember that not all the votes have come in and that it could take longer than expected to hear complete results.”

12:08 a.m. — Biden wins Hawaii and Trump wins Ohio, Montana and Iowa.

1:40 a.m. — Annunciata Hall: Saint Mary’s junior Abigail Pinnow contemplates the results of the election, citing her anxiety.

“It’s a pretty stressful situation. I’ve been checking election results at least once every hour even though I know that there won’t be final counts tonight.”

Pinnow is grateful to have participated in the election this year, but wishes that the process represented a more diverse ranges of voices.

“I’ve voted in every election since I turned 18 and this is my first presidential election,” Pinnow said. “I’m very thankful I was able to vote this year. I voted absentee by mail early last month. I was fully prepared to drive 12 hours home if I didn’t receive my absentee ballot in time. I do wish, however, that the electoral system was better set up to represent all voices, not just the voices of the already powerful and privileged.”

2:20 a.m. — Trump delivers a statement from the East Room of the White House, prematurely declaring victory. Several states have not yet been called, and Trump says he will go to the Supreme Court to stop counting ballots.

“We want all voting to stop,” Trump says to a cheering crowd.

“We don’t want them to find any ballots at four o’clock in the morning, and add them to the list. This is a very sad moment, to me this is a very sad moment, and we will win this. As far as I’m concerned, we already have.”

Election Night 2020: Results from around the nation Editor’s Note: All election results reported here are from the Associated Press. Results are recent as of 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Alabama Republican Tommy Tuberville won the Senate seat in Alabama, ousting Democratic incumbent Senator Doug Jones. Of the seven House seats, six went to the Republicans and one to the Democrats.

Alaska As of 3 a.m. Wednesday, Alaska had not called a winner in its Senate or House races. With 37% reporting, Republican incumbent Sen. Dan Sullivan led with 61.7% of the vote against Democrat Al Gross. The one House race had not been called at that time.

Florida Republican Carlos Gimenz won Florida’s 26th Congressional District, defeating incumbent Democrat Debbie MucarselPowell. Out of the state’s 27 House seats, 11 went to Democrats and 16 to Republicans. Republicans flipped two seats from 2018.

Georgia Raphael Warnock and Kelly Loeffler advanced to a runoff for the Senate special election in Georgia. As of 3 a.m., 13 out of 14 House races had been called — the Republicans took eight, Democrats took five and one still not called.

3 a.m., though Collins led Gideon by eight points.

Hampshire’s House seats.

New Jersey Maryland Of the eight House seats, the Democrats took seven and Republicans took one.

Massachusetts Democratic incumbent Sen. Democrat Edward J. Markey won his reelection in Massachusetts.

Democrat Sen. Cory Booker was reelected, beating his challenger Republican Rikin Mehta by a large margin. Out of the 12 House races, 10 were won

by Democrats, one was won by Republicans and one had not yet been called as of 3 a.m.

New Mexico Democrat Ben Ray Lujan wins the Senate seat in New Mexico.

Out of the state’s three House seats, the Democrats took two and the Republicans flipped one.

As of 3 a.m., Hawaii had not reported results for its two House races.

Michigan had not yet called any of its 14 House races as of 3 a.m. The Senate race between incumbent Democrat Sen. Gary Peters and Republican challenger John James had also not been called as of 3 a.m. James led Peters with 53.3% of the vote.

Seven out of nine House seats had been called as of 3 a.m.

The Democrats took four and Republicans took three, with two districts still pending.

Democrat Mark Kelly defeated incumbent Republican Sen. Martha McSally in a special election, flipping the seat to the Democrats. McSally was appointed to the late Sen. John McCain’s seat in 2018 after losing to Democrat Sen. Kyrsten Sinema.

Republican Sen. Jim Risch won reelection in Idaho. The two Idaho House seats both went to Republicans.

Democrat Tina Smith won reelection to the Senate, defeating Republican Jason Lewis. Six out of Minnesota’s eight House races had been called as of 3 a.m. — an even split of three Democratic wins and three Republican wins, with the Republicans flipping one seat.

Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper won reelection in North Carolina, defeating Republican challenger Dan Forest. The Democrats flipped two House seats and took five, while the Republicans won the remaining eight. As of 3 a.m., the closely-watched Senate race between Republican Rep. Thom Tillis and Democrat Cal Cunningham had still not been called. Tillis led by 1.8%, with 93% reporting.

Hawaii

Illinois Richard J. Durbin, Democratic incumbent, kept his Senate seat. As of 3 a.m., 14 of 18 of the House races had been called.

The Democrats took nine seats, Republicans took five and four races were still undeclared.

Indiana Arkansas Republican Sen. Tom Cotton won his reelection in Arkansas.

The four House seats all went to Republican candidates.

Incumbent Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb was reelected.

Eight out of Indiana’s nine House seats had been called as of 3 a.m., with six going to the Republicans and two seats to the Democrats.

California As of 3 a.m., 39 of the 53 California House races had been called, with all 39 declared seats going to Democrats.

Colorado Democrat and former Colorado governor John Hickenlooper won the Senate seat, defeating incumbent Sen. Cory Gardner.

Hickenlooper was the first Democrat to flip a Senate seat Tuesday. Six out of the seven House seats had been called as of 3 a.m., with the Democrats taking four, the Republicans taking two and one still pending.

Connecticut Two of the five House seats for Connecticut had been called for the Democrats as of 3 a.m. with three races still pending.

Delaware Democratic incumbent Christopher Coons kept his Senate seat.

Additionally, Democrat Sarah McBride won her state Senate race, making her the first transgender person to be elected to state Senate. Democrat John Carney was reelected as governor, defeating Republican opponent Julianne Murray. The Democrats claimed the one Delaware House seat.

Iowa Republican Joni Ernst kept her Iowa Senate seat over Democrat Theresa Greenfield. Only one of Iowa’s four House races had been called as of 3 a.m. for the Republicans.

Mississippi Republican incumbent Cindy Hyde Smith won her Senate reelection campaign, beating Democrat Mike Espy by a large margin. Republicans took three out of the four House races in the state.

Republican Mike Parson defeated Democratic state auditor, Nicole Galloway for the run for governor. Republicans won three House races, while Democrats won two House seats.

Montana

Republican Roger Marshall wins the Senate seat in Kansas.

The four House seats up for election all went to Republicans.

Kentucky

Nebraska

Senate Majority leader, Republican Mitch McConnell, wins reelection. Republicans took all six of the state’s House seats.

Republican Sen. Ben Sasse won reelection in Nebraska, against Democrat challenger Chris Janicek. All three House seats went to the Republicans.

Louisiana

Nevada

Republican incumbent Sen. Bill Cassidy won his reelection in Louisiana. Out of the six House seats, four went to Republicans, one to the Democrats and one will go to a runoff election.

As of 3 a.m., two out of Nevada’s four House races had been called.

The Republicans and Democrats each took one seat, with two races still not called.

New Hampshire Maine One of Maine’s two House seats went to the Democrats, while the other had not been called as of 3 a.m. The Senate race between incumbent Republican Sen. Susan Collins and Democrat Sara Gideon had not been called as of

New York Only 15 of New York’s 27 House races had been called as of 3 a.m., with the Democrats taking 13 and the Republicans taking two.

North Dakota Republican Gov. Doug Burgum won reelection in North Dakota.

The state’s one House seat stayed Republican.

Democrat Jeanne Shaheen won her race over Republican Corky Messner, maintaining her seat in the Senate. Republican incumbent Gov. Chris Sununu won reelection, defeating Democratic opponent Dan Feltes. The Democrats took both of New

South Dakota Republican Mike Rounds retained his Senate seat in South Dakota. The one House seat went to the Republicans.

Tennessee Republican Bill Hagerty won his race, succeeding Republican Lamar Alexander in the Senate.

Of the nine House seats, two went to the Democrats and seven to the Republicans.

Texas Republican Sen. John Coryn won reelection to the Senate in Texas. He defeated Democrat challenger M.J. Hegar in a close race. Only one House race had yet to be called as of 3 a.m. Of the 36 seats, Republicans took 22 and the Democrats took 13, with one race still not called.

Utah Utah Lieutenant Governor, Republican Spencer Cox, won the Governor’s race in Utah by a large margin. Republicans also won three out of the four Utah Houseseats, with one race still not called as of 3 a.m.

Vermont Republican Gov. Phil Scott won his reelection, and Democrats won the one House seat.

Virginia

Republicans took 12 of Ohio’s 16 House seats, with the Democrats taking the remaining four.

Virginia’s incumbent senator, Democrat Mark Warner, kept his seat in the Senate. Out of Virginia’s 11 House seats, Republicans and Democrats each took four seats, with three races still yet to be called as of 3 a.m.

Oklahoma

Washington

Republican Jim Inhofe kept his Senate seat in Oklahoma.

Republicans took all five of the state’s House seats, flipping one.

Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee won reelection in Washington State. Out of Washington State’s 10 seats, Democrats took five, Republicans took one and four races were still not called as of 3 a.m.

Missouri

Republican Greg Gianforte was elected governor over Democrat Mike Cooney. Republican Sen. Steve Daines won reelection to the Senate. He defeated Democrat Steve Bullock. Republicans took the one House seat.

Kansas

Ohio

Oregon Democrat Sen. Jeff Merkley wins reelection in Oregon. Out of Oregon’s five electoral districts, four went to Democrats and one to a Republican.

Pennsylvania Only 11 of Pennsylvania’s 18 House races had been called as of 3 a.m. Republicans won six seats and the Democrats took five, with seven races still not called.

Rhode Island Democratic incumbent Jack Reed kept his Senate seat in Rhode Island. The state’s two House seats went to the Democrats.

South Carolina Republican incumbent and Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee Lindsey Graham retained his Senate seat. The Republicans took six out of the

West Virginia Republican Gov. Jim Justice won reelection in West Virginia.

Republican incumbent Sen. Shelley Moore Capito retained her seat in the Senate early in the night. All three House seats went to Republicans.

Wisconsin As of 3 a.m., seven of the eight House races had been called in Wisconsin. The Republicans took five, the Democrats took two and one race had not been called.

Wyoming Republican Cynthia Lummis wins the Senate seat in Wyoming, becoming the state’s first female U.S. Senator. Lummis will replace retiring Sen. Mike Enzi.

Wyoming’s one House seat stayed Republican.
