Celebrating the 10th edition of the EIC Newspaper is a milestone I am incredibly proud of. What began as a new challenge has grown into one of the most rewarding projects I have had the pleasure of working on. Every edition is created with great care, from planning and content management to writing, editing and design, bringing together stories and updates from colleagues across the EIC. The greatest reward is seeing people reading the newspaper at events around the world, knowing it helps showcase our organisation and the incredible work we do. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the first 10 editions. Here is to many more!

Latest EIC Market Intelligence Updates EICSupplyMap The New Sunburst Map

EICAssetMap Expanding Global Data

We are introducing a new feature for our members: the sunburst map. Those who have attended some of our events may have seen this feature being used within presentations displayed by the EICSupplyMap team. This feature has been requested to be extended over to our members and as of July 2026 this has been active within EICSupplyMap. This tool aims to help visualise within a few seconds what are the main strengths, weaknesses and gaps within the supply chain not just for the UK but for all countries mapped within EICSupplyMap. You can find this within the “toolbar” of the EICSupplyMap landing page.

As mentioned in previous editions, we have recently added Platforms, Vessels and Interconnectors globally as reports within EICAssetMap. This has involved a lot of hard work from our global team, and we are continuing to expand the information available. The growth continues as well!

Not only are we looking to keep these reports updated for users, but we are also looking to build more information into EICAssetMap to match what we have in EICDataStream. To share your feedback or request any further additions to the database, please reach out at thomas.bacon@the-eic.com.

R EG I O N A L U P DAT E S Asia Pacific News Recent months have demonstrated the strength of the Asia Pacific energy sector, with EIC supporting key industry events across Malaysia, the Philippines and Sarawak. It was a privilege to engage with industry leaders, government representatives and our members while discussing emerging energy opportunities across the region.

I look forward to building on these relationships and continuing to strengthen collaboration throughout the Asia Pacific energy community.

EIC Connect Italy 2026 was a sold-out event that brought together more than 100 policymakers, operators, technology providers, investors and supply chain experts in Milan to explore the opportunities shaping Italy’s evolving energy landscape. Delegates travelled from across Europe, extending the event’s reach beyond Italy.

The event began with an exclusive networking reception at The Roof Milano, giving delegates the opportunity to connect ahead of the conference.

UK News The Energy Exports Conference 2026 once again brings the global energy industry together in Aberdeen, with discussions focused on energy security, hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, offshore wind, nuclear and international opportunities. As we head into a busy autumn programme, I encourage members to stay engaged with EIC events and activities, making the most of the market intelligence, networking and business development opportunities available across our global network.

Senior speakers from organisations including Saipem, Baker Hughes, Rolls-Royce, Wood, OPITO, Yokogawa and Bonatti shared their perspectives on the opportunities and challenges facing the sector.

A key theme throughout the programme was the importance of collaboration between industry, government, investors and the wider supply chain.

The event received excellent feedback, with delegates praising the high-quality programme, engaging discussions and exceptionally valuable networking opportunities.

EIC Launches Europe Hydrogen Insight Report The EIC is delighted to launch its latest EIC Insight Report: Europe Hydrogen, offering an in-depth look at the trends, opportunities and challenges shaping the development of Europe’s hydrogen market.

Europe has set ambitious targets for 2030, yet project delivery remains slow. Hundreds of hydrogen projects have been announced, with green hydrogen dominating the pipeline, but many remain at feasibility stage as high production costs, weak offtake demand, regulatory uncertainty and infrastructure delays continue to affect progress and investment decisions.

The report highlights the critical role of infrastructure, with major pipeline networks and corridors planned across Germany, Spain, the UK and Scandinavia to connect production centres with industrial demand and support the development of a European hydrogen economy.

Germany stands out as one of Europe’s most advanced and ambitious hydrogen markets, targeting 10GW of electrolyser capacity by 2030 and developing a 9,000km Hydrogen Core Network.

South America News Following the success of EIC Connect Energy Brazil 2026, South America continues to build momentum with a strong programme of events promoting business development, innovation and collaboration across the energy sector. Rio Samba and Gas and the Energy Procurement Summit will bring together industry leaders to explore opportunities across established and emerging markets, while building on the success of the first EIC Forum Naval Edition.

The report also examines Europe’s electrolyser manufacturing capabilities, currently estimated at 8.49GW per year. Despite this strong manufacturing base, limited project FIDs and weaker near-term demand signals demonstrate the challenges facing the sector as Europe works to turn its ambitious hydrogen targets into commercially viable projects.

With more than 700 projects tracked in the EICDataStream, it can be seen that policy and regulatory developments are becoming increasingly influential in shaping global data centre growth.

Markets such as Ireland, Singapore, and the Netherlands have introduced measures addressing energy capacity and sustainable development, while countries including Saudi Arabia and the UAE continue to accelerate investment through AI and digital infrastructure strategies. These evolving frameworks highlight how governments are increasingly shaping where and how future hyperscale facilities are developed.

EICDataStream is tracking a surge in data centre development across the Americas, with the United States dominating activity. Google is advancing three campuses in Virginia, namely Project Loch, Skye, and Peanut, as part of a wider US$9 billion investment in the state. Meanwhile, in the United States, local opposition has spurred a wave of moratoriums across the country, like in Pasco, Washington, and Morgan County, Alabama, having implemented six-month pauses, while New York became the first US state to impose a moratorium on new large-scale facilities of 50MW or more. Operators are challenging these restrictions, reflecting growing tensions between industry expansion and local concerns over data centre developments.

With the top operators being added to the database EICSupplyMap now boasts over 11,300 companies across our 16 mapped markets.

Over the next year as a team, we are aiming to refine this information, enhance it and have EICSupplyMap a one-stop shop for supply chain companies and operators. This aims to include general contacts for top operators and Tier 1 supply chain companies. To top this up, our top 20 market campaign will be due to come to a close in April next year with additions such as India and Canada joining the list of top global supply chain countries added to our database.

E:GO Brings Conversational Artificial Intelligence to EICDataStream EIC is set to launch the first version of EGO at the end of September.

The new AI-powered search capability for EICDataStream will allow members to explore energy project intelligence using natural language. Users will be able to ask questions, refine results through conversation and perform analytical queries without building complex searches. Combining project data, document search and EIC knowledge resources, EGO marks a significant step in EIC’s wider programme to modernise access to industry intelligence.

calendar includes the Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Oman Roundtables, GCC, Africa, Mozambique and CIS Project & Market Update webinars, culminating in UAE Connect 2026, EIC’s flagship regional conference bringing together industry leaders to explore project opportunities, market trends and emerging technologies.

Exploring Opportunities with Hanwha Ocean

We were delighted to host the EIC Breakfast in Houston – Opportunities with Hanwha Ocean on 15 April 2026, bringing together EIC members and key players from across the

energy sector for a morning of insights, discussion, and valuable networking. The session began with a scene-setter presentation relaying a key message: North & Central America’s energy pipeline is entering a decisive execution phase and Hanwha Group is

bridging the gaps between US policy requirements, supply chain constraints and global execution capability. We thank Weverton Nazario, Head of Operations & Maintenance, for joining this session.

Europe’s Autumn Events Programme

Following the successful launch of EIC Connect Italy in Milan, the EIC’s European events programme continues this autumn with the inaugural WESCA Milan on 8 October, celebrating excellence across the energy supply chain.

This will be followed by the EIC Infrastructure Breakfast at Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe in Hamburg on 20 October, bringing together industry leaders to discuss the future of hydrogen infrastructure, before concluding with EIC Connect Germany in Berlin on 1 December, where senior energy stakeholders will explore the latest opportunities and developments in Germany’s energy market.

UK Summer Party and Celebrating Our Team The EIC’s UK team came together for a summer celebration, recognising the people who make our organisation such a great place to work. Alongside pottery painting and plenty of opportunities to catch up with colleagues, the event celebrated long service milestones for Harriet Fray (15 years), Alan Young (10 years) and Alice Hill (5 years). Congratulations to all three on reaching these impressive milestones and for the dedication and expertise they have brought to EIC throughout their careers.

GMM10 Brings EIC’s Global Team Together In June, the EIC brought together about 25 participants from around the world in Rio de Janeiro for the 10th edition of its Global Membership Meeting (GMM 10). During the event, the organisation discussed strengthening team culture, aligning priorities, and sharing progress and challenges. Leaders explored how to work smarter amidst rapid technological shifts, such as artificial intelligence, and projected scenarios for where and how the company could be in 10 years, reaffirming its core commitment to always put members first.

Exploring Brazil’s FPSO Future

The latest Breakfast in Rio brought together industry leaders for a morning of insights into the future of FPSO opportunities in Brazil. On 7 July, EIC Rio welcomed Guilherme Duarte, representing Seatrium, and Antonio Souza, representing MISC, for a discussion on the evolving energy landscape and the opportunities shaping the country’s offshore sector. The speakers shared their perspectives on market developments, Brazil’s offshore potential and the role of FPSOs in supporting the next chapter of the energy industry.

NEXT EVENTS

The upcoming Gemini Staff Training will introduce colleagues to Google’s AI assistant and its practical applications in everyday work. The training videos will cover effective prompting techniques, responsible use of AI, and examples of how Gemini can support productivity across different teams. The training is designed for all staff, regardless of previous experience, and aligns with EIC’s AI Policy to encourage the safe and effective use of AI tools.

Key Findings from the Staff Happiness Survey The latest Happiness Survey highlighted continued strengths in teamwork, workplace culture, and work-life balance across the organisation. The results also identified opportunities to further strengthen career development, communication, and cross-team collaboration. We are currently working with line managers to review the findings and develop targeted action plans that address the key themes raised by colleagues. These initiatives will help ensure our improvement efforts are focused on the areas that matter most to our people. Further updates on the actions and next steps will be shared in due course.
