Record number of speakers marked the latest Breakfast in Rio edition!
On 21 May, EIC Rio welcomed industry leaders for a morning of discussions focused on offshore and subsea opportunities in Brazil’s oil & gas sector. The event opened with remarks from the IADC Brazil Chapter, followed by presentations from EIC analysts, Foresea, NOV and DOF, and a case study presented by the event’s Gold Sponsor, Gavea Group.
EIC APAC Business Lounge at IPA Convex
EIC APAC Business Lounge at IPA Convex 2026 - For the first time, EIC organised its own EIC APAC Business Lounge at the Indonesian Petroleum Association Convention and Exhibition (IPA Convex), held from 20 to 22 May 2026 at ICE BSD City, Indonesia. The event brought together members and industry peers for networking and discussions on energy sector opportunities, featuring exhibitors Alypz Sdn Bhd, China Shipping Marine Equipment (Jiangsu) Co. Ltd, and i.safe-Mobile.
EIC’s Middle East Events Programme
Despite regional geopolitical uncertainty, EIC’s Middle East events programme remained firmly on track through April, May and June, drawing strong engagement from members and industry stakeholders. Virtual roundtables across the UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Qatar were complemented by
webinars on GCC and African market opportunities, contracting strategies and the impact of uncertainty on the energy supply chain. EIC also hosted successful in-person events in Abu Dhabi, Muscat and Dammam, enabling companies to reconnect, share market intelligence and explore the challenges and opportunities shaping the region’s energy sector.
The North & Central America region hosted the webinar “Navigating US Energy Policy and Market Dynamics” welcoming EIC’s very own Neil Golding, Director of Market Intelligence, Rebecca Groundwater, Global Head of External Affairs and Travis Phoenix, Vice President Compression sales for a discussion focusing on the factors contributing and shaping the energy sector in the United States and beyond. The session also highlighted impacts driven by supply chain volatility and behaviours impacted by COVID, geopolitics and Net-Zero initiatives.
EIC Connect Italy 2026
EIC Connect Italy 2026 took place on 9 June in Milan, bringing together senior leaders from across the energy sector to discuss power, renewables, industrial decarbonisation, oil and gas, nuclear and digital infrastructure. Looking ahead, preparations continued for the EIC Industry Breakfast events in Hamburg, with September’s session focusing on wind energy, transmission and distribution, and grid infrastructure, followed by hydrogen infrastructure, storage and energy transition challenges in October.

Mariana Messere Selected for the Future Energy Leaders
The EIC congratulated Mariana Messere, O&G and Biofuels Analyst for the Americas, based in the Rio office, on being selected for the Future Energy Leaders cohort for the World Energy Congress 2027. The EIC supported the Scottish Energy Pledge, led by Scottish Renewables, joining organisations from across Scotland’s energy, business, finance, ports, skills and supply chain communities. The pledge called for a coherent energy strategy supporting domestic production, advanced manufacturing, regional regeneration and energy security. With aviation responsible for around 2–3% of global CO₂ emissions, governments worldwide are accelerating SAF mandates, funding mechanisms and production targets to support long-term decarbonisation.

Turkiye has declared 2026 as the “Year of Wind” and plans to fasttrack investment in the wind sector. The country plans to launch its first offshore wind Renewable Energy Resource Area (YEKA) tender this year once permitting processes are completed for sites off Saros Bay, Gökçeada, Bozcaada and Edremit. The country is targeting 5GW of offshore wind capacity by 2035, while the 2026 tender is expected to award a combined 1.5GW of onshore and offshore capacity. Turkiye remains an emerging offshore wind market, with one pipeline project totalling 1.2 GW recorded in EICDataStream.

As our EICDS keeps growing, we can see a noticeable shift in power strategies in global data center projects. Many initiatives that once depended on local grid connections are now adopting energy solutions like solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), wind, hydropower, nuclear energy, and gas-fired generation. This trend first appeared in parts of Europe and is now spreading quickly in APAC markets due to increasing worries about grid capacity, energy security, and sustainability.

The region entered July with a steadier outlook, though market and policy conditions remained fluid. Recent in-person events alongside Make it in the Emirates, Energy Markets in a Time of Uncertainty and OPES provided welcome opportunities to reconnect. Attention now turns to a busy final quarter, including rescheduled regional events, EEC in Aberdeen, the Survive & Thrive launch, WESCA and ADIPEC.
