Unlocking Opportunities in Sustainable Energy 17 March 2026 | Hilton London Bankside, UK

CEO Message

Welcome to 2026 and to the second year of the EIC Newspaper. I am really looking forward to another packed year of 160 events around the world, including Bankable Energies in March in London. 2026 is also the year we roll out the new EIC API (Application Programming Interface) allowing global members to link their business software directly with EICDataStream. We are always investing and putting ‘members first’ at EIC.

Stuart Broadley, EIC CEO

Rio25 History Chapter

EIC is 83 years old in 2026, and we are now excited to be publishing the EIC History Book through the year, starting with the Rio chapter, which celebrates the 25th anniversary of EIC first investing into Brazil, growing from a small start to now employing more than 50 staff in the country and committing to EIC’s Rio office as being one of two global research hubs that houses much of the market intelligence work we do, the other being in Kuala Lumpur. Further chapters are soon to be published for Houston’s 30th anniversary and EICDataStream’s 25th anniversary.

EIC US Offshore Wind Insight Report is out now!

Looking Back to 2025

EIC’s 2025 journey featured the Bankable Energies event in February, bringing fresh insight into project viability and investment trends. April marked the launch of our rapidly growing EIC podcast platform. June delivered a strong Energy Exports Conference, followed by a series of report launches in July. The year closed with global regional WESCAs award ceremonies highlighting growth, collaboration and successes across the energy supply chain.

Looking Ahead to 2026

The US offshore wind pipeline has shrunk from 45 to 23 projects, with capacity dropping to 25.4GW, according to EIC’s latest insight report. Developers face expiring OBBBA tax credits, tighter domestic content rules, a federal leasing freeze and new tariffs on EU and UK goods, all increasing project costs. Several states have paused tenders, and port funding cuts are slowing infrastructure upgrades. While projects like Empire and Revolution are restarting, many remain on hold, with investment shifting abroad. California is a rare bright spot, progressing port plans and the CADEMO floating project. EIC encourages readers to explore the full report for deeper insight.

EIC Data Centre Launch

As data centres and AI drive unprecedented demand for reliable, sustainable power, the worlds of energy and digital innovation are converging like never before. The EIC is uniquely positioned to bring these sectors together, connecting energy innovators, infrastructure experts, and digital developers, to ensure our data economy is resilient, efficient, and prepared for the significant increase in electricity demand expected over the next decade. Consequently, we are now adding data centre projects and assets to EIC market intelligence databases, and we will be running events around this important new market in 2026.

We are excited to launch a series of new member products, services, features and benefits in 2026. Global members can now connect their software with EICDataStream with a new EIC API (Application Programming Interface). EIC is soon to launch its AI Search tool inside EICDataStream too. Our market intelligence team has expanded to provide data centre content on all our platforms during the year, and we are excited to be rapidly expanding our contacts database too, covering the world’s top 1,000 operators, EPCs and large OEMs.

EIC MARKET INTELLIGENCE NEWS

MI Updates EICSupplyMap News

We have welcomed to the team our new Data Centre Analyst, Nurul Fatimah Az-Zaharah Mohd Aris. Following the feedback received from members it became clear that the sector offers numerous opportunities for the supply chain. What is becoming apparent already is the huge amount of energy required to power these projects, and all forms of power generation will be needed including renewable, gas, diesel and nuclear. Currently we are only tracking Data Centres in EICDataStream, but in the future we will add operational assets to EICAssetMap, and map supply chain capabilities in EICSupplyMap.

EICDataStream News

Egypt is seeing increased offshore exploration activities to boost natural gas production. The country’s exploration activities are generally focused within mature onshore basins, but I have noticed increasing offshore exploration deals especially in H2 2025. Multiple agreements were signed in early Q4 2025, including QatarEnergy for the North Rafah concession and ExxonMobil for a new concession in west of the Zohr field. Recently, four more blocks within the Red Sea are being tendered in a new bid round, with submissions due for May 2026.

EIC Consult News

The Consult team, in partnership with EIC Events Solutions, supported a major global energy training provider in boosting its profile in Europe through a tailored event for HSE professionals. EIC Consult mapped strategic contacts, curated the attendee list, and EIC Events Solutions organised the event. EIC Consult also delivered an in-depth presentation on the European energy landscape, covering O&G trends, renewable capacity, downstream developments, and key contractors across strategic EU markets to set the client’s strategy over the next 12 months.

Operators within EICSupplyMap?

Yes, this is becoming a reality. Under the umbrella of EICSupplyMap operators and their subsidiaries will be added with the addition of new relevant industry contacts. To make this a reality the team was recruited at the end of 2025 with work already on the way. We aim to have contact information for 1,000 operators and developers by the end of 2026. Keep your eyes peeled!

EICAssetMap News

Following member feedback, we are currently building knowledge on offshore assets and our team is actively gathering information on FPSOs to add into our ever-growing database. We also have hopes to build this out further and gather similar information on Offshore Platforms once we have good coverage of floating units. In parallel, we are also monitoring global decommissioning activities to ensure our members have access to the most up-to-date information possible.

As part of the global World Energy Supply Chain Awards (WESCAs), the ceremony celebrates excellence across the regional energy supply chain

Tribute, held at the prestigious Cherie Flores Garden Pavilion in Hermann Park Conservancy. The evening honoured not only EIC Houston’s legacy but the broader EIC community—our North & Central America partners, members, and stakeholders— whose commitment to collaboration continues to shape the industry’s regional and global progress. This year, nine outstanding companies were shortlisted across four award categories, with honours going to Sepakat Energy (Collaboration, People & Transformation), Emerging EPC (Technology & Sustainability), Cladtek (Innovation & Digital), and GoNetZero (Service & Solutions). With 150 attendees, the event provided a full-house celebration of innovation and industry leadership.
