CEO Message

The Energy Exports Conference returned to Aberdeen in June, welcoming over 1,500 energy professionals from 20 countries,

including Sarawak, Saudi Arabia, Côte d’Ivoire and Ukraine. Over two days, the event highlighted global project opportunities available to supply chain companies and explored major developments across the energy sector.

The Women of Energy Lunch initiative celebrates female leadership in the energy sector. It brings together women who are driving a change in the industry, promoting connections,

debate and diversity. It’s a welcoming space where professionals in the field can be inspired and inspire others, exchange experiences, expand networks, and highlight the role of women in changing the sector.

The inaugural Energy Exports Conference Gala Dinner recognised industry excellence with traditional Scottish fayre. We celebrated the winners of the EEC Awards, with Blaze Manufacturing Solutions taking home the Excellence in International Trade award. Paul Mudd of TRS Staffing Solutions was awarded the Exporting Champion of 2025. Finally, the Innovation awards, supported by the Net Zero Technology Centre, went to HonuWorx and Resolute Energy Solutions.

We rounded off the week in style with informal networking at the first EEC Golf Day held at Newburgh-on-Ythan Golf Club. Ten teams joined us for 18 holes, with Modutec coming out on top. Throughout the course of the day, we partnered with Friends of ANCHOR, a local charity, and raised an incredible £1,854.

After 11 remarkable years with EIC, our APAC Regional Director, Azman Nasir, will be leaving at the end of July to begin an exciting new chapter as Deputy Chairman and CEO of a Malaysian oil and gas company. Azman’s leadership, vision, and friendship have left a lasting legacy. He leaves with our

gratitude and very best wishes. We thank him deeply and look forward to welcoming his successor soon.

We are excited to announce the growth of the EIC Trade Delegations Programme, supported by our trusted delivery partners, AIA and newly joined SABA. With 7-8 delegations planned for 2026 – including Chile, Angola, Nigeria, Egypt, Guyana, Spain & Portugal and Denmark & Norway, we are helping companies enter complex markets through curated meetings and data insights. Our latest delegation happened from 23rd to 27th June and saw 11 companies explore Guyana with us and AIA. Do not miss out and join us!

Welcome to the fourth EIC Newspaper, in which I am proud to launch the 2025 edition of the EIC Survive & Thrive Insight Report, now in its ninth year. The world’s largest energy supply chain research project, Survive & Thrive spotlights 140 case studies from 138 EIC members this year, detailing and promoting their inspiring success stories, and reflecting on why some growth strategies dominate and others are sidelined in today’s challenging markets. All 140 stories are also entered automatically into EIC’s World Energy Supply Chain Awards (WESCA) later in 2025, the world’s largest energy awards programme. There is no higher honour. Survive & Thrive is a highly recommended read, and I wish all award finalists the best of luck – as everyone wants to win a WESCA!

We are loving our new series of EIC podcasts, receiving brilliant feedback. If you want to feature in a future EIC podcast, reach out directly to stuart. broadley@the-eic.com

In response to member feedback over the past six months, I have focused on expanding our coverage of offshore platform and FPSO assets, particularly in the APAC region. This global initiative, supported by the EIC Rio research team, addresses long-standing member demand. Although the data is still being gathered and is not yet available on EICAssetMap, it will enhance platform insights

significantly. Southeast Asia is seeing increased FPSO redeployments, while Australia progresses with decommissioning plans, including the Northern Endeavour FPSO.

Spain’s supply chain market data is set to be launched later this year on EICSupplyMap, but preliminary data already shows that 61.9% of mapped Spanish suppliers have experience in the oil and gas sector, while 68.3% are active in the renewables sector — the latter having the highest share among all mapped markets, ahead of Germany (61.7%) and the UK (40.4%).

The supply chain is heavily concentrated in hubs in regions such as Madrid, Catalunya, and the Basque Country.

South Korea’s offshore wind sector is picking up, especially with the 750MW Firefly (Bandibuli) floating wind project. This year alone, we have seen contracts awarded to Ekwil for its INOC semi-submersible floating foundation technology, and LS Cable & System and LS Marine

Solutions signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Balmoral Comtec to support the project, combining their expertise in cables, installation, and marine systems. What is cool is that Firefly was the only floating wind project awarded in South Korea’s first offshore wind tender, standing out as the sole bid and showing that this project is on the right track. I thought this was a great update to highlight, and it is definitely one to watch!

Most recently, the EIC Consult team conducted a detailed presentation for Scottish Development International (SDI) on clean hydrogen opportunities in Chile, Oman, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia, highlighting potential avenues for Scottish supply chain engagement. The team has also explored subsea prospects in the MENA and East Mediterranean regions for HFI, conducted a competitor benchmarking study in Brazil for Gall Thomson, and assessed key UK ports with offshore wind capabilities for Costain, outlining infrastructure, expansion plans, project developments, and key supply chain stakeholders.

A completely new version of EICAssetMap has been developed this year, and we expect it to go live in the last half of August. Bob Gear, EIC’s Head of Information Systems, says, “The new EICAssetMap is the first stage in integrating CAPEX and OPEX tools, making EICDataStream a much more compelling product for all members” You can see a pre-release version here: http://eicassetmapcanary. the-eic.com
