Welcome to EIC Connect Italy 2026.
BY STUART BROADLEY
Italy’s energy industry is moving from ambition and planning into the hard stuff, which is building projects.
Solar generation reached a new record in 2025, renewables supplied a large share of electricity demand, battery storage is beginning to move through dedicated auctions, and data centre growth around Milan is adding a new layer of demand to the power system. At the same time, gas remains central to security of supply, carbon capture is moving into industrial deployment at Ravenna, and nuclear has returned to the policy debate.
Together, these initiatives make Italy one of Europe’s most interesting, and indeed promising, energy markets for the supply chain. And Italy has a lot to offer, of course. The country has an industrial economy with high energy demand, a Mediterranean route for energy transport into Europe, and a project landscape dominated by renewables, grids, oil and gas, industrial decarbonisation, storage, digital infrastructure and future lowcarbon power.
The opportunity is there for those who pay close attention. Project owners need suppliers that can deliver safely, competitively and on schedule. But the supply chain needs visibility on policy, regulation, grid access, procurement routes and conditions, local partners and a predictable pipeline of projects that move from design to construction at a steady rate.
The EIC is here to connect project intelligence with practical business development, helping our members and our wider network export, diversify and grow in markets where opportunity. Navigating these opportunities is never easy and this is where our events, data, market insights, networking gatherings become indispensable.
Our Connect events have been so beneficial because they stay grounded in real projects and honest discussions. Our Milan event is no different. Across the programme, you will hear from operators, developers, utilities, technology providers, contractors, government and trade bodies. They will examine Italy’s project outlook, its role in Europe’s energy transition, oil and gas, renewables, nuclear, data centres, industrial decarbonisation, power and storage, and carbon capture.
As always, make the most of our Connect events. Listen to panel discussions, visit exhibitors, take the one-to-one meetings and ask questions about timelines, permits, grid access, procurement models, local capability, risk allocation and partnerships.
The EIC is proud to bring EIC Connect Italy to Milan and to work with our members, partners and stakeholders across Italy, the UK and the wider European energy market.
Thank you for joining us. I hope you leave with better market insight, stronger contacts and the beginnings of new business.
Buon lavoro.

BY EIC’S MARKET INTELLIGENCE
We are delighted to announce our first EIC Connect event in Italy. Italy is at the forefront of transitional technologies in Europe. Whether that be the projects that are in development in country, or the work being undertaken globally by the likes of Eni, Saipem and Tecnimont, Italy is showing true leadership in the energy sector, and engagement at Connect will highlight the numerous opportunities available to the supply chain.
Italy’s commitment to accelerating its transition is creating exceptional opportunities across every part of the energy value chain. According to EICDataStream, there are currently 210 active projects spanning all energy sectors. While renewables representing over 50% of the projects proposed for development, other sectors including Energy Storage, Hydrogen and Power also represent growing opportunities. Should all of the developments proceed the country will see close $200 billion of CAPEX.
Italy’s position in Europe as a key energy partner is clear. An example of this can be seen by the two major hydrogen pipelines—the South H2 Corridor and the SunsHyne Corridor—that are being developed to transport hydrogen from North Africa to Europe as part of plans to import 10 million tonnes per annum of H2 by 2030. Snam is leading the Italian H2 Backbone, a 1,920 km network mostly repurposed from natural gas pipelines, supported by €200 million in investment and boosted by its inclusion in the EU’s fast-track PCI/PMI list.
While not the biggest energy market in Europe the combination of sizeable project opportunities and presence of major energy players makes the market an attractive one for the supply chain.
