I wanted to meet him before giving him a cover issue of thawilsonblock magazine. W hen the news came in that Nipse y Hussle was shot, it was sudden and unexpected. It completely took tha da y. So man y emotions stemming from this that I can’t really find tha right words. I’m sure there are a lot of us out there that feel this wa y.

We’re giving Nipse y Hussle a SPECIAL EDITION cover of thawilsonblock magazine because of the inspiration he shared with the World.

Personally, although I never had the chance to meet him, I alwa ys felt a connection to his music having grown up on 73 rd & Van Ness. We ma y not share tha same regional roots , but I know what it’s like growing up on LA’s Westside.

It was 2009. I was in transitional living as an emancipated foster youth. A roommate puts on Nipse y Hussle. This was during m y early stages of tuning out music I really don’t like so I wasn’t too eager to discover any new ar tists at that time. “Bur ner On My La p” comes on. I’m like, “ yo, who is this?” Before I can even get into the song, my roommate pla ys “The y Roll” featuring The Game.

Once I heard that song and saw his image, I knew he was what tha World has been waiting for. And up until the da y of his death, he never let me down on that.

I can’t sa y I alwa ys agreed with the content in Nipse y’s music. And that’s fair. Ever ything ain’t for ever ybody.

But, there was never a doubt in m y mind that Nipse y was tha hottest ra pper out since he dropped. At least on tha West Coast. And I sa y that with all due respect to Snoop, Ja y Rock, and a handful of other legendar y favorites.

An yone who knows m y stor y knows that I have a histor y of homelessness. One night, I was slee ping behind a building.

Nipse y Hussle created a facebook page just to talk to his fans. Me being tha fan

I was , I instantly reached out. I didn’t think it would ha ppen but, he responded. Nipse y actually responded to me on a fb message lol. He said, “W hat you need help with?” And so, I mentioned the 21mile Walk to Help End Gang Violence. I didn’t get a response after that, but I never took it personal because I didn’t even expect him to respond in the first place! No one knows about this punk ass little stor y but me.

And it’s damn sure something I ain’t gotta make up.

We tr uly lost a great one. A war rior. A parent. A brother. A friend. The community will mour n this loss for generations to come. This would probably be the most disa ppointing death in Hip Hop since 2pac , Biggie, & Eazy E. Losses that left fans speechless.

Angr y. Sad. Out of breath. He set an example that even I m yself strives for.

To tha family of Nipse y Hussle. To tha fans , and ever yone af fected b y his passing. Please, be encouraged! Because even Nip would’ve wanted you to live your best life.
