Sound not Working?

The Sound coming out of your Mac can be set in 2 different places. The first setting addresses the sound coming out of the Computer itself and it can be found in System Preferences.

The second setting is the sound that comes out of Logic Pro and it is addressed in the next slide.

Enable "Show Sound in Menu Bar" to change this setting easily and quickly from the Menu Bar at the top of your screen.

Check Inputs & Outputs Where is the sound going and being played out of? Are you using an interface or just playing out of your built-in speakers?

Check your volume for speakers or headphones. Check your Outputs.

Are you recording a microphone or guitar?

Check your Inputs.

Protect Your Ears and make sure the volume is low when testing settings.

Did you select the correct input?

ARE YOU CONNECTED TO INPUT 1 OR 2?

Please select the correct input on the channel strip and be sure to enable "Input Monitoring".

Low when recording

32-128

High when Mixing

256-1024

Is Low Latency Mode On? You can locate this feature in the Control Bar to reduce the delay that can occur when recording.

Are any Tracks Muted?

GO THROUGH THE MIXER (X)

Check to see if any tracks are muted or solo'd.

Is Solo Mode Mode On? You can locate this feature in the Control Bar. You know it is on because the icon is highlighted in yellow and all of the regions in the Tracks Area are muted.

Midi not working?

Are you selecting the right track? Is the track record enabled? Check the Green Midi Out button in the Piano Roll. Also, check to see that the USB cable is connected appropriately.

Midi not working?

Troubleshoot by using Midi Activity in the LCD Display. Enable it and play your Midi Controller. Can you see Midi activity? You can also try using your Musical Typing Keyboard (key command CMD+K).

Are You Using an External Instrument?

CANNOT HEAR MIDI PLAYBACK?

In the Library, check to see if you are using an External Instrument.

These will not work as you need to use an Internal Instrument.

Is The Tracks Area in Key Focus?

There are times when the Live Loops Grid is in focus and this will not allow content in the Tracks area to play. Check the Divider Column and make sure the Triangle faces the Tracks area.

Time for a Restart?

CMD+Q TO QUIT LOGIC PRO

You can close a session without necessarily shutting down Logic Once the program has fully turned off, turn it back on

What Key is Your Song in?

Did you set the Key of your song in advance? If you did not, Logic set it to C Maj. Fact: if the very first thing you do is drop an Apple Loop in your session, then Logic will set the key of your song to whatever key the loop was originally set to.

Use The Contextual Menu You can find many solutions within this menu in Logic Pro. Right-Click or Ctrl+Click
