2,000 Kits Assembled
Individuals from the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro came together to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at two events on Monday, January 20, 2025.
The first event, the Third Annual MLK Day Luncheon, was provided in partnership with Big Mama’s Kitchen and Catering, Aleece’s Sugar Shoppe, Rib Shack Smokehouse, Black Men United and UWM
– and it featured a special program by Wayne Brown, president and CEO of the Urban League of Nebraska.
In recognition of the National Day of Service, the second event was a MLK Volunteer Event – presented by UWM’s Good on the Go program. Good on the Go is a meaningful volunteer project that allows individuals and corporate teams to work together to assemble kits that support our nonprofit partners and the people they serve. Volunteers assembled snack pack kits for four local nonprofits.
