Dear Residents and Friends, Now that October is here, the start of fall is officially upon us! It’s time to put our harvest colors out on the table, pumpkin spice in our coffees, and let a nice breeze in on days when the skies are clear. This month, “trick or treat” yourselves to fall festivals, pumpkin carving, dances, and costume parties! Many of our residents who have been north for the season will be returning soon. There will be plenty of bingo and cards to play and lots of stories to be told as friends and neighbors catch up after the months of being miles apart. October in Florida should still bring us warm enough days to enjoy the pool and outdoor games with our friends. Maybe we will see some action soon on the pickleball and shuffleboard courts again. This month, look out for the Hunter’s Moon, a couple of meteor showers, Draconids peaking around the 8th and 9th, and the Orionids from Halley’s comet peaking around the 21 st and 22 nd . Enjoy a porch night with cooler weather and some stargazing with friends. In Old England, October was called Winmonath, or “wine month” for those who wish to raise a glass for tradition. Travel down memory lane to October 1957, when Sputnik I launched, marking the beginning of the Space Age. How far things have come, and how much further we have gone! There is much to celebrate in October, including German Unity Day on the 3 rd , Canadian Thanksgiving on the second Monday, Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples’ Day also falling on the second Monday, and of course “All Hallows’ Eve,” a.k.a. Halloween, happening at the end. October is also the home month for Breast Cancer Awareness and the Month of the Holy Rosary. Last but not least, we seem to have LOTS of birthdays this month in the park!! Check out the list inside so you can wish your friends a special day! FRIENDLY REMINDERS
A reminder that as the weather eases up and the outdoor projects come to mind, let’s not forget that park approval is required. Please fill out a Lot Improvement Request form at the office, or request one by email at: manager@waldenshores.com prior to purchasing materials, hiring contractors, or starting the work. A reminder that all work that is intended to be performed by a contractor requires proof of liability and workers' compensation insurance being provided to the office and approved prior to any work beginning.
We know the rain and heat can be a challenge. Let’s do our best to stay on top of the weeds and pressure washing to keep our community looking its best with beautiful, well-kept yards and sparkling homes lining the new roads.
