Happy August Sundial Residents!
I say this every newsletter: Where is the time going? It is so hard to believe that August is here. As of August 1st, there are 53 days until fall and 147 days until Christmas. It seems like yesterday we were celebrating the holidays together last year. Hard to believe we are in the summer months once again. As you know, it’s been a beautiful summer here in Oregon and the gardens are bountiful this year. We had a few very hot days in July but for the most part, the weather has been tolerable. August is looking to be a bit hot the first couple of weeks and then temperatures are predicted to drop down to the 70’s and 80’s!
We had such a great turnout for our Annual Resident Appreciation BBQ at the Sundial Center. We cooked over 100 hamburgers and hot dogs. Everyone enjoyed the food and the company. We appreciate all our residents on a daily basis, and it is our pleasure to show it.
We had an excellent turnout for the Tour of Homes on July 19th. We had over 100 visitors on our property enjoying our property, the homes, and our awesome residents. We’d like to thank Nicole, Katrina, Chris and Bill with InSight Reality who brought all the food, T-shirts, and support. Lenora McDougal, Lois Dunn, and Pat Cox were instrumental in sharing their commentary for Sundial and bringing guests. All 3 received $100 gift card. I’m sure we will do this again soon. And remember, if you refer someone to buy a new home here at Sundial, you will receive a $2000 referral check!!
Another great outcome of our Tour of Homes is we partnered up with Center 50+. They will be here on August 19th from 11 – 1 for a Meet & Greet. They will provide refreshments and information on their facility and all the wonderful programs they offer to Salem residents. Also, beginning in September, the WOW van will be coming to Sundial. Stay tuned for more information.
Another fun time here at Sundial is Peggy Shike will be holding a Cooking Class on Monday’s 10am-12pm in the Sundial Center. Stay tuned for more information.

MANAGER’S MESSAGE
Our Sunflower Contest is incredible. Right now, Danny Parish may have the tallest flower growing. Along with the heavenly Sunflowers of Maria Garca and right behind is Ida Cooper. Residents have Sunflowers growing all over the property and it will be a sight to see here when they start blooming. I want to thank everyone who has joined this fun contest. It brings smiles to everyone.
Our office will be closed on August 12th, 13th, and 14th for some needed R&R.
A special Thank You to Kay Salley who is overseeing the Garden Share at the Information Room in the Villa (Old Mailroom). We encourage anyone who is growing fruits and vegetables this year to share with other residents.
As always, we would like to thank all the volunteers that help during our events, welcome new residents to our community and bring sentiment to our residents who have lost a loved one. All that you do for our Sundial Community is greatly appreciated.
