MANAGER’S MESSAGE Happy September Sundial Residents! We hope everyone here at Sundial was able to enjoy a wonderful summer. As we venture into September, we can announce that Fall is here again. The holidays are right around the corner, and we look forward to sharing the Fall months with you. August turned into a bit of a quiet month. We had some very hot days here at Sundial. Considering all the wildfires in Oregon this last month and with the air being smoky, not a lot of residents were out in it. Looking at the extended forecast for September, the weather shows to be in the 80’s and tapering off into the 70’s towards the end of the month. No rain is forecasted. We hope you were able to come out for The Angels and our Ice Cream Social on August 22nd. We will have pictures of this fun event in our October Newsletter. We will continue to have Hot Dogs at the BBQ until the weather turns cooler and rainy. Unfortunately, water aerobics has come to an end. We want to thank Skip Saville for the time he took each day to teach and help residents with water aerobics. Now that residents have learned the different pool exercises, they are no longer coming during the times he had set aside. Maybe we will have water aerobics again in the future. Until then, we hope that those who benefited from Skip’s teachings continue to use those techniques in the pool and continue to feel better. Would you like a night of Karaoke at the Sundial Center? We are working on setting a date in October for Karaoke at the Sundial Center. Terry Lowells is a professional DJ and has been doing Karaoke for 30+ years. We’ve had many residents ask if we could have Karaoke at the Sundial Center and we finally found someone that can do this for us. Stay tuned. Also, so many residents grew beautiful flowers this year and kept their grasses so green during the hot weather. We want to take the time to thank you for the pride you bring to Sundial. We always want to end by saying Thank You to All our wonderful volunteers here at Sundial that help with our events and other needs in the community. Thank you for taking the time to show up and help others. A personal note: I would like to Thank all those who stopped by my house and signed that BIG Birthday Card while I was at the beach enjoying my birthday. Thank you so much. SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS & CHANGES REMINDER: Sundial would like to submit names to the Quilt of Valor program through Shawn Gutierrez with Beloved Hospice, the Veteran Community Liaison. As we’ve had in the newsletter for a couple of months, he is collecting names of veterans to present a Quilt of Valor to those who served in the military. If you would like a Quilt of Valor or would like to nominate someone for a Quilt of Valor, please contact Ronda in the office for a Quilt Request Forms. Currently, we have two requests, and it would be great to have more. I know we have a lot of veterans on this property. Once we have a group of names, we will present them to Shawn and set up a date to present these beautifully hand-made quilts (from the Salem Star Valor Quilters of Oregon) to our honorable veteran residents. This is one of the many benefits Shawn can share with you as a Veteran Community Liaison. Sundial is proud to support our Veteran Residents. If you would like more information on how Shawn Gutierrez can help or guide you with veteran benefits and services, please stop by the office and pick up his information. We are having a Flea Market on Friday, September 11th from 9:00 – 1:00 in the Sundial Center. If you would like a table, please stop by the office or contact the office at 503-363-6234. There will also be a SCAT Bake Sale and Bottle/Can Drive. Please remember that the holidays will be here before you know it. We have a lot of events planned in the Sundial Center from October to December. If you are planning on reserving the Clubhouse for a family event or any type of special event, please make sure to reserve early.
