MANAGER’S CORNER

Dear Residents,

Welcome to November and the beautiful season of fall! This has always been my favorite time of year — a season full of gratitude, cozy gatherings, and the simple joy of community. As the air turns crisp and the holidays draw near, I am reminded of just how thankful I am for each of you. Jadestone is not just a neighborhood, it is a community, and that is because of the wonderful people who call it home.

I am especially grateful for the spirit of kindness, helpfulness, and togetherness that shines so brightly here. Whether it’s sharing a smile, lending a helping hand, or joining in our activities, it’s the residents who truly make Jadestone a special place to live.

This November, we have some wonderful opportunities to come together and celebrate. We will honor and thank our veterans with a community breakfast. This is always such a meaningful event, and I hope you will join us in recognizing those who have served.

Later in month, we will gather for our annual Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner. The turkey will be provided — all you need to bring is your favorite side dish or dessert to share. This dinner is always a highlight of the season, filled with laughter, friendship, and of course, delicious food.

As we move into the holiday season, I want to thank you again for making this community feel like family. I am grateful to be part of Jadestone and for the chance to work alongside such wonderful residents.

This newsletter is filled with all things Thanksgiving, no updates, do’s and don’ts and certainly no mention of weeds! Let’s focus on the spirit of the season, comfort and togetherness and just be thankful for what we have.

Let’s make this a November to remember — I look forward to seeing you all at the clubhouse!

With appreciation, Alyson

THE MEANING OF GRATITUDE

Gratitude is one of life’s most beautiful gifts. It’s more than a polite “thank you”—it’s a way of seeing the world with an open heart. When we choose gratitude, we begin to notice the blessings that surround us every day: a kind word from a neighbor, laughter shared at the clubhouse, the simple comfort of a warm meal, or the golden glow of an Arizona sunset.

Gratitude reminds us to slow down and appreciate the people and moments that make life meaningful. It turns ordinary days into special ones and helps us focus not on what we lack, but on all that we have. Even in life’s challenges, gratitude helps us find light, strength, and hope.

Here at Jadestone, we have so much to be thankful for— our caring residents, helpful staff, and the wonderful sense of community that makes this place feel like home. Let’s continue to nurture that spirit by lifting one another up, lending a helping hand, and sharing kindness in both big and small ways.

This season, may we all take time to count our blessings and remember that gratitude isn’t something we practice only in November—it’s something we can carry with us all year long.

“Gratitude turns what we have into enough.” — Anonymous

LET’S HELP A NEW LEAF THIS HOLIDAY SEASON!

The holiday season is a time for gratitude, generosity, and coming together as a community. I am inviting you to participate in the food drive for A New Leaf, they are a domestic violence and homeless shelter here in Arizona with locations throughout the valley.

This is a company-wide endeavor and Cobblestone’s goal is 2500 items to provide to them prior to Thanksgiving to ensure they have the necessary supplies to help those in difficult situations.

We invite everyone to contribute non-perishable food items, canned goods, and household essentials to help families who may be struggling this time of year. Every donation, whether large or small, makes a meaningful difference. Even a single can of soup, a box of pasta, or a jar of peanut butter can help someone enjoy a warm and nourishing meal.

The box is located in the clubhouse, and donations can be dropped off anytime. Imagine the joy and relief these

families will feel when they see our community coming together to support them. Your generosity shows that the spirit of giving isn’t just about gifts—it’s about caring, compassion, and sharing what we have with those who need it most.

Let’s make this holiday season truly special by filling the box with kindness, warmth, and community spirit. Together, we can ensure that these families have something to smile about this season, and that no one feels alone or forgotten.

Thank you for opening your hearts and helping us make the holidays brighter for all. Your contributions embody the true spirit of the season and the very best of what it means to be part of our Jadestone family.

Bonus: the park who donates the most wins a security camera, or a karaoke machine! We got this Jadestone!

THE MEANING OF THANKSGIVING

Thanksgiving is more than just a holiday—it’s a time to pause, reflect, and truly appreciate the many blessings in our lives. It’s a time to celebrate family, friends, and the connections that make our community so special. Here at Jadestone, we are surrounded by caring neighbors, helpful friends, and staff who go above and beyond to make our community feel like home.

Gratitude is at the heart of Thanksgiving. It invites us to focus not on what we lack, but on the people, moments, and simple joys that bring light to our days. From shared laughter in the clubhouse to acts of kindness, big and small, each gesture reminds us of the warmth and generosity that surrounds us every day.

This season let’s take a moment to give thanks for one another and for the community we are so fortunate to be a part of. Let’s celebrate the joy of friendship, the comfort of connection, and the power of gratitude to bring us closer together. By recognizing and

WHAT I AM THANKFUL FOR

As the crisp air of November settles in and we watch the leaves turn brilliant shades of gold and red, it’s a natural time to pause and reflect on the many blessings in our lives. At Jadestone, what makes our community truly special isn’t just the beautiful surroundings or the events we share—it’s the people. It’s the residents who fill our days with laughter, kindness, and creativity, and it’s the staff whose dedication, hard work, and caring hearts make this place run smoothly and feel like home.

This month, I find myself reflecting on all the ways each person here contributes to the warmth, joy, and sense of family that make our community so extraordinary. From the thoughtful gestures that often go unnoticed to the big efforts that bring everyone together, every act of care matters. As we enter this season of gratitude, I want to shine a light on some of the wonderful residents and staff who make Jadestone such a remarkable place to live, work, and celebrate life together.

I am so thankful for Marie, whose incredible decorating skills bring beauty and warmth to every corner of our community. Her sense of humor, loyalty, and willingness to help always brighten our days. Marie’s creativity makes every space feel festive and inviting, reminding us all of the joy in small details.

Carol is another resident whose decorating talents and thoughtful touch make our community feel warm and welcoming. Beyond her creativity, Carol’s kindness and generosity shine in everything she does, from lending a hand to spreading smiles and encouragement wherever she goes.

Phyllis M is also someone we can always count on. With a positive attitude and a heart full of kindness, she tackles every task with enthusiasm and makes a difference in the lives of everyone around her. Her kindness and willingness to help everyone around her truly brighten our community.

Norma’s helping hands and creative decorating skills add such charm to our community. She’s always ready to pitch in and share a laugh and make every gathering more enjoyable with her wonderful sense of humor. She brings her caring nature and positive spirit to everything she does.

I am grateful for Mike, whose dedication to keeping our community running smoothly never goes unnoticed. His hard work, reliability, and cheerful attitude make our park a better place every day.

I am thankful for Nancy, who does an awesome job managing our monthly calendar for the newsletter. She keeps track of all the changes, ensures everything runs smoothly, and her dedication helps everyone stay informed. Her kind heart and cheerful spirit brighten the days of those around her, and she is always ready to lend a helping hand.

I want to recognize Roger, who generously volunteers his time to fix anything that is broken without a second thought. His helpfulness and willingness to step in wherever needed make life easier for all of us. Roger’s pride in keeping Jadestone looking it’s best and his genuine care for others truly shows how much he values our community.

Danuta (Donna) also deserves thanks for all her help cleaning up and setting up our monthly parties. Her efforts make our gatherings more enjoyable and memorable for everyone; she is always early and stays late to activities and is always willing to help.

Jeanie, our lively and enthusiastic bingo host, brings fun, laughter and excitement to every game. Her energy makes Bingo a highlight of the month, and it’s wonderful to see everyone enjoying themselves with her guidance and humor. It doesn’t stop there; Jeanie also comes early and stays late to activities to lend a helping hand.

Sunshine works tirelessly to care for our feral cat population. She takes on the challenging job of trapping and transporting cats to be fixed (with Tweety’s help transporting, thank you Tweety)helping ensure a healthier, more balanced community for both residents and pets. It’s not easy, but Sunshine’s dedication and compassion make a real difference in our community.

I am grateful for Linda, Susan, Dave and Tim, whose support during parties and everyday acts of kindness in taking care of neighbors make our community stronger and more connected. Your willingness to help and share your time is truly appreciated.

I want to recognize Violet, our incredible housekeeper. Her hard work, dedication, and attention to detail keep our community clean, welcoming, and comfortable for everyone. Violet always goes the extra mile and helps keep us safe, often working behind the scenes to make sure our park runs smoothly. Her efforts make a huge difference in the daily lives of residents and staff alike, and I am truly grateful for everything she does to make Jadestone feel like home.

And finally, to my residents. I’m so thankful to my residents, who make Jadestone such a warm and welcoming place to work. Your kindness, teamwork, and willingness to lend a hand to one another create a true sense of community. From sharing smiles and laughter to showing up for events and helping neighbors in need, you make Jadestone feel like family- and for that, I am deeply grateful.

DID YOU KNOW…THANKSGIVING EDITION!

1.The term “fall” traces back to the 1500s. In the late 1300s, though, nobody referred to this season as fall. They only called it “autumn,” which itself came from France’s autompne and the Latin autumnus.

It wasn’t until the 1500s that people in England began calling it fall, from the phrase “the fall of the leaf.”

By the 1600s, “autumn” reigned supreme in England, and “fall” went to North America.

2.The color of fall leaves depends on their sugar content. Leaves generate a lot of sugar during sunny days. But in the fall, when temperatures drop, the veins of leaves get clogged, trapping the sugars inside the leaves.

Anthocyanin pigments form when leaves have high sugar levels, and this causes them to turn red, purple, or crimson.

On the other hand, leaves turn yellow or gold when they produce carotenoid pigments, which are always present in the leaves and are less dependent on the amount of sugar trapped in them.

3.Fall leaves have countless uses. The most classic of uses would be to shred them and use them as mulch. When spread over soil, it provides a protective layer to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and shelter plants from the elements.

You can also add fall leaves to your compost heap. They’re a great brown material to mix with green materials like grass clippings, turning into nutrient-rich compost.

If gardening isn’t your thing, though, you can also use fall leaves for fun projects like making seasonal suncatchers, colorful leaf lanterns, or dried autumn leaf wreaths!

4.People who travel to see the vibrant leaf colors of fall are called “leaf peepers.”Leaf peepers, as they’re known in the US and Canada, will often travel great distances to capture photos and videos of fall’s splendor.

Popular destinations for these types of tourists include Lake Placid, New York, Taos, New Mexico, and Aspen, Colorado.

The appreciation of fall colors isn’t restricted to North America, of course. This activity in Japan is known as Momijigari, from the words momiji (red leaves or maple tree) and kari (hunting).

5.Trees drop their leaves in the fall to protect themselves from the cold. If their leaves remained on the tree, they would freeze and rupture, rendering them useless for growing food and susceptible to damage from wind and snow.

The process begins when the tree stops producing chlorophyll, the green photosynthesizing pigment in leaves.

As chlorophyll production ceases, the green color fades, revealing the vibrant fall colors we all admire.

Subsequently, each leaf’s stem is severed by the tree itself, and the leaf gently falls to the ground.
