OCTOBER 2026 NEWSLETTER
A COBBLESTONE COMMUNITY
FROM THE DESK OF Celicia Kincaid, Desertscape Park Manager October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We see the pink ribbons every year, but behind every ribbon is a real person, a real family, and a real story. For someone, it represents the day they heard the words, “You have cancer.” For someone else, it represents months of appointments, treatments, fear, and uncertainty. For a survivor, that pink ribbon may represent strength and another year of life. And for those who have lost someone they loved, it may represent a person they would give anything to have one more conversation with. That is why this month is about so much more than wearing pink.

It is a reminder to take care of ourselves while we still have the opportunity to do so. Schedule the appointment you have been putting off. Talk with your doctor about recommended screenings. Pay attention when something about your body doesn’t feel right. Your health matters, and you matter to more people than you may realize.

The views expressed here are not necessarily those of Cobblestone, Desertscape, or its Management Team, and they are not responsible for any content, and do not endorse any advertisers.
It is also a reminder to take care of each other. Here at Desertscape, we live just a few doors away from people who may be fighting battles we know nothing about. Sometimes the neighbor who waves and smiles every morning is also the person going through one of the hardest times of their life. So knock on the door. Make the phone call. Ask, “Are you okay?” Offer a ride. Bring over a meal. Sit and listen. And if you haven’t seen your neighbor in a while, check on them. We never know when one small act of kindness may be exactly what someone needs. This October, Desertscape honors the fighters, celebrates the survivors, remembers those we have lost, and stands beside every family whose life has been touched by breast cancer. Please take care of yourself. Please take care of your neighbors. Because at the end of the day, a community isn’t just the place where we live.

October also means we’ll start welcoming back some of our winter friends, and it is always so enjoyable having everyone back at Desertscape.
The Association Board Members met in August The Association had its first fall event on September 6th. We hosted a Labor Day Potluck. From all the comments, it appears to have been a Great Success.
This month is going to be especially busy! I’m teaming up with our Sales Team to plan 10 fun events throughout October, so make sure you check the calendar and come join us. There will be plenty of opportunities to get together, have some fun, meet new people, and enjoy our community.
As we go into the month of October, we have a couple of holidays that will be celebrated. October 12, 2026, is observed as Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples’ Day in the United States. October 31, 2026, falls on a Saturday and is celebrated as Halloween.
Card Games – Different games are played throughout the month
As the Desertscape Community goes into October, we can hope for the weather cooling down and nice fall nights to be spent outside. Keeping our fingers crossed to see if we will have Bingo on Thursdays. October 3, 2026, Breakfast In The Park will start at the Clubhouse from 8:30am to 9:30am. Watch for the Breakfast Menus. The Association will be having a Halloween House Decorating Event. Anyone in the Community that decorates their house for Halloween will be in the running for the best decorated house. We will be giving a First, Second, & Third Prize. So, let’s DECORATE !! The Association is planning on another event on Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 1:00pm to ?? Football Party: GREEN BAY PACKERS against the Detroit Lions. We will be serving Burgers and Brats along with your favorite sides. The game will be on the TV outside (for the smokers) and on the Big Screen in the Clubhouse.
Bingo – Coming back soon!
Let’s have a Great October.
