Our team is fully committed to keeping Beach Cove looking its absolute best for you. This month, our maintenance crews are focusing on keeping the pool pristine, freshening up the common areas, and ensuring our landscaping remains beautifully manicured. We want to thank all of you for doing your part to keep our shared spaces clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone.

Resident Centric • Coffee and Donut Hour was held with the Social Club Meeting on July 1st at 11:00 am to plan this month’s events. Our next Coffee and Donut Hour/Social Club Meeting will be on August 5th at 11:00 am. We invite everyone to join in and share ideas for future events, and enjoy coffee and donuts together!

• The 250th Independence Day Celebration turned out great with delicious chicken, cooked by our Chef Ken and BBQ ribs provided by Woodys! Thanks to our wonderful residents, we brought delicious sides and deserts. There was even a costume contest that was won by Donna Nielsen! Congratulations to Janet for winning the 50/50. Check out the pictures!

• Bingo was held July 3rd and July 17th with a lot of happy winners joining in the fun! This month’s bingo will be on August 1st with a second Bingo on August 15th both starting at 3 pm. Congratulations to all the winners!

• Movie night was held on July 13th, featuring “Overboard” and popcorn. What a great show! Our next featured movie will be another great show “Six Days, Seven Nights” starring Harrison Ford, Anne Heche & David Schwimmer on August 10th starting at 6 pm. Thank you Mia and Ken for making this happen!

• Thank you Susan M. for organizing the Scrabble games that was held July 28th! Scrabble will be held on the last Tuesday of the month starting at 1 pm. It’s a great way to exercise our brains while having fun!!

Please walk around your home to be sure it is neat and tidy, let’s continue working together to keep Beach Cove looking its best by maintaining our homes and common areas and being mindful of our community guidelines. Small efforts from each of us help preserve the welcoming atmosphere we all enjoy.

UPCOMING EVENTS at Beach Cove Coffee & Donuts and Social Club Meeting - Please join us for coffee and donuts during the social club meeting on August 5th starting at 11:00 am. We want everyone to bring their ideas and help create more fun events.

Bingo – Bingo will be held on August 7th and August 21st starting at 3 pm. Be sure to bring your lucky charms and try to win a game or two!

Movie Night – Movie night hosted by Mia will be August 10th starting at 6 pm in the clubhouse. This month featured movie is the funny romantic comedy “Six Day, Seven Nights” starring Harrison Ford, Anne Heche & David Schwimmer. Enjoy a great movie while munching on popcorn!

Ice Cream Social – What a better way to beat the summer heat than with some cold, delicious ice cream. Join us August 14th at 2 pm in the clubhouse for an afternoon treat!

Scrabble with Susan – Join Susan on August 25th in a challenging game of Scrabble. It’s a great way to exercise your brain while having fun!! Starts at 1 pm in the clubhouse.

Water Aerobics – Monday, Wednesday, & Fridays starting at 10 am. Have fun while keeping healthy!

Happy Hour at the Tiki – Enjoy the afternoon with your neighbors and friends at the Tiki Hut every Friday beginning at 4 pm. Bring your favorite beverage and snacks while you catch up with the latest from your friends!

Horseshoes – As always, the horseshoe players and spectators are out there every Sunday at 1 pm challenging their friends and neighbors to play a fun game! We have some talented players so stop by and cheer them on!

What’s Happening around town?

• August 6–9: Swordfish Shootout. Anglers compete for big swordfish offshore, launching out of Sebastian. Register and track the action on the Swordfish Shootout Site.

• August 7: Sebastian Grill Out Night. A free, family-friendly summer open house event hosted by the Chamber of Commerce celebrating local businesses from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM throughout the city.

• August 9: PETTY USA Tribute. Enjoy an outdoor Tom Petty tribute band starting at 4:00 PM at Earl’s Hideaway Lounge.

• August 28: Gen Xtasy Debut. Catch the high-energy ‘90s tribute band at Pareidolia Brewing Co. in Sebastian starting at 6:00 PM. • August 29: Gary Schutt Performance. Rock musician Gary Schutt plays live at The Sandbar Beach Club at Capt Hirams Resort at 7:30 PM. 250th Independence Day

Spicy Shrimp Tacos WITH MANGO SALSA INGREDIENTS TACOS • 1¼ pounds shrimp, peeled

MANGO SALSA • 1 mango, finely diced

• 1 tablespoon chile powder

• ½ red onion, minced

• 1½ teaspoons garlic powder

• 1 garlic clove, minced

• ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper

• ½ jalapeño, minced

• 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil

• Juice of 1 lime

• Salt & black pepper

• ¼ cup chopped cilantro

• 12 yellow corn tortillas • 1 cup shredded cabbage

• Salt & black pepper

• 1 to 2 tablespoons hot sauce (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS 1. Make the mango salsa.

In a medium bowl, stir the mango with the red onion, garlic, jalapeño, lime juice and cilantro to combine. Season with salt and pepper; set aside.

2. Make the tacos.

In a medium bowl, toss the shrimp with the chile powder, garlic powder and cayenne pepper.

3. Sauté the shrimp.

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the shrimp and sauté until pink and fully cooked through, 4 to 5 minutes. Season with salt, pepper and hot sauce (if using).

4. Toast the tortillas.

Heat another large skillet over medium heat. Working in batches, place 2 or 3 tortillas in the pan and heat until lightly browned on each side, 1 minute per side. Repeat until all tortillas are toasted.

5. Build the tacos.

Divide the cabbage among the toasted tortillas. Pile the shrimp on top and then garnish with the salsa. Serve immediately.
