Hello Fabulous Friends!

Can you believe it’s already August? Time is flying faster than a popsicle melting in August! ��☀ As always, it’s a joy to be part of this incredible community where the only thing warmer than the weather is your smiles.

Sure, it’s hot, but don’t worry, we’ve got plenty of ways to stay cool, connected, and comfortable right here in our wonderful community. It’s a great month to enjoy all our amenities and events—ice cream social, casino cruise, pool gatherings, tiki bar-b-ques, Trivia night and yes, “Richard Simmons Sweating to the Oldies” yoga session in the clubhouse. Don’t forget to check the calendar and mark your favorites. And if you’ve got a talent, a joke, or a secret family recipe you’re willing to share, we’re all ears—and probably hungry! ��

Let’s keep hydrating, laughing, and looking out for one another so stay cool, stay kind, and as always—thank you for making this community the heart of Florida living.

COMMUNITY UPDATES

• We are continuing to replace the unsatisfactory electrical pedestals and disconnect panels for your homes. You will be notified if your home is affected and when the replacement will take place. You will be without power during the process and we will update you with the date and time as it gets closer.

• Be sure to check out the flyer for our Beach Cove Mobile App. This application will eventually be replacing our phone broadcast and mass emails. It will have all the information about events and much more. They are working on making it available for your computer too, if you do not like using your phone.

• We now have a new dartboard and ring toss game at the tiki hut. Check it out and have some fun!!

• Hurricane season is here. Please review the preparedness checklist that has been emailed or stop by the office for a copy. It is also on the Beach Cove Mobile App.

• Please keep your dogs leashed and clean up after them – thank you!

UPCOMING EVENTS

at Beach Cove

Coffee & Donuts and Social Club Meeting – Please join us for coffee and donuts at 10 am and the social club meeting following at 11 am on August 6th. Enjoy a sweet treat and help us create our monthly events with your ideas and suggestions. Remember, everyone is invited to attend!

Trivia Night – On August 12th Trivia Night will feature a special game starting at 6 pm. It could be Family Feud, Jeopardy or something new!

Ice Cream Social – On August 14th at 2 pm join us for some yummy ice cream and toppings at the clubhouse. The cost will be $5.00 with all proceeds going to the American Heart Association Benefit.

Victory Casino Cruise – For only $25.00 you can enjoy a day on the cruise ship gaming or just relaxing. Included is a meal voucher and complementary drinks while gaming. Please contact Kathy Baker at the office before August 4th if you are interested.

Richard Simmons Sweating to the Oldies – Held every Tuesday and Thursdays starting at 10 am at the Clubhouse. It’s a fun way to keep in shape!

Water Aerobics – Monday, Wednesday, & Fridays starting at 10 am. Have fun while keeping healthy!

Horseshoes – Every Sunday at 1 pm the talented horseshoe players gather along with their faithful spectators. Try your luck or just come and watch!

Game Night – Every Wednesday and Sunday at 6 pm you can find the card and game players using their crafty strategies to beat their opponents. Feel lucky…. Why not join in?

As summer rolls on, we want to take a moment to thank you, our wonderful residents. Your efforts to keep your homes and landscaping clean, tidy and welcoming do not go unnoticed. It’s your pride of ownership that keeps Beach Cove looking its best, and we truly appreciate it.

Resident Centric

• Coffee and Donut Hour was held on July 2nd at 10 am with the Social Club Meeting following at 11 am to plan this month’s upcoming events. Everyone enjoyed the coffee and donuts brought to us by Kathy from Love Bugs Bakery! Thanks Kathy! Everyone is invited to attend our next Social Club Meeting on August 6th at 11 am following another coffee and donut gathering at 10 am. We would love to hear your ideas and suggestions, and you don’t want to miss the delicious donuts!

• Independence Day was a great success! Not only did we enjoy the food from Woody’s Bar-B-Que, with your generosity more money was raised for the American Heart Benefit with a 50/50 drawing. The winner of the 50/50 was Vi and she donated all her winnings back to the benefit. Thank you Vi and thank you all who participated!!

• Bingo was held on July 4th. Congrats to the winners! August’s bingo has been cancelled and will resume Friday, September 5th at 3 pm. See you then!

• Taco Bar/Trivia Night/Jeopardy was held on July 22nd. The Taco Bar helped raise money for the American Heart Assoc. Benefit! Thank you all who donated to this worthy cause and enjoyed the delicious taco meal! The Jeopardy game was a great way to test our minds, but it was also a lot of fun. Our next game night will be on August 12th at 6 pm.

Hot Honey BBQ Chicken Thighs

WITH CITRUS SLAW SALAD

INSTRUCTIONS - CHICKEN THIGHS

INGREDIENTS

CHICKEN THIGHS

• 1 ½ Pounds Boneless, Skinless Chicken Thighs

• Kosher Salt And Pepper

• 1 Teaspoon Smoked Paprika

• 1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder

• 3 Tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar

• 2 Tablespoons Hot Honey, Or Regular Honey

• 2 Tablespoons Bbq Sauce

• Sesame Seeds, For Garnish

CITRUS SLAW

• 1 small green cabbage, thinly sliced

• 2 carrots, shaved with a vegetable peeler

• 1 red onion, thinly sliced

• ⅓ cup chopped cilantro

• ¼ cup sliced almonds

• 1 to 2 oranges, segmented and chopped

• 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice

• 1 tablespoon honey

• 1 garlic clove, minced

• big pinch of kosher salt and pepper

• ¼ cup avocado oil

1. Preheat the broiler in your oven to high. Make sure there is an oven rack directly beneath it.

2. Place the chicken thighs on a baking sheet. Season the chicken all over liberally with salt and pepper. Season all over with the smoked paprika and garlic powder.

3. Place under the broiler and broil for 6 minutes. Remove and flip the chicken over. Broil for 6 minutes more. While the chicken is broiling, whisk together the hot honey, BBQ sauce and vinegar.

4. Remove the chicken again and brush it with the honey mixture. Return to the oven and broil for 1 minute. Remove and flip the chicken thighs, brushing the other side with the honey mixture. Broil again for 1 minute. Repeat once or twice more until you get the desired charred topping.

INSTRUCTIONS - CITRUS SLAW

1. In a large bowl, combine the cabbage, carrots, cilantro, red onion, almonds and oranges. In a small bowl, whisk together the lime juice, honey, garlic, salt and pepper. Whisk in the oil until emulsified.

2. Pour the dressing over the slaw and toss well so everything is coated. Once the slaw is ready, slice the chicken thighs and place them on top of the slaw. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve!
