MUSEUM OF NATURAL CURIOSITY™ Open to the public May 15, 2014. 45,000 square foot building, 40,000 square feet of exhibit space. LEED certified in the Barbara Barrington Jones Family Foundation building. Offers more than 400 interactive exhibits and experiences for all ages. Four indoor galleries and one outdoor gallery include: Rainforest, filled with ancient ruins and chambers, an indigenous market, and physical challenges like a temple climb, ropes course, and challenges. Guests can crawl inside the 45-foot-tall monkey head and find the way to a Piper Cub suspended in the rainforest canopy. Water Works gives a space for guests to experiment with water, simple machines, wind power, solar power, and tectonic forces. An innovative floor design allows water tables to flow outside of the exhibit onto the floor, broadening the opportunities for exploration. Kidopolis, a kid-sized town filled with surprises. A theatre, puppet stage, music shop, stop motion animation, and other creative experiences await guests of all ages. Traveling Exhibit Gallery is specially designed with a floating floor allowing for the movement of cable underneath exhibits for power and data to be delivered directly to exhibits. Exhibits change every six months or less throughout the year and are brought to Thanksgiving Point thanks to a partnership with Adobe. A 5-acre outdoor Discovery Garden including: Archimedes Playground, with zipline (inclined plane), Archimedes screw, and other playground toys designed to teach about the six classical machines of engineering. A Nature Explore Playground, the first certified Arbor Day Nature Explore space in Utah. Includes hedgerow maze and hidden water features.
