SOBEIDA LABOY @LABOYREALESTATE Sobeida Laboy reached out to me in January of 2020 with the brilliant idea for me to be her social media manager. I laughed out of confusion with a load of questions to follow, my first one being, "Why me?" Since then, I have not only converted myself into a self-taught social media guru, but I have received very positive feedback on the increase of traction she has gained in the real estate community. Having a transparent and genuine relationship with my clients is my key to helping them bring the vision for their brand to life.
"Buy with Laboy" I began my process with Laboy by completing a social media audit. For those trying to create their professional presence from scratch, it is useful to use their personal accounts as a guide. After analyzing the patterns related to frequency of posts, highest periods of engagement, and the like, I can give my client feedback on how to improve or establish their brand’s presence. By assessing what Laboy needed to improve and what her overall business goals are, I was able to find a happy medium for us to start collaborating. I began by helping Laboy form SMART goals and also got to know her style and aesthetic preferences. Next, I spent a month testing my designs by analyzing how followers engaged with my posts. Shortly after, I was able to solidify a strategy, with room for us to adapt as needed.

@SOTO_ARCHITECTURE Soto Proposes a New Design for the Reeves Center! The redevelopment of the Reeves Center is an incredible opportunity to celebrate Black culture and the legacy of the African American community in our City. We propose a matter-ofright development that promotes pedestrian activity, provides high-quality affordable housing, expands job opportunities, and celebrates the legacy of Franklin D. Reeves, Mayor Marion Barry Jr., and Black culture in our Nation’s Capital. Our plan is to implement 250 apartments, 46 condos, 100,000 square feet of office space, a 150-room hotel, plus retail and public spaces through this redevelopment. We live and work in this neighborhood, therefore implementing meaningful design gestures that will benefit the rest of the community was our main priority during the design process.
Oftentimes, while working remotely, the collaborative factor that comes from being in the same office is missing. The Reeves design proposal has re-ignited that spark for us, by encouraging us all to pause and look at the bigger picture as a team. We aspire to create the same “pause” along the bustling U Street Corridor - as residents and visitors interact with the revitalized Reeves Center. Amongst the Soto team, many conversations about our experiences in pedestrian-friendly, urban developments allowed us to explore what works best in these kinds of spaces and why. Experimentation took place in the form of continual design charrettes - one of our favorite parts of the design process. Early on we could feel the team’s enthusiasm spread like a ripple effect. This creative process alluded to the significance of this project overall – as we continuously refined each other's ideas while never steering away from one key concept: invitation. Being cognizant of the site’s historical context has informed several of our design choices and creative vision. Our development is organized by a series of carefully crafted pedestrian spaces that connect U Street with V Street and 14th Street and unites all the buildings in the Parcel. These spaces and buildings are shaped to maximize visual connectivity and pedestrian access, creating a new, vibrant node for the DC community. "This project is huge for us not only because it is a large-scale project with a deeply rooted historical context, but also because of its proximity to us. It is home. It is a place that we frequent as a firm, but especially for people like me, who live close by - this project is our neighborhood." Pedro Camargo, Project Coordinator The potential for economic growth through the Reeves revitalization is beyond what we can imagine. The DC metropolitan area is already known for its walkability by residents and visitors alike - attracting about 20 million people from all over the world each year. Walking into a location like the Reeves Center is ideal for this area. There is a multitude of viewpoints and interactive access points that speak to the livelihood of DC. By collaborating with Legacy Community Partners, a real estate development firm formed to respond to changing development patterns, we will be able to create new opportunities within our community. The Reeves revitalization project is projected to increase foot traffic by 976 people per day and deliver approximately 4,000 jobs. We are honored to share our vision with the rest of the community and build upon the historical narrative of the Reeves Center.

@SOTO_ARCHITECTURE An Interview with President, Sister Hagar and Capital Campaign Director, Monica Horton lizabeth Seton, a private, all-girls Roman Catholic high school in E Bladensburg, Maryland, is just about ready to welcome a brand new cafeteria to their community! During interviews with Sister Ellen Marie Hagar, Seton high school’s President, and Monica Horton, the school’s Capital Campaign Director, it was clear that Seton’s students are part of a close-knit community driven by a strong support system. Horton has worked very closely with Sister Hagar to make sure that the community supports Seton’s growth. Just recently, for the cafeteria campaign, Horton has helped Seton parents hold an online fundraiser called, “Seton’s Cafeteria Renovation Needs Your Support!” Parents, family members, and friends all came together to contribute and raise $25,000 in the first week of February!
There have been several other fundraisers for renovations throughout the school, but the cafeteria is special to Seton because as the first room visitors see upon entry, it sets the tone for the rest of the school. It is also unique because it is open to the surrounding Bladensburg community! According to Horton, the school’s recent auditorium renovation is what inspired the renovation of the cafeteria. The students felt that a renovated cafeteria would speak to the modernity and vibrancy of the auditorium and library renovations that have been implemented to represent Seton’s spirit of excellence. “Both rooms are next to each other,” said Horton, “so before, when someone would walk into the school and see the beautiful auditorium and then see the 60-year-old cafeteria next to it, there was a disconnect…” “A lot of students are at school until 6:30 p.m. - at which point the library is no longer open, and the next space to work or lounge in would be the dining hall,” said Horton. This has made carrying out the representation of the school into the cafeteria that much more important. The previous cafeteria had no representation of Seton. It could have been placed in any other high school in the country. Now, students can be certain that the cafeteria will represent Seton’s true identity because their ideas have been put at the forefront of the design! According to Horton and Sister Hagar, being a part of the LEAD program and collaborating with Soto has been a very unique and beneficial experience for the students. “Tracing back to the original three girls who laid down the foundation for the project through their research, Soto Architecture has taught them in ways that were very practical and project-oriented. I don't know where they would have been if it weren’t for this experience. I believe that if you’re not project-oriented, you’re just learning random things and processes,” said Sister Hagar. The four current LEAD students and the three who graduated in 2020, are all aware that there are a lack of women in the engineering field. Being able to participate in such a collaborative project with consistent mentorship has helped them gain a more profound understanding of the industry. “Kevin, [the construction manager on site] and Fernando, [Soto’s Founder and Principal] have been very welcoming and supportive to the Seton students during the process. They are interested in answering the student’s questions and helping them succeed,” said Horton. Each of the current students has had to do research on a particular topic within the renovation project, for example, students would have to ask Fernando or Amber questions to figure out what to say during their HVAC or cloud ceiling pitch decks. They have each had very active roles in the design and development of the project, (Horton). Participating in the design process last year and currently following through with construction has given all seven of Seton’s students the opportunity to understand the practicalities of a project. In order to be articulate about the process, the four current girls have had to study the foundation of the project. Saving the research that the original three girls did last year and passing it down to the current students made this possible.

@SOTO_ARCHITECTURE Construction on Southern Avenue is Almost Done... and Soto's Interns are There to See It! As our latest assisted living project takes shape, we put our hard hats on and enter the construction site to learn firsthand what it takes to finalize a project. At the break of dawn, we prepare for the review process; taking “punch walks'' through the Southern Avenue units and continuing this process on a weekly basis. We are thrilled to be a part of the Southern Avenue review process as it has granted us an allencompassing experience. Becoming familiar with all of the regulations, processes, stakeholders, and deadlines in a project is so much easier when it can be experienced on the job, in real-time! We are in charge of thoroughly inspecting each unit in the building to make sure it has been properly constructed and assembled for senior residents to live in. Because this is an assisted living project, we have learned a lot about how the American’s with Disabilities Act informs assisted living designs in real life. ADA features can often be overlooked in commercial buildings if you are not using them, but given the typology of this project, these features are at the forefront of the design and we can see them integrated with every room and unit. We have a new, bittersweet relationship with blue tape; one that works as our “call-for-action” and in some cases has marked up an entire unit from top to bottom. We are using Procore, a cloud-based construction management application, and its many helpful tools, such as the “punch list” and “drawings” tools, to document major items that need to be worked on before being checked off the punch list. This system allows us to easily communicate what items need to be fixed with Construction Project Managers on the job. Seeing things come together on-site helps us better understand how to compose designs electronically and even diagrammatically. Being able to fit the real-life use of a space into the four corners of a computer screen, given the many restrictions of Computer-Aided Design, is fascinating. It has added a layer of appreciation for designers in the Architecture field. Working on an assisted living project makes us cognizant of the different amenities that really make a building livable and workable for all people. This is a refreshing endeavor, compared to the tasks Architectural interns are typically given. We are fortunate to see so many sides of a project and understand the different lucrative steps taken to develop Architectural concepts. ”I have seen some of the concepts for this project in Sketchup and seeing how some issues were solved on the computer made more sense once I was in the room, examining the readiness of the space for our soon-to-be residents. I am proud to represent Soto on a real construction site and witness the building come to life in front of me. I see a multitude of ongoing construction projects in the city, but having my own personal protective equipment and being assigned tasks for a project designed by Soto makes me feel like I am part of the bigger picture.” Thalia Nichole Jimenez

Package 3
Package 1 offers you a social media audit which allows me to provide you with important feedback during our one-onone consultation. We will discuss your current patterns and the strategy you should follow to enhance your social media presence.
Package 2 offers clients the social media guidance they need to feel confident in the representation of their brand. This package allows clients and I to collaborate very closely. Don’t just think of me as your social media manager, consider me your “partner in design” helping you bring your vision to life, one post at a time. A $100 deposit is required to secure your consultation.
Package 3 offers you a bundle of 35 pre-designed posts, captions, and hashtags for you to post at your leisure. This is perfect for someone who is very active on social media, but needs some branding and creative direction.
