I won’t miss every single one of you playing ‘Clash of Kings’ and explaining to me how it is helping your A-Level studies. Your Head Student and Senior Prefect Team have been amazing - as have so many of you in CCF, DofE, volunteering and other leaderships roles, reflecting your commitment to the wider community of SGS. It was an honour reading the UCAS applications of every single one of you, which allowed your personal qualities, individual aims and ambitions to shine through and I wish each and every one of you all the best with your futures.

A very fond (and slightly emotional!) farewell to Year 13, Class of 2026. It has been both a pleasure and an honour to be Head of Year to the brilliant Suttonians who grace the pages of this Yearbook. In a school where high achievement is basically the norm, it’s easy to forget just how exceptional you are. But you smashed records with the highest ever GCSE results at Sutton Grammar, with a phenomenal 68% of grades at 8 or 9.
But grades aside, what truly sets you apart is your loyalty—to your studies (mostly), your clubs and activities, and most importantly, to each other. Watching you grow as people, has been one of the best parts of my job. I’ve loved seeing friendships form, and I hope they last long after you leave SGS.
To the super-smart, hugely talented, occasionally chaotic but always wonderful Class of 2026: I wish you good health, happiness, and all the success you absolutely deserve.

Dear Year 13,
“Now the end is near”, as the song says. For lots of you it probably can’t come soon enough, for others it will bring some sadness and trepidation, but what it should bring is pride. You have made it through sixth form, many of you without your lanyards (but that’s another story!), but ultimately richer for the process. My role allows for much observation and I’ve watched you mature, navigate di icult times, and preserve. I watched you bounce back when things haven’t gone to plan, and go again with renewed enthusiasm, and ‘lock in’ until you got what you wanted.
I’ve watched the sisterhood of the female students grow into a fiercely supportive network, who look out for each other and notice when one of the group needs a bit of extra encouragement. I’ve watched the ‘new’ tag be dropped from the ‘new students’ who joined us, as the cohort just absorbed them as their own.
Now, together, you will finish Year 13, and Sutton Grammar School with a shared experience, some happy memories, and the longest summer of your lives!
The time has come to fly the proverbial SGS nest, ready for your onward journeys. Please make sure you come back and update us on your lives after school, and also come back to guide and support the next generation of SGS fledglings, as so many did for you.

Farewell year 13,
How these 7 or 2 years have flown by and it is time for you to leave SGS! I am looking forward to seeing the year 7 photos and comparing the flu that has sprouted on your heads and faces. I have enjoyed my many numerous random chats that we have whilst I sit in room 57. The delight of constantly telling you to be quiet has been something! My nods of hello and thank you miss makes me smile. It has been my joy to tell you to be quiet.
The vast majority of you have been friendly, welcoming and chatty, it has been a pleasure getting to know you. I am sure that I will hear about some of your adventures from various sources. Enjoy your next adventure, be it at university or working. Keep in touch and think about o ering to speak to the other years about your pathway. In a couple of years’, you could be giving a presentation to year 12’s lecture slot about the interesting things you have done (and then they can ask you for work experience). There is always the possibility of talking to years 10 and 11 for their careers bites sessions. Oops sorry my careers hat was showing then.
Good luck and say hello if you spot me out and about in the wild (outside school). All the best

To all of you, lovely people, I will genuinely miss you all! (I might perhaps even miss the constant having to remind you to take o your coats…. Second thoughts, maybe I won’t miss that!)
I have loved our Fridays especially; the birthday ritual of candles, singing happy birthday and giving of a birthday card, then the Kahoot with its inevitable accompaniment of “Skiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip” emanating from somewhere over to my left (I wander who that could be, hmmmm). The inventive names you come up with (though of course I can’t forget Abrisajola or CWOK who faithfully log on every week); I now routinely assume that the person who is top on the leader board or whatever, calling themselves by the name of a member of the form, is actually not going to be that person and I enjoy the weekly puzzle of trying to work out who it actually is!
I will miss your good-natured dealing with all the demands placed on you by school life as well as the fantastic contributions some of you have made to this school. You have learned to roll with it and thus get through this mountain of work, UCAS, form time programme, work experience, prefect duties, uniform policy etc etc, with your spirits relatively intact and, I hope, ready to go out into adult life equipped and raring to show the world the wonderful people that you are.
Some of you have had a bumpier ride through the sixth form than others, and I have felt privileged to have been involved in talking to you about things and hearing your thoughts and feelings as you journey through the ups and downs of life as an adolescent. I’ve especially enjoyed teaching some of you for Personal Development lessons as well. Every single one of you has stamped their own mark on SGS and I pray that each of you knows a warm feeling inside when you look back on your time here with us. I know that I will look back on my time as your form teacher with great joy!

I’ve genuinely enjoyed getting to know every single one of you in 13D. You’re all such interesting, kind, and unique individuals, and I hope you’ve enjoyed our form times together as much as I have.
When I arrived in September 2024 and was handed 13D as my form, it was quite a change from my previous school—where I was a Year 7 form tutor. Thankfully, several of you allowed me to continue using the skills I’d perfected with 11 year olds (some of you even needed them…).
More importantly, most of you were wonderfully welcoming and made my time with you something special. You helped me feel a part of Sutton Grammar incredibly quickly, and for that I’m really grateful.

Thoughtful, respectful and considerate. Of course, given the opportunity, you quickly become a chatty bunch, raucously laughing or debating amongst yourselves. What makes you special as a group is the balance you strike: capable of quiet focus and kindness but equally able to bring energy and personality to every day. Our mornings developed their own traditions these past 2 years: Jacob correctly identifying any national flag in Year 12 and many of you becoming cryptic crossword masters in Year 13. Friday afternoons are always good fun with everyone getting involved in the quiz. Overall, I feel confident that I have prepared you well for adulthood by ensuring you never face the world without a lanyard or mini-whiteboard to hand. It has been a pleasure being your form tutor and I wish you all the best in your forthcoming adventures.

I took over this group in September, halfway through their sixth form career and it would be fair to say that in the months since we have treated each other with equal indi erence - I have as much interest in their futures as they have in my Thoughts and Words of the Day. Nevertheless, there have been some moderately conversational moments in form times, and I will certainly remember them as students who were at Sutton Grammar School. Perhaps more of note would be the incessant regularity and cheerfulness of Hari’s “Good mornings”, Alex Springate’s daily determination in demeaning his tutor, Ben Green Kelly’s absolute fixation on the phone I technically never noticed and Daniel Booker’s Kahoot victories in all rounds except the one that actually offered a prize.
More generally, we existed in a perfectly cordial mutual understanding of the arcane and faintly ridiculous nature of school rules and I could not have asked for a more amenable group of students to have retired from the stresses of Y9 tutoring to.

After 30 years of teaching, I wanted a challenge and asked for my first year-12 form last year. At the time, I'd have never guessed that being a sixth-form tutor would become one of the highlights of my teaching career. But somewhere between the “Is drinking allowed in an IT room?” debates, the blazer-resistance movement, and my daily ritual of begging at least seven of you to please look vaguely like you were a grammar school student, something magical happened.
You became my favourite part of the day. Every morning began with Lathumithan, already dressed to perfection, smiling like the moral support character in a feel- good movie, while Farhan wandered in looking like he had teleported directly from Year 7 and immediately needed a nap. Fahim never took an exiat even once, because talking to the receptionist would have been worse than academic failure, and honestly, I respected the consistency.
Then came the parade of individual personalities. Luca, colour-coordinated like a TikTok fashion influencer, brightened the room each morning with his remarkable shirt-tie combinations. And opposite him stood Girisan, who treated the form room as an extension of his bedroom wardrobe, casually completing his outfit while the rest of us pretended this was normal.
Co ee wafted through the room, which could only mean Cathy had arrived. The only person allowed to drink during registration, because co ee, as we all know, does not count as a drink. Meanwhile Sebastian chatted enough for twelve people, always cheerful, always checking in, destined one day to be incredibly popular… or imprisoned in a friendly foreign jail.
On the subject of future detentions of a legal nature, we of course have Yoan, whom I expect to see either in Forbes or in very polite handcu s. Time will tell.
My form was also full of future doctors — Fahim, Armaan, Bella, half the Andrews — and I have every intention of demanding a teacher discount from all of them. Adam, meanwhile, will be successful wherever he lands as long as he keeps the girlfriend the universe kindly assigned him.
Our tech-minded stars kept life interesting: Vibhu, the embodiment of enthusiasm, coded his way through sixth form and will one day have us all paying £4.99 for his apps. Augustin, the bilingual coder, will probably invite us to his chateau in France where he’ll claim he always knew he was destined for better weather.
Some students communicated quietly but powerfully: Daniel, calm and cool; Andrew, quietly scoring 100% on the weekly quizzes no one else studied for; Luke, adding presence without volume; Ra erty, stoic to the point I occasionally wondered if he simply didn’t want to talk to me. And honestly? Fair.
We also had our future leaders: Samit with his calm, reasoned poise; Timmy, already preparing for Prime Minister (or at least a cabinet position); Sariah, whose intelligence and kindness could change the world — or at least her preferred corner of it; and Leila, elegant enough to redesign all British transport the moment she feels like it.
Then there were the wildcards: Libby, cheerleader energy trapped in a British secondary school, participating in everything except, unfortunately, wearing her lanyard. Darshan, whose kind smile suggested he could make any career work — as long as he could wear trainers. Sophie, the coolest of the cool, destined for the orchestra pit of every West End show I’ll ever attend. Alicia, future founder of her own school, where blazers will be outlawed and mornings are abolished. Rory, permanently toeing the line of acceptable behaviour, whom I encourage, sincerely, to “walk toward the light.” And Mowahid, future doctor in white coat and, of course, white socks, whose aesthetic commitment has already peaked.
And finally, Luca’s shirts, my ca eine dependency, and your collective refusal to wear a blazer bonded us all in a way I didn’t expect.
I am so very proud of each member of 13 Zeta and will miss you all. Ms Corkery

It has been an honour and a privilege to have you as my sixth form Tutor group 2024 - 2026 at Sutton Grammar School. What a brilliant bunch of young people you are, and so very impressive! From Ollie and Oliver’s sporting accomplishments, Magnus and Laila’s commitment to the school, Luca’s musical accomplishments, Faris and Alex getting Oxbridge o ers; and there are so many more accolades like -- published articles, essay competitions, involvement in CCF -- that you have achieved that deserves a huge... Congratulations, pat on the back and very well done. You have all been amazing.
I will miss Harry’s triumphant quiz master and stand-up comic moments. Chatting to Warda and Sabrina. Parth explaining maths. Harris getting excited about something that may or may not happen. Min Jae and Milli talking intensely. What a lovely time we have all had, and we got through it all — the slide presentations, booklets, announcements, assemblies, fire lines ups and uniform checks! I must say, I will never forget — that one time, I told Rowan to ‘stop eating in my classroom’ (he was eating a Gregs) and he replied ‘I’m not eating, I’m bulking Miss’ :) Hilarious.
But seriously, I could not be prouder of each and every one of you and I wish you every success and happiness. The journey ahead will be new, it will we exciting, it will be well earnt. At times it may be long and it may be challenging... so keep trying your best. Stay ahead, stay on top, keep being kind, remain humble (Ethan, you can do it) , be honest. Be happy, enjoy the simple things.
Appreciate what you can. Learn how to cook. And please, look after yourself and each other.
