T LEVELS T LEVEL HEALTH

In September 2022 we will be offering a brand new qualification, T Levels. T Levels are high-quality technical courses, designed with employers, to give young people the skills that industries need, and for them to thrive in the workplace. They are two-year courses, equivalent to 3 A Levels, that can be studied following GCSEs. T Levels focus on vocational skills providing technical knowledge and practical skills specific to a learner’s chosen industry or occupation. 80% of the course is study time in college, gaining industry specific skills and knowledge. 20% is on industrial placement, putting into practice the knowledge and technical skills learnt in the classroom. On completion, students receive a nationally recognised qualification and will be prepared for their future progression routes, that include skilled employment, higher level apprenticeships or higher education. T Level Health is a technical qualification, equivalent to three A Levels. It is a two-year course, designed to give you a knowledge and understanding of concepts, theories and principles relevant to the Health sector. Through the qualification, you will develop professional competencies, and gain core knowledge and skills that are required for entry into a range of healthcare occupations.

WHAT WILL YOU STUDY?

In your classroom-based learning, you will study the theory of: ● Working within the health and science sector ● Health ● Safety and environmental regulations ● Managing information and data ● Good scientific and clinical practice ● Core science concepts ● You will also learn about topics specific to health, including: ● Understanding the healthcare sector ● Providing person-centred care ● Supporting health and wellbeing ● Human anatomy and physiology and of diseases and disorders ● Infection prevention and control. In addition to the core content, each student must choose one of the following specialisms: ● Supporting the adult nursing team ● Supporting the midwifery team ● Supporting the mental health team ● Supporting the care of children and young people ● Supporting the therapy teams.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Five Grade 5s at GCSE, including a minimum of Grade 5 in GCSE English Language, GCSE Maths and GCSE Science.

ASSESSMENT

Two written examinations that assess your knowledge and understanding of Health theory. Five core skills are externally assessed via the Employer-Set Project, accounting for 30% of the qualification.

NEXT STEPS

After successful completion of T Level Health, you may progress to Higher Education, a Higher Level Apprenticeship, or gain direct entry to the Health Sector as Ambulance Support Worker, Healthcare Support Worker or Senior Healthcare Support in a Health setting.
