We want health and care professionals to feel good at work. This applies whether you work in health care, social care, dentistry or veterinary medicine.
By studying the most requested functions and working with some of Sweden’s leading designers to create a fashionable look, we have developed a collection of well-designed, functional work wear for health and care professionals. Work clothes that all health and care professionals will feel comfortable and stylish wearing. Whether you’re a woman or a man, tall or short, thin or curvy, you deserve clothing you enjoy wearing. Because we believe that when people feel good, they do a better job.
WAW clothing meets all professional quality requirements and is really well-fitting. With many sizes and on-trend cuts and styles, there’s something for everyone to love.
You’re worth it.
Good design is the kind of design you don’t notice. Everything seems natural and the details just fit into place. This is one of the cornerstones of our design work.
But for people who wear work clothing there’s also the aesthetic aspect – they want clothes that they look good in.
The art is to combine these two aspects. We don’t see them as opposites, but as mutually complementary. We need clothing for health and care staff that is more stylish without compromising on the details. Through ongoing product development in dialogue with our users, we aim to continuously raise the bar and create clothes you enjoy wearing, with smart details that make your daily life easier.
We posed this question to ourselves in 2015. With extensive experience in modern workwear, we realized that there was a lack of modern and stylish clinic fashion with a good fit.
A collection of unique uniforms took shape, and Wear At Work’s first production process began. The result was a
collection of durable, comfortable garments that can easily be mixed and matched, made of breathable materials with stylish cuts and well-designed details. Garments that fit different body shapes and can be combined in multiple ways for different needs and situations.
Today we design clothes that not only bring joy to the people who wear them, but also to your customers.
We are constantly thinking about how to make our products even better. But clothing production also comes with a big responsibility. We are responsible for doing what we’re best at: designing and producing lightweight work wear and corporate clothing as sustainably as possible.
Actually, nothing could be more natural. Like most people, we want to be able to tell our children and grandchildren that we did our best to promote a more sustainable world. Hang on – what if we tried that instead?
Today’s circular economy forces us to think carefully. Thinking a little smarter takes you a little further. That’s one of WAW’s mottos. It also includes our philosophy on sustainability. Some call it CSR. We call it caring.
Three perspectives for sustainability
Textile production – an environmental perspective
Many aspects of production have an impact on the environment. These aspects include choice of materials, the amount of waste produced, the chemical additives used and the actual production methods used, which can include dyeing, production technology and energy consumption. The chosen transport methods also affect the environment. Transport can be rationalised by ordering larger batches. This is one of the reasons why WAW has one of the market’s best-stocked warehouses.
Another important factor is product packaging. We use recyclable packaging whenever possible.
As part of our commitment to constantly improve our performance and sustainability, we have gained certification according to ISO 14001:2015. This environmental certification also helps our subcontractors to comply with our environmental goals. Our ISO certification supports us in achieving our continuous environmental improvement goals.
CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility)
Most people will know from watching TV how bad working conditions can be in textile factories around the world. In order to monitor the daily routines in our production facilities, we favour long-standing collaboration with selected factories where we have full control of production. Moreover, we are members of the
BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative), the leading global organisation for open and sustainable trade with members in more than 40 countries. The BSCI’s mission is to help organisations enhance human prosperity, use natural resources responsibly and drive open trade globally. For more information about the BSCI’s work and our common Code of Conduct, visit amfori.org.
Wear At Work actively works to influence local conditions, and by choosing our products you make an important contribution to driving positive development in local communities. Employees in local facilities must have favourable working conditions, both in terms of safety and wages, and must be free to organise trade unions. Needless to say, the same principles apply in Sweden: WAW should be a good company to work for.
We comply with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and expect our subcontractors to do the same. Among other things, this means zero tolerance of child labour and discrimination, an approach which may seem natural to us in Sweden. We encourage diversity and value a workplace where everyone can contribute different perspectives and competences, regardless of gender, culture, sexual orientation or training. We care.
Textile production – a financial perspective
Finance is crucial to a company’s survival. We aim to be part of a financial system that generates profits both for the employees in our organisation and for our customers. When an organisation has healthy finances, its operations generate long-term benefits for all stakeholders without compromising on social and environmental sustainability.
ISO 14001:2015 environmental certification
Texstar is environmentally certified according to ISO ISO14001:2015. This demonstrates our ambition to continuously improve and develop our environmental management so that everyone in the company works in the same direction. Our environmental policy also helps our subcontractors comply with our environmental goals. Our ISO certification supports us in achieving our continuous environmental improvement goals.
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)
GOTS imposes strict requirements throughout the production chain with regard to both environmental impact and working conditions in the textile and clothing industries. GOTS supports organic, sustainable farming without the use of toxic pesticides and fertilisers, with the vision of achieving ecologically sustainable production in terms of materials, packaging and logistics. Read more on global-standard.org.
Amfori – trade with purpose
Amfori BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) brings together over 2,000 retailers, importers, brands and associations from more than 40 countries. Amfori’s mission is to enable each of its members to enhance human prosperity, use natural resources responsibly and drive open trade globally.
These are major challenges that can only be tackled through collaboration. Together we can influence and drive positive change on a large scale. Read more about this work and Amfori BSCI’s 11 Principles on amfori.org.
Amfori BEPI provides control at all stages
The Amfori BEPI platform allows us to monitor the whole production chain from a sustainability perspective, and offers a tool for promoting sustainability right down to factory level. By focusing on the most important areas and locations in our sustainability efforts, we support the global goals of the Paris Agreement and UN Climate Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production. Read more on amfori.org.
REACH limits diffusion of hazardous chemicals
REACH is a European Union regulation aimed at reducing the diffusion of hazardous chemicals. REACH requires all old and new chemicals on the market to be registered, evaluated and authorised. This means that WAW is required to:
• register the chemicals we manufacture or import
• prepare and supply a safety data sheet or equivalent information to the recipients of the chemicals
• ascertain whether a permit is required for the chemical in question
• if we want to continue using or releasing a chemical in a market where a permit is required, we must apply for a permit
• keep abreast with any limitations that apply to the chemical or mixtures containing it.
You can read more about REACH on the website of the Swedish Chemicals Agency (Kemikalieinspektionen), www.kemi.se.
Oeko-Tex Standard 100
Clothing production is a global process in which the various stages of production – from raw materials to finished products
– are often located in different parts of the world. Oeko-Tex is an international organisation where textile products are tested and certified through all stages of production by independent international institutes. The Oeko-Tex criteria catalogue is aimed at creating a collective vision regarding potentially harmful substances.
Oeko-Tex provides companies in the textile and clothing industry with a set of common assessment standards, while giving end consumers the benefit of tested safety, for instance in the form of skin-friendly clothing.
The requirements of the standard vary according to the intended use of the end product, and are divided into four product classes. Texstar products meet all the requirements in Product Class II regarding the materials and components used. This gives you assurance that Texstar clothing is safe to wear against your skin. Read more about Oeko-Tex on www.oeko-tex.com.
STICA (The Swedish Textile Initiative for Climate Action) works to support companies in the textiles industry to pursue the goal of the Paris Agreement to limit the increase in global temperature by reducing greenhouse gas emissions (GHG).
Being able to wear comfortable, quality clothing is just one of the benefits of choosing WAW. Just as important, perhaps even more so, is the wide selection of sizes, our large inventory and our short delivery times. These things are not very common at a time when many businesses are opting to minimise their inventory to cut costs.
We have in-house production, with factories in China and an office in Shanghai. This gives us control of all stages, from product to delivery.
We also have long, well-established contacts with subcontractors. All these things together mean we
can help our customers cut their costs. There are no intermediaries, only us.
We deliver to the entire Nordic region from our large warehouse in Norrtälje. We stock all the items in this catalogue. Our aim is for the items you order today to be delivered tomorrow. That’s why we keep a large inventory of our standard articles in our warehouse.
We see it as part of the service. It means that as partner, WAW gives you high delivery reliability.
We know there are high requirements. We’re working for you.
Work wear for health care professionals must meet high requirements. They are worn week in and week out, around the clock. They need to be of high quality and last a long time.
We develop products to meet your high requirements. In terms of sustainability, we comply at minimum with a number of certifications, e.g. Oeko-Tex 100 (Class 2) environmental certification. But it’s also important to understand how the garments are used and which parts are subjected to heavy wear, and then cut them in a way that makes them flexible and durable without compromising on fit and design.
Industrial laundering is a necessity
It is also essential to design the garments to suit their intended purpose, for example by ensuring that they can be washed at the temperatures necessary to get them clean, without losing their shape. You can see in our washing instructions what temperatures they are designed for. Our aim is for you to be satisfied with the product’s quality throughout its lifespan.
Needless to say, the garments with the highest requirements are certified for industrial laundering according to ISO 15797:2018. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about our quality procedures.
Our latest collection is specially designed to meet requirements in the health care sector. The clothes must withstand regular daily wear, so it is essential that they are of high quality and can be washed at 85°C.
While this is important, a hallmark of WAW clothing is that the garments are also comfortable to wear. Everyone should be able to find garments that they enjoy wearing, and that offer that little extra. After all, why shouldn’t work wear for health care professionals be stylish?
We’ve listened to people’s needs, we’ve partnered with leading designers and we’ve made sure the collection is available in many sizes. Everyone should be able to find garments they enjoy wearing.
