Crafstman is Sire of the Year

It won’t come as a surprise to anyone who has paid attention to the results from the Society’s National Sales to learn that the 2020 First Season Sire of the Year is Garngour Craftsman.

With sons selling at five figure prices at both Lanark and Worcester and the now world famous Sportsmans Double Diamond selling for 350,000gns at Lanark, he was without doubt the in-form sire of the season.

Aside from Double Diamond, his other top selling sons from different dams which saw him clinch the title with an average price of 146,666gns were, Sportsmans Dirty Harry at 50,000gns and Mellor Vale Déjà Vu at 40,000gns, both of which were also sold at Lanark.

Taking second spot was Procters Chumba Wumba, himself a son of the 100,000gns Sportsmans Batman. His top three selling sons, again all sold at Lanark, were the 65,000gns Hexel Django, Teiglum Dancing Brave at 30,000gns and Hexel Dallas at 7500gns.

In third place was Usk Vale Crackerjack with an average of 14,500gns. His top three

sons all came from the same flock and again all sold at Lanark. Leading the way was Haymount Divine King at 32,000gns, Haymount Dallas Cowboy at 7000gns and the 4500gns Haymount Dynamite Dollars.

It was a close-run thing between Crackerjack and the fourth placed Sportsmans Cannonball, with the latter recording an average price of 14,333gns. His top selling sons were Midlock De Niro at 26,000gns, with Midlock Dizzee Rascal and Craig Douglas Dancer both making 10,000gns.

Another by Batman followed along in fifth spot, in the form of Procters Cocktail. Helping him into the final spot were two sons at 8000gns, with these being Tamnamoney Dodger and Tamnamoney Decimus. His third qualifying son was Forkins Drambuie at 3600gns.
