His name was Bubba, and he was from Texas. He needed a Loan, so he walked into a bank in New York City and asked for the loan Officer. He told the loan officer that he was going to Paris for an International redneck festival for two weeks and needed to borrow $5,000, and that he was not a depositor of the bank. The bank officer told him that the bank would need some form of security for the loan, so the Redneck handed over the keys to a new Ferrari. The car was parked on the street in front of the bank. The Redneck produced the title and everything checked out. The loan officer agreed to hold the car as collateral for the loan and apologized for having to charge 12% interest. Later, the bank’s president and its officers all enjoyed a good laugh at the Redneck from the Texas for using a $250,000 Ferrari as collateral for a $5,000 loan. An employee of the bank then drove the Ferrari into the bank’s private underground garage and parked it. Two weeks later, the Redneck returned, repaid the $5,000 and the interest of 23.07. The loan officer said, “Sir, we are very happy to have had your business, and this transaction has worked out very nicely, but we are a little puzzled. While you were away, we checked you out on Dunn & Bradstreet and found that you are a distinguished alumni from Texas A & M, a highly sophisticated investor and multimillionaire with real estate and financial interests all over the world. Your investments include a large number of wind turbines around Sweetwater, Texas. What puzzles us is, why would you bother to borrow $5,000?” The good ‘ole boy replied, “Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for only $23.07 and expect it to be there when I return?” His name was ‘BUBBA’ ... Keep an eye on Texas boys! Just because we talk funny does not mean we are stupid !!!

SMOKE SIGNAL

There was only one person alive on a small island. He prayed everyday asking God to send someone to rescue him. Everyday he looked around for God’s help but he couldn’t find it. Tired of waiting, he made a shelter to protect himself and protect his few possessions. But then one day, after looking for food,, he came back to find his little shelter on fire. The worse thing was that everything he owned was burned. He was confused and mad at God. He asked God, “why did you do this to me?” and he fell asleep over the sand. Early the next morning, he heard the sound of a boat that came close to the island. They were rescuers. He asked them how they knew he was there. The rescuers said to him that they saw the smoke signals he made. It’s easy to get mad at things when they go wrong, but we shouldn’t lose our heart, because God is working in our lives. Remember, the next time your small house is on fire, it might simply be a smoke signal. that comes from above. For every negative thing that happens to us, we should tell ourselves, “He has a positive answer to this”.

Why do we think that being mad at someone is a

punishment for them? Forgiveness is more important for you than for the person you need to forgive. What would be important to them would be apologizing; however, we can’t count on folks to do the right thing.

Have you ever been in an argument and before

you know it, both of you are saying things like, “Well! I wouldn’t have done what I did if you hadn’t done what you did 10 years ago at that Christmas party?” The reply, “Oh! I only did that thing at the Christmas party because of that thing you did right after we met in 1973!” It’s all about who can beat up the other the hardest and fastest about past problems.

The sad thing here is that this is not the first time

this has happened and both parties have sworn forgiveness, but it just didn’t stick.

I had some people that lived in a rent house of

mine and when they left it, they destroyed it. I actually have no idea why they left it in such a horrible condition, but they did. My family and I spent quite a bit of time plotting in our minds about gathering all the trash and dumping in their new yard, filing any kind of charges we could think of with the authorities or even suing them. I was furious with them as the repairs were extremely time consuming and expensive. I let this offense be a huge part of my conversation with myself and others for a long time. I kept the fire of anger burning me and anyone who would listen.

That was before I had an epiphany about the

whole forgiveness thing. I’m almost 60 years old, and it was only about 10 years ago that I realized what it was all about. Sitting alone, thinking, praying and asking God to forgive me for every sin I could manage to remember… again, it finally sunk in that He was thinking, “Ginger, do we have to do this…again? How many times do you have to ask for my forgiveness when I forgave you the first time you meant it?”

God had forgiven me. Then, I forgave myself.

February, 2015 At that very moment, I felt a wave of relief come over me that I had never felt before. And, I didn’t stop there. I started thinking about the people in my life that had wronged me. One by one, whether they had asked for forgiveness from me or not, I forgave. Until you honestly do this for yourself, you can never imagine how good it feels.

One day about 5 years after the renters had

trashed my house, the woman who had lived there showed up at my door. I have to tell you I was pretty surprised! She began talking about where they were living, phone service, and pets. She was chattering so fast about nothing that I really didn’t have a chance to get a word in. I had no anger in me; however, I was trying to figure out why she was there.

When she took a breath, I asked her if she re-

membered our last conversation. She froze for a second, and then tears came to her eyes and she said, “Ginger, I am so sorry that we did that to the house. I’m so sorry for the way we treated you.” Wow! And, I looked at her and in all honesty, I accepted her apology, forgave her and told her to never think of it again. That is a moment that I will never forget. I could almost see the relief that she was experiencing. She had obviously been feeling a lot of guilt and even though she seemed surprised at my response, she was so happy. And, I felt better than she did!

Now, we probably won’t be best friends, but I

have no animosity towards her at all. If I see her on the street, I can honestly give her a happy to see you smile. Carrying a grudge is too much weight for you to carry. It is a burden. When someone sincerely apologizes, then honestly forgive. That is not to say that it won’t be etched in your memory since we are all human. We have all made mistakes and at times just acted plain ugly. It’s okay to just let it go.

To husbands and wives, parents and children

and friends and family; train yourself to forgive and stop using the past as a weapon of punishment. Isaiah 44:22 I will blot out your transgressions as with a cloud and your sins as with a thick cloud. Return to me, for I will repurchase you. God

February, 2015 Angels..as explained by Children I only know the names of two angels, Hark and Harold. Gregory, age 5 Everybody’s got it all wrong. Angels don’t wear halos anymore. I forget why, but scientists are working on it Olive, age 9 It’s not easy to become an angel! First, you die. Then you go to Heaven, and then there’s still the flight training to go through. And then you got to agree to wear those angel clothes. Matthew, age 9 Angels work for God and watch over kids when God has to go do something else. Mitchell, age 7 My guardian angel helps me with math, but he’s not much good for science. Henry, age 8 Angels don’t eat, but they drink milk from Holy Cows!!! Jack, age 6 Angels talk all the way while they’re flying you up to heaven. The main subject is where you went wrong before you got dead. Daniel, age 9 When an angel gets mad, he takes a deep breath and counts to ten. And when he lets out his breath again, somewhere there’s a tornado. Reagan, age 10 Angels have a lot to do and they keep very busy. If you lose a tooth, an angel comes in through your window and leaves money under your pillow. Then when it gets cold, angels go south for the winter. Sara, age 6 Angels live in cloud houses made by God and his Son, who’s a very good carpenter. Jared, age 8 All angels are girls because they gotta wear dresses and boys didn’t go for it. Antonio, age 9 My angel is my grandma who died last year. She got a big head start on helping me while she was still down here on earth. Ashley, age 9 Some of the angels are in charge of helping heal sick animals and pets. And if they don’t make the animals get better, they help the child get over it. Vicki , age 8 What I don’t get about angels is why, when someone is in love, they shoot arrows at them. Sarah , age 7

February, 2015 Greeting Cards

ESKIMO KISS

In modern Western culture, an Eskimo kiss is the act of pressing the tip of one’s nose against another’s. It is loosely based on a traditional Inuit greeting called a kunik. A kunik is a form of expressing affection, usually between family members and loved ones, that involves pressing the nose and upper lip against the skin (commonly the cheeks or forehead) and breathing in, causing the loved one’s skin or hair to be suctioned against the nose and upper lip. A common misconception is that the practice arose so that Inuit could kiss without their mouths freezing together. In fact, it is a non-erotic form of greeting that serves as an intimate way of greeting one another for people who, when they meet, often have little except their nose and eyes exposed. When early explorers of the Arctic first witnessed this behavior they dubbed it Eskimo kissing. In its western form it consists of two people rubbing noses together. One of the earliest representations of the Eskimo kiss comes from Robert Flaherty’s 1922 film Nanook of the North, considered by many to be the first real documentary or ethnographic film. It is possibly from this source that the non-Inuit/Eskimo public became aware of this convention. Wikipeida.org

CONVERSATION IN HEAVEN SYLVIA: Hi! Wanda. WANDA: Hi! Sylvia. How’d you die? SYLVIA: I froze to death. WANDA: How horrible! SYLVIA: It wasn’t so bad. After I quit shaking from the cold, I began to get warm & sleepy, and finally died a peaceful death. What about you? WANDA: I died of a massive heart attack. I suspected that my husband was cheating, so I came home early to catch him in the act. But instead, I found him all by himself in the den watching TV. SYLVIA: So, what happened? WANDA: I was so sure there was another woman there somewhere that I started running all over the house looking. I ran up into the attic and searched, and down into the basement. Then I went through every closet and checked under all the beds. I kept this up until I had looked everywhere, and finally I became so exhausted that I just keeled over with a heart attack and died. SYLVIA: Too bad you didn’t look in the freezer ---we’d both still be alive.

A sixteen year-old boy came home with a new Chevrolet Avalanche and his Parents began to yell and scream, ‘Where did you get that truck ? He calmly told them, ‘I bought it today.’ ‘With what money?’ demanded his parents. They knew what a Chevrolet Avalanche cost. ‘Well,’ said the boy, ‘this one cost me just fifteen dollars.’ So the parents began to yell even louder. ‘Who would sell a truck like that for fifteen dollars?’ they said. ‘It was the lady up the street,’ said the boy. I don’t know her name-they just moved in. She saw me ride past on my bike and asked me if I wanted to buy a Chevrolet Avalanche for fifteen dollars.’’ Oh my Goodness!,’ moaned the mother, ‘she must be a child abuser. Who knows what she will do next? John, you go right up there and see what’s going on.’ So the boy’s father walked up the street to the house where The lady lived and found her out in the yard calmly planting petunias! He introduced himself as the father of the boy to whom she had sold a new Chevrolet Avalanche for fifteen dollars and demanded to know why she did it. ‘Well,’ she said, ‘this morning I got a phone call from my husband. (I thought he was on a business trip, but learned from a friend he had run off to Hawaii with his mistress and really doesn’t intend to come back). He claimed he was stranded and needed cash, and asked me to sell his new Chevrolet Avalanche and send him the money. So I did.’

A husband, proving to his wife that women talk more than men, showed her a study which indicated that men use, on the average, only 15,000 words a day, whereas women use 30,000 words a day. She thought about this for a while and then told her husband that women use twice as many words as men because they have to repeat everything they say. Looking stunned, he said, “What?

Can you believe it’s February already? I am so ready for spring, but first we must get through February! I have tried to think romantic thoughts to get creative for Valentine’s Day but, oh my, cozy was all I could come up with. With adding some fresh roses, a few candles, with lowered room lights, and some soft music in the background you might be able to achieve the right effect. I have to thank Paula Dean for the two Valentine’s recipes. I mean who else besides Ms Paula would a good country girl check with if not her me-maw? Oh yes! Betty Crocker didn’t let me down either this month. A nice slow cooker recipe that served with a favorite salad and fresh bread hot out of the oven will make a great cold winter day meal. And my last one is from Sharon Law from Pittsburg, by way of her daughter and Bisquick. FINALLY, biscuits I would serve my me-maw with some hot melted butter and homemade jelly! You would think that a married man would know when to compliment his wife - and more importantly, know when to stop!A man turned to his wife of many years, and told her, “Honey, I have to tell you that you look more lovely every day.” Before she could return the compliment, he continued: “But don’t worry—I refuse to buy glasses!” ***** A henpecked husband was advised by his psychiatrist to assert himself. “You don’t have to let your wife bully you,” the doctor said. “Go home and show her you’re the boss.” The man decided to take the shrink’s advice, so he went home, slammed the door, shook his fist in his wife’s face, and growled, “From now on, you’re taking orders from me. I want my supper immediately, and when you get it on the table, run upstairs and lay out my clothes. Tonight I’m going out with the boys, but you’re going to stay at home where you belong. Another thing - do you know who’s gonna tie my bow tie?” “I certainly do,” his wife said calmly. “The undertaker.” ***** A young man wanted to get his beautiful blonde wife something nice for their first wedding anniversary. So he decided to buy her a cell phone. He showed her the phone and explained to her all of its features. Meg was excited to receive the gift and simply adored her new phone. The next day Meg went shopping. Her phone rang and, to her astonishment, it was her husband on the other end. “Hi Meg,” he said, “how do you like your new phone?” Meg replied, “I just love it! It’s so small and your voice is clear as a bell, but there’s one thing I don’t understand though...” “What’s that, sweetie?” asked her husband. “How did you know I was at Wal-Mart?”
