A Letter from the President Dear Red Raiders, Welcome to Texas Tech University and congratulations on taking the first steps toward an unforgettable college experience. On behalf of the Interfraternity Council (IFC), I’m excited to introduce you to a world of connecting with incredible people, building yourself up to the fraternity man standard, and opening new doors for yourself in the real world.

The Interfraternity Council represents 25 outstanding men’s organizations committed to brotherhood, scholarship, leadership, and service. As a council, we provide an informal recruitment experience throughout the summer and a formalized process that you're currently involved in Lubbock.

Joining a fraternity means more than just finding your friend group; it’s about building character, making an impact, and becoming the best version of yourself. Whether you're looking for service opportunities, academic support, or lifelong friendships, there’s a place for you here.

This community and my chapter have not only provided me with the opportunity to grow as a fraternity man. But have given me the privilege of making a strong impact. Serving as the IFC President has given me the ability to watch IFC grow as a community and has made me realize that there is no ceiling too high for each fraternity at Texas Tech.

I encourage you to keep an open mind, ask questions, and be authentic throughout the recruitment process. Your future starts now, and we’re here to help every step of the way.

FSL OVERVIEW What is Fraternity & Sorority Life?

Fraternity & Sorority Life empowers members to represent the values of their respective organizations, and Texas Tech University. We promote a safe, and responsible fraternal experience that fosters a sense of connection through growth, engagement, and community.

Why We Exist?

To provide guidance, resources, and advocacy for all Fraternity & Sorority Life members.

To serve as a liaison amongst collegiate chapters, parents, alumni, organizations, and Texas Tech University.

To support Texas Tech University’s mission, purpose, and strategic plan.

WHAT IS IFC? INTERFRATERNITY COUNCIL AT TTU Currently, at Texas Tech, we host 25 Fraternity Chapters. Each of our chapter’s have something different to offer within the individual fraternity’s core values.

THE GOVERNING BODY The Interfraternity Council coordinates Recruitment, provides programming and activities for Fraternity men, and works as a self-governing support system to the Fraternity community at Texas Tech University. The council strives to uphold success and excellence in its members. Texas Tech's Interfraternity Community is made up of over 2,500 undergraduate members.

EXECUTIVE BOARD The IFC Executive Board is made up of 11 members, and helps guide and facilitate conversations about the community as a whole. They serve in independent positions to explore new ideas and bring stability and order to the Fraternity Community.

PARKING INFORMATION EDUCATION DAY & BID DAY RESIDENTS (RESIDENCE HALLS) Walk to the Student Union Building OFF-CAMPUS PARTICIPANTS Park in the lot associated with your parking permit (Commuter or Satellite).

SELECTIONS PROCESS Throughout the week, you will visit each IFC chapter to learn more about the organization, meet its members, and determine where you feel the best fit. After each invitational round of recruitment, chapters will decide which Potential New Members they would like to invite back for the next round.

Beginning on August 19 at 9:00 p.m., you will meet with your Recruitment Group and Recruitment Captains at the Library Fountains to complete your selections. During selections, you will rank only the chapters that have invited you to return for the next round, in order of your personal preference.

If a Potential New Member is unable to attend selections, they will be released from the recruitment process and, per IFC Bylaws, will be ineligible to join an IFC fraternity for a period of 90 days.

IMPORTANT: Although you do not make selections on the 18th, you will still be required to show up to the library fountains at 9pm that night.

RULES Potential New Members may receive up to two ( recruitment violations during the recruitment process.

The first recruitment violation will consist of a warning from the Vice President of Recruitment and the Vice President of Judicial Affairs.

The second recruitment violation will consist of a warning from the Vice President of Recruitment, the Vice President of Judicial Affairs, the IFC President, and the IFC Advisor. All chapters will be notified if a PNM receives a second strike.

A third recruitment violation will consist of removal from the Formal Recruitment process and the PNM will be ineligible to accept a bid from any IFC fraternity for 90 days.

The Recruitment Team may immediately remove a Potential New Member from recruitment for conduct that poses a safety risk, violates university policy, disrupts recruitment operations, or substantially undermines the integrity of the recruitment process.

Participating chapters shall be notified of any Potential New Member removed from recruitment. Any Potential New Member removed from recruitment shall be ineligible to accept a bid to any IFC fraternity for a period of ninety ( 90) calendar days.

RULES All Texas Tech University regulations shall apply during Formal Recruitment.

This includes, but is not limited to, all applicable FSL policies and the Student Code of Conduct.

All recruitment activities shall be alcohol-free and drugfree.

Chapters and their members shall refrain from making disparaging, defamatory, or negative remarks regarding other fraternities, sororities, student organizations, or members thereof.

Illegal activity is prohibited.

Potential New Members found responsible for violations of recruitment regulations shall be subject to the procedures and sanctions outlined in Section III of these regulations.

Violations include, but are not limited to: Alcohol use; Drug use; Criminal conduct; Violations of IFC policy; Violations of FSL policy; and Violations of the Student Code of Conduct
